a) Don't get rid of Buffalo Bill's trading co, it would be an awful shame. As posted earlier, the amount of de-themeing would simply become cataclysmic! :(, very sad to hear that.

I couldn't of phrased it better myself on this one...Right on there dlrp-mad... =D>  =D>

As for Starbucks, they can keep their coffee, I don't drink it.  Even If I did there are better places which have already been mentioned.  I still say Starbucks is all to common now, they are already monopolising the Northeast of England, as I mentioned in a previous post on this thread.  But to replace Buffalo Bill's Trading Co with it is totally unacceptable in my opinion.

What a shame that would be - I really loved the Buffalo Trading Co on our first visit.
Starbucks are evidently having some financial problems in the US - it wa reported today that they are closing 55 of their US stores (600 stores, with a loss of around 12,000 jobs  :( ). However, they are still keen to expand internationally.
I actually really like Starbucks and think it would be a great addition, but it's sad that it may be at the expense of one of the better shops in the village.

To be honest, I would really like to see a Starbucks in Disney Village since we only have one Starbucks here in the Netherlands since last year, at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Personally Starbucks isn't that common to me and it always reminds me of my trips to the States. However I agree with you that Buffalo Bill's Trading Co. should remain. Its one of a few unique shops in Disney Village since Disney Store, Hollywood Pictures, Disney Fashion and World of Toys all sell similar stuff.

By the way, doesn't Buffalo Bill's Trading Co. function as the exit of the Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show? Wouldn't it be stupid to close it down (loss of income) and let it take over by a third party?

I guess it depends if this third party is willing to pay more for the space than they make from what is quite a specialist kind of shop... Probably.

I'm not thrilled about Starbucks taking over that great shop either, but Buffalo Trading Company isn't necessarily essential for DV. There's plenty of that kind of merchandise at Hotel Cheyenne or Frontierland.

The real pain is that it's the only DV store with themeing that hasn't been ripped out. The Disney Gallery feels like a dodgy pound shop held together by plywood, Disney Store feels a bit old and dusty, World of Toys is just dull and Hollywood Pictures is outdated and outdone by Legends of Hollywood in WDS. Surprisingly the only shop I've been impressed by recently was Disney Fashion, which aside from the hideous exterior has a good (if quite bland) look inside.

Losing Buffalo Trading Co. doesn't exactly give them a great benchmark to beat when/if they ever build another store.

Disney Fashion does look alright, with its white decor illuminated by colored flood lights, but you wonder what the deal is with all the sports equipment?

The Disney Store is really dated, almost like the WDW Contemporary Resort rooms before the makeover. Perhaps once they open up the World of Disney store, they can finally afford to close it for a while and give it a little TLC.

But I still don't get that Starbucks could want to have its name associated with that area. Something nearer HNY would be a million times better.

Or maybe just close it down permanently? With the superior World of Disney, the Disney Store seems like a waste of space really. Especially since already 80% of the shops in Disney Village are Disney related. The perfect solution would be for Starbucks to take over the right side of the current Disney Store so they can use the covered terrace for seating.

I suppose they will recieve more costumers in Disney Village compared to the area near Hotel New York?

Is it even a real Disney Store? It seems to have very little to do with the others in Europe (the ones in the US are a different story altogether). But yes, a World of Disney store would probably make it obsolete.

And well, that's one way to look at it -- they'll get a lot more customers in the middle of the Disney Village street. Another is that putting a Starbucks near Lake Disney would extend Disney Village and draw customers away from the already overcrowded main thoroughfare. I honestly think DV is popular enough to warrant a little expansion, and bringing more life to the lake couldn't hurt either. It could be the slightly upscale part of DV, culminating in HNY, which is of course a four star hotel. But oh well, they've made up their minds.

I haven't looked at it that way before. I think you're quite right really.

I reckon it would be better suited at the end of Disney Village closest to the hotels. Do they really want people buying coffee and then wondering round the shops. Best put it at the end where people will think I'll take one back to my room with me. Thats what I'll be doing, cant think of a better way to spend the evening after park closing, Disney chanel and proper coffee

I'd love a Starbucks. As long as it doesn't look as horrible as McDonalds does then I'll be happy

I hope Starbucks doesn't come Not because I'll miss the Buffalo Trading Co. (couldnt really care), or that I don't like coffee ( coffee helps me through the day, praise be to the coffee bean !). The reason is that Starbucks coffee is disgusting. My wife really detests Starbucks coffee, and I would trust her opinion more than mine ( as she came 3rd in the 2008 UK Barista Competition, and won Best Cappacino and Espresso ).

What I do think that the Disney Village needs - or anywhere in the park for that matter - is a Chinese restaurant. Think about it, a pagoda styled building serving great oriental food. There's nothing like it in DLRP, and seeing as how most other types of world food are covered, isn't it about time ?

Well, your wife sounds like she knows her coffee, but most coffee aficionados find Starbucks' regular coffee (which isn't their specialty anyway -- their main thing is espresso) above average. It has a slightly burnt aftertaste, but it definitely isn't bad.

It beats Nescafe in any case.

I'm not really happy about this either. When you visit DLRP, you just want to escape reality, which is what Disney is brilliant at. Stores like Starbucks and McDonald's make Disney Village like an average, everyday, high street. That isn't Disney at all :(

Just to change from whether it is or isn't right to have Starbucks here -- if it is indeed built in that unit, what will it look like? Will it follow a "world showcase" kind of theme like other recent additions?

In fact, will it be themed at all or will it look like any other branch of Starbucks? I was going to suggest they might make it look like the original Starbucks until I googled that and it turned out to be a dump.
