I've been to Disneyland Paris loads of times but always driven & gone on the Dover to Calais ferry. I've never contemplated using Eurotunnel or Eurostar as I have claustrophobia. I can't even go through a tunnel in a car unless I can see the light at the other end  pathetic I know. Oddly I am ok on a train going through a tunnel but they usually only last a couple of minutes...

Amyway as I have separated from my husband another trip to my favourite place looked unlikely but I have the chance to go in August & meet up with family over there who will be part way through a 2 weeks Eurocamping trip.

Realistically I know that the easiest way to get there would be by using Eurostar as I can't drive & would be travelling alone. However I really don't know if I can face going through the tunnel. I believe its about half an hour in the tunnel & I'm worried I'd have some kind of panic attack or get hysterical & as I'll be on my own I'll have nobody to calm me down.

If anything could get me through the tunnel its the thought of 3 days at DLP but I really don't know if I can manage it.

Has anyone with claustrophobia used Eurostar & been ok?

I have claustrophobia and was extremely unhappy about the thought of being in a tunnel under the sea . When we got to St Pancras I was so excited to be going to Disney I tried not to think too much about it. Once we were on the train and it  went into the tunnel I did get that feeling of panic beginning to build but I tried to concentrate on things that were happening on the train, had a trip to the buffet car and the toilet, another check of the Disney confirmation letter and did I still have my passport. When we came out of the tunnel I do remember thinking was that it? This year will be our third year going by Eurostar.

Just think, 3 days in Disney, your favourite rides, soaking up the atmosphere, the magic and seeing your family, not to mention the 25% off offer!

You can do it!!!  =D>

Well done you - for confronting your fear! =D>  =D>

We took a rucksack full of sarnies and lunch items last September - no problem.  We also took a suitcase full of snacks - crisps, biscuits, cereal bars - no problem - and saved us a fortune as food is so expensive at DLP!

Not sure about the alcohol unfortunately as I don't drink but hopefully someone will be along soon that will know the answer.

Quote from: "hollyx"flying's not an option for me, I've never been on a plane & never intend to, just the thought of it brings me out in a cold sweat  :( I guess a tunnel under the sea should be a piece of cake compared to a plane.

I live in Lancashire so am going to have to travel down the night before & stop over in London ready for the train in the morning.

Still haven't decided if I'm brave enough but I want to get the tickets booked soon so will have to make my mind up...

Reading this, sounds like Im reading about myself!

I am exactly like you and was very nervous before getting Eurostar for the first time as I wont even get a train usually and it was fine. I survived there and back no panic attack which is a miracle and am going on it again this month.

You dont even notice your under the water and you can get up and wander around to the snack bar if your feeling claustrophobic.

if I can do it YOU CAN.

As already covered, no problem with food. For alcohol, I am unsure, but if you say it is a drink, which it is, there is no limit. More @ http://eurostar-en.custhelp.com/app/ans ... 14aw%3D%3D

I need to make a massive complaint to Eurostar, if any of you read my topic before about how Eurostar and expedia were messing up the hotels, Eurostar werent helping and Expedia were booking me into the incorrect hotel. Well when we got to our hotel in Paris Expedia wouldnt give the hotel their card details for payment, ( we booked a holiday through Eurostar so had already paid for the hotel) so they took our card as a guarantee! and said we'd have to pay or maybe be checked out, this whole worry ruined our holiday really. They finally gave their card details, for it then to be declined! So we've had to sign to say they have permission to take the money out of my bf's account! I need to complain to someone higher then customer services seen as they have been useless through this whole thing. any ideas?

These topics may have been covered but to be honest there is A LOT to read through so I will just give my little advice incase it hasn't been said.

Firstly if you have a wheelchair user traveling with you on the Eurostar you can get a reduced flat rate fair on the direct service to disney atm it is £50 for children and £69 for adults return. Also because there are only two wheelchair spaces on the train (It sells out fast so book as soon as possible in advance) which are in the business and first class carriages you get a meal for free as well as nicer carriages etc. Also if you are an adult you can have one companion with you for £69 return which is a bargain because they also get nicer seats etc. If you have a child or indeed adult spouse with mental disabilities ie. prone to meltdowns needing restraining etc you can get away with two companions for £69 return they will try and tell you no but just ask them if their staff will be happy to get involved with your screaming child. They soon let you lol. It is well worth doing.

Also it is SO worth complaining to eurostar should they ever upset you don't ever be afraid too I have had lots of bad experiences with them but also lots of nice experiences and they have always rectified the bad experiences generously.

Hope this helps someone!!

hi, we are hoping to travel via eurostar may 2012, with a 6 year old and nearly 4 year old. Would they need a seat each???

I'm affraid you will. It is from the age of 4 that you have to pay for a seat.

As of December Eurostar are changing their direct service to Disneyland from St Pancras.

The direct service will leave London at 10:17am (subject to a minor change but still 10ish) as apposed to 09:44am.

It will leave Disneyland at 18:00pm French time as apposed to 19:17pm this makes me      because I will miss out on nearly an hour and a quarter in the parks as you have to check in half an hour early!!

Anyway I got that from the horses mouth today as I was booking my tickets for November and as I have a europoints account thing they know I travel A LOT     so they thought I would like to know.

Is this permanent or just a temporary thing?

lubynoo

#297
Permanent dependant on customer feedback and how it works out. They have changed it because people were missing the direct service in the morning due to having late connections etc and on the way home people were moaning that getting back at 9pm is too late for children. It is only the direct service though you can still get earlier/later connections going to Lille and then changing to Marne.

If 9pm is too late for children then maybe they should get the earlier train that goes to Lille and change there to get home at a resonable time.

Why ruin it for those who want a bit more time in the parks.
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you, tomorrow,... You're always a day closer to my next Disney trip!

Here here!

Well, here's hoping that everyone will give negative feedback.  Maybe we should all contact them and say that we are not happy with the new returns time (I will meet them half way and accept the slightly later departure).  Seen as we seem to be regulars they may take some notice.
