Quote from: "jsygirlheartsdisney"I agree - this is a really good podcast and they really need more imagineers like Tim Delaney!!

Did anyone manage to find the picture of the painting of the discoveryland castle they were talking about?
Here it is...

This building looks really cool, but I'm glad that we got the traditional castle. By the way the most beautiful Disney building ever built!!

I've just listened this great podcast to the end. So it looks that TWDC financed SM completly on its own. There is no word that the money came from Euro Disney SCA. Did TWDC have more influence on the whole park in the early days. Why doesn't TWDC finance any attractions anymore?

When you listen to this podcast it makes you really angry about TSPL. As Delaney said, SM was a restart for the whole resort and attendance went up. So SM is the perfect example that only well done attractions really help to improve the resort.

as far as i remember TWDC loaned the money to build all the attractions for the 15th anniversary - TOT, Crush, Cars, BLYLB

Thanks for informing us Willow.

Wow, what a great interview. I can't wait to hear part 3. Fascinating stuff.

Hey, one thing I just noticed. Tim worked on Radiator Springs Racers, the massive e-ticket they're currently building over at Disney's California Adventure! Here's a photo of him working on the model. What a great last project to put your name on, before leaving Imagineering:

Will Tim Delaney retire after the DCA makeover is finished. Did he mention this in the podcast? I must have missed this.

I don't want to imagine what will happen to WDI after Tim and Tony Baxter retired.

Apparently Tim left Imagineering in late 2009. It's unclear whether he was fired, or just decided to retire.

Anyone know how old he is? I can imagine him being somewhere between 55 and 60.

I can't imagine that he was fired, he was one of the best imagineers, but who knows. Dick Cook was also fired in replaced by this stupid grinning guy.

Regarding the "looks and feels" of Space Mountain. I was rather positively impressed about the state of Space Mountain last time I was there (a few weeks ago), compared with about a year before.

OK; it was down (together with the rest of Discoveryland) the first time I tried to visit it. :).

But I actually really enjoyed riding it this visit:
- I didn't bang my head that much.
- The sound was working decently every time I rode it.
- To me it looked like it was a lot darker inside than on my last visit, which improves many of the effects. (Or maybe my eyes were just less sensitive, but I wasn't the only one who noticed this.).
- The recoil and smoke effects of the cannon were working most of the time. One time I saw a lot of oil oozing out of it alongside the sides, it didn't really look like it was supposed to do. Afterward the effect was down for the rest of the day, so that might have explained it.
- The supernova projection was actually working and looking OK.
- All other effects I know of seemed to be operational too.

Something which is a bit difficult to judge, but in my opinion, a ride in the morning feels a lot rougher than one in the afternoon. Maybe this has something to do with the warming up of the track and trains, but it might also be just in my head :).

PS: What did they do with that BIG boom they used to have way back in 1995 and a few years on?

The third part of the conversation with Tim Delaney is available on itunes. It is also very interesting to listen.

Does someone know what Tim is doing at the moment, since he left  or had to leave WDI last year? He didn't mention anything in the conversation.

The official Disneyland Paris YouTube channel has posted this little featurette about the Mission 2 music.  I don't think I've seen it before:
