Space Mountain - identity crisis?

A few weeks back someone mentioned that the Disneyland Railroad suffers a bit of an identity crisis in being called both EURO Disney Railroad and refering to the park as the Magic Kingdom.

Well I was on the HiddenMickeys website and they list a whole load of "fun facts" about the park.

One states that until TWO WEEKS before opening Space Mountain was going to be called Discovery Mountain (after a previous design concept) and as such the ride is filled with "DM" logos.  The logos could be found on walls, signage and the coaster cars themselves.

Can anyone state if this is still the case?  Or did they ammend it when they created Mission Two?

Apparently there is at least one DM still visable!!

there were 'DM's on the sides of the coaster cars, and i think there were some on some of the lights in the queue- they covered over the DMs on the cars when they re-furbed them for mission 2, im not sure about the rest of the DMs- i think some still remain (like the one in your photo)

It is such a shame they covered the ones on the cars. It was such a little gem of trivia and was the first thing I checked when the new trains rolled in.  :cry:

I believe the backside of the entrance sign also still has a DM logo.

This is what I love about a lot of Disney Parks, there are little things that general visitors won't have a clue about because they are too busy rushing around between rides without taking in a lot of the smaller details.

The Hidden Mickeys are a great example, many guests to notice the more obvious ones but even us Disney fans probably haven't found a lot of them yet. There's the little details like the names of Imagineers on Main Street, my particular favourite one is the "Contractor: Elias Disney 1901 (I think its 1901)" on the pavement of Main Street, it always brings a smile to my face.

Only the biggest Disney fans will know about Discovery Mountain and the reminants of the signs. I love the name Discovery Mountain but it just doesn't sound as exciting as Space Mountain.
