Bring it on, I live where's there's a Starbucks on most corners, seriously there's 4 within a 3 min walk of my office.
For a country like France they are really letting themselves down on the hot beverage front in Disney. Out with the coffee that is so weak it's like drinking hot water and in with the Skinny Mocha with an extra shot to stay in and watch the world go by.
IF there was ever to be a Starbucks though, they would have to sell some classic french pastries to go with it, bring a touch of what you might call 'Commercialised Class' to an otherwised commercialised village.

Quote from: "Baloo"Just to change from whether it is or isn't right to have Starbucks here -- if it is indeed built in that unit, what will it look like? Will it follow a "world showcase" kind of theme like other recent additions?

In fact, will it be themed at all or will it look like any other branch of Starbucks? I was going to suggest they might make it look like the original Starbucks until I googled that and it turned out to be a dump.

It's not a dump, is it? It just looks like... A coffeehouse. What were you expecting?

But I doubt they'd want to theme it. They're not McDonald's.

Oh for crying-- I was merely wondering why you thought it was a dump, because it didn't look all that dump-ish to me. 'Twas not a stab or an attempt at being a wiseguy.

The people on this forum are very easily offended sometimes.

Well, it's not really something they could use for Disney Village, tha'sall...

Unless backstreet Seattle chic is in? A totally generic Starbucks would be a bit of a shame, unless they're so up themselves they think "Starbucks" itself is enough of a theme. Probably.

The best would be a typical Starbucks redbrick facade, which would break up the flat Disney Village buildings a bit. Something a bit more industrial to mix nicely with the Steakhouse next door. They could update the entrance to that at the same time, it doesn't really give the impression of an expensive restaurant worth paying for.

I shall wipe away my offended face.

It is a little on the other side of "slick", that's true. The Christmas lights and that little Charlie Brown tree are priceless, haha. But hey, at least it's not fluorescent orange [cheap stab at current Disney Village esthetic].

Perhaps an intentionally crummy coffeehouse wouldn't even be such a bad idea; everyone likes that Central Perk thing (hundreds of Central Perk-style coffeehouses have opened up after the example of Friends -- although I imagine most of them have been taken over by Starbucks by now). It'd be nice and cozy in the winter months, and God knows Disney Village could use a little coziness.

But back in reality, it will probably be a generic Starbucks, with their glass hanging lamps and their eclectic lounge chairs and their faux blackboard menus. Because besides the original Seattle location, I'm pretty sure they all look exactly the same (right?). It would be exceptionally generous of them to make an exception for DLRP.

There's an awesome Starbucks near L'Opéra in Paris - the front looks like the typical Starbucks, but in the back they included a salon from the Belle Epoque into their coffeehouse... complete with the appropriate furniture and crystal chandeliers. Gorgeous location.

Really, that sounds wonderful. Sort of like a very careful culture clash. So I assume they built it into an existing, historic space and tried to respect the interior? You see, that seems imaginable, but at DLRP, there is little architectural splendor to respect -- they would have to design and build something from scratch. Which seems less likely. Unless there are examples of Starbucks doing just that...

And staying in reality for a moment, Starbucks will close 600 shops in the USA this week.

Personally I don´t like starbucks. I get a gastric disease last time I eat and drink something at the starbucks at Frankfurt Airport. Since then I get always ill, just thinking on that.

And by the way I also prefered before this happening the Segafredo stores. Maybe cause you find segafredo at every corner in my hometown

If they make a starbucks at disney village they should make a good concept. I don´t like to see any more of this boring mc-donalds style buildings!

3 weeks since the last post and here's a little piece of news for you, a friend of mine just came back from DLRP and asked me
"Where's the Starbucks in Disney? I couldn't find it"
"There isn't one" says I
"You sure, I saw 2 blokes with Starbucks visitors passes wandering through the village as we were walking back to the station"
Hmm

I can't believe someone actually drunk all of that filth. I thought people bought Starbucks, so they could hold it to look cool, the way they did with cigarettes in the 1950's (cigarettes are probably better for you :P )

Starbucks must be banned !

You wouldnt have the follow up photo of the person responsible being sick ?
