Kyoto on Dlrp Magic Interactive forums continues to keep us up-to-date, this time with a bumper selection of excellent Mission 2 preview photos:

Cool new red lighting in the cannon! (probably looks better without the camera flash!)

^^ the red lighting works REALLY well there.  I'm impressed how much this actually improves the effect of it being a real cannon - something which I felt was lacking before now.

The red swirling light effect at the end of the ride.

I'm quite sure these are all definately queue line posters, NOT effects in the ride:

Thanks again to Kyoto, and the Dlrp Magic Interactive Forums he posts on (//http://www.disneymagicwebsites.com/forumdlrpmi/).

I've just watched this: (SMM201042005%20126.mov) video, and although it looks like you can't see everything there is to see when you're on the ride yourself... I'm stunned!  It looks so incredible!  And that lighting effect at the end is simply unbelieveable!

Shame I couldn't spot the Supernova in that vid though... I'll download the others now.

One major thing which I really hated though: they count down to the launch!  This doesn't bother me at all to be honest, but I know it's going to upset a lot of people...    :(

Wow, the vids do look very good! But i couldn't see the Supernova either. That lighting effect does look great indeed!
You can also hear a bit of the music, that's what i was listening to especially. I couldn't hear all of it because of the screaming and noises, but what i heard i didn't like. Or at least i wasn't impressed. But like i said i couldn't hear it that well, so maybe when i hear the soundtrack without all the other sounds, i'll change my mind.

Yeah, I got a bit more of the music from the first on-ride video (where he's sat further back in the train).  it actually sounds quite a bit like the "100 Mile Dash" music from The Incredibles (the bit where Dash is running through the forest and over water).

I also saw the Supernova in that video.  It doesn't look amazing, but it looked OK.  I can remember hearing rumours there'd be heat and wind effects to go with it, but I think that was a really long time ago.  Would have been a cool way to enchance it though... (uh oh.. I'm finding ways they could improve already!  must..  stop..!)

It looks great! Off course this only gives you an impression and riding SMM2 itself will be a completely different experience. Anyway: I can't wait to try it!
BTW talked to a CM and she thinks the music is great

See that's what i mean, you can't say anything about it because of a video! We'll just have to wait and see....or hear!

:D  It's nice to see people who are visiting the park in the near future are waiting until they are actually on the ride to judge it.  People can all too quickly jump to conclusions and base all their opinions on just a few videos.

If anyone has ever seen on-ride videos of RNRC, they'll know that all the video shows is a fast start then simply lots of flashing lights.  To someone who's never been on the ride this means nothing, and it's the same here.  A video camera can simply never give you the same kind of feeling actually being on the ride can, and so I'm very glad at least some people are reserving their final judgement till they've been on it.  Me - I doubt I'll be going to DLRP anytime soon, so I'm watching it all!

Surprisingly, I only watched the on-rides once yesterday, so I'm going to go and watch them again repeatedly and see if I can make out more of the effects in the ride on the video.  You can definately see the supernova in one of the videos, and the animation looks very nice at least.  It's probably a much more exciting thing to watch whilst going up the lift hill than the moon.

That effect at the end with the red lights spinning reminds me of the effect with Buzz's laser gun in Astro Blasters, and looks to be totally disorientating aswell.  I wouldn't be surprised if that one crops up in DL's revamped Space Mountain aswell.  :)

Got a friend riding SMM2 today and he's keeping me posted with texts

Seems like it's very busy over there which I suppose is a good thing! He said he would contact me as soon as he has ridden it, and considering it was open from 15.00, the queue is very very long!

He has my strict orders that if there is any form of music or video on sale that he has to buy it, nomatter what the price is! I have a complete SMM2 shopping list ready  :P
Grab a balloon, come on let\'s go!

OMG! Then it must be really busy there. I know this must sound really strange what i'll be saying now. But then i'm glad i didn't go. I was really tempted to go too, but because i already thought that it would be so crowded i didn't. I have never been on SM, and i really want to now. So i want it to experience when it's a little less crowded.

That would be a great stunt, if there would be a new cd for sale too!!!
