QuotePossibly a little too harsh, but it's your opinion.

I personally thought that they did loose a lot of the atmosphere when they changed the ride. You're right in saying it was a 'downgrade' rather than an upgrade. I think the new music's fantastic thought. It may not be the old track, which was still very good, but I think it's a really decent score. Did you know, it's written by the same guy who wrote the score the The Incredibles?? :D

The new music is fine... For a Space Ghost cartoon. It's not Victorian (like the building that houses the ride still is) and it's hardly "sweeping". So in the context of it all, knowing they threw away one of the best soundtracks ever for this doozie... The word "crap" comes to mind.

i mean, mission 1 was great but missions 2 is hardly rubbish not as good as 1 but still fun!

Like you say, it isn't as good as the old Space Mountain. Why should we settle with a downgrade, while this change from "De la Terre a la Lune" to Mission 2 wasn't even necessary? If you change a ride, it better be a true upgrade or at least on par with the original.

Thats true, they could of just closed it for a couple of weeks and re-painted replaced some parts etc but its free advertising isn't it ?

Yes, I know. And I must say I really like the The Incredibles music. But now imagine they took the score from The Incredibles and put it under Snow White... ;)

You're right. From a financial perspective its a very smart move to present your most well known attraction as a revamped experience. But the problem is that Space Mountain: Mission 2 failed to bring its true mission to a good end (= attracting more vistors). Its just a pity that EuroDisney is in such a weak financial position, otherwise we probably still would be able to ride Space Mountain- de la Terre a la Lune.

Vids a little dark for me to answer my question but does the revamp of this ride still have a loop and a corkscrew in it?

We did the ride the year it first opened but not been back since and my bro won't do loops on coasters , wondered if they tamed it down any?

The ride system ie track layout and trains were not changed and are the same for M2.

The main changes for M2 were new soundtrack, new "effects/scenery" inside, repainted trains with I think a new sound system put in all to reflect the new story of the ride.  Finally not forgetting you are now launched from a lower position in the cannon at the start of the ride.

Is it tamed down, no it should be just the same however because of the deterioration of the track the ride is much rougher and can be quite uncomfortable.

Well i heard there is a speed difference with the new launch position and the old one, but probably only 2 or 3 kilometers per hour faster than Mission 1.

BIG NEWS:

Well if you go on Mission2, the sound system seems to have been fixed on all trains, as this weekend every ride the music worked and loudly, even from the station, which I have not even heard before :D .

That's brilliant! :D I'm glad to see that they actually care about the music - It didn't seem that way for a while. I hope it stays working for November. [-o<

Actually, the sound was fixed every evening, but stopped working almost immediately the next day because the new sound system they installed in 2005 couldn't handle the roughness of the Vekoma coaster.

The case is just that the trains have had it's time. I think Disney should have replaced them with the M2 update, newer trains that are now used are much smoother and more comfortable than the trains that we're used in Mission 1's time.

You're absolutely right.  The make-over was too limited in 2005.  However, they can't keep this trains for a lot more years... Can they?

Well they can for a few years but after that i think even Disney knows it needs new trains, new trains take a long time to create though, and the ride would have at least to be closed some time for testing. If i had been Disney i had given it a bigger update, for instance the queue should have been maybe updated to a similiar space style queue like the DL version and although i think Giachino did a great job on the soundtrack i think it should have been a full ride soundtrack instead of starting after the launch and maybe some computer sounds and stuff inside the cannon. I still have a feeling that Disney rushed the 2.0 update for Space. maybe they should have extended the rehab through the winter of 2004, that would've given them more time to improve the ride.
