18th December

The metal structure grows a bit more:

And they covered the construction walls with thousands of little stars:
(glad it wasn't me doing that job)

20th December

Kids can now join a new Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger club, by filling out a form and posting it through the hole in the construction fence.  By joining the club, kids get a free invitation to return to the park (for free) and test out the attraction, which is a good way for DLRP to capture an audience and make sure they return to the park when the attraction actually opens.  :)   There's also a website for the club: http://www.disneylandparis.com/buzzclub

More photos from the 20th:

A nice overview, with the comet flooring:

The walkway towards Videopolis:

21st December

It's amazing how much they still have to do for the queue/entrance of the ride:

Yep, that is the future entrance:

So much left to do!! :

23rd December

They're almost done with the flooring outside Constellations now:

24th December

The construction walls are gone!!  The flooring looks nice, though a bit unexciting for the amount of time they spent doing it.  At least there aren't holes in the ground from the LOTLK giraffe anymore!

And finally...

Mike on the dlrp.fr forum noticed that they've done something odd with the Constellations signs.  They seem to have covered the old signs with a new 2D cut-out piece, a bit like those new ones in Disney Village.  Am I right here?  I'm sure the old sign was made of metal, infact it does definately look like they just stuck that thing over the top of it...

But why?  My idea is that they've altered the sign in some way and won't uncover it until Buzz is finished too, so that it all makes sense together.  OR they could have just covered the sign to protect it from all the construction work.  OR it could have been like that all along!!

Anyway, here's the photos:

I hope you've enjoyed these updates!

Thanks to dlrp.fr, Mike, Joel, GuiGui and Picsou for the photos.  :D [/b]

Well, the sign *has* been changed, so surprisingly I was right for once!  Here's what it looked like before:

So they really have just stuck that 2D sign on top...

Can anyone else see a small amount of blue colouring visible on the new sign?  I'm really beginning to think that maybe they've changed the sign to fit the new ride next door (either changed the sign to show a new name and colour, or maybe just kept "Constellations" and made it blue).

What do you think?

Oh dear god no, why change such a lovely sign :( , well Constellations would have been nice if it had stayed as it was, though suppose the whole Mickey and telescope would not work with buzz and his toy universe of inside.  So oh well it must have been changed and I can see Blue, so I'm gonna go with it's gonna be some type of buzz thing, maybe buzz lightyear looking through a telescope how original that would be  .

They could maybe use a silhouette of Buzz flying, with one arm out in front...

The weird thing about this is that Mickey is still there.  Unless they're going to replace him, then he must be being used in the design - if there is a new design.

I'm still trying to stick with just thinking that they've covered the sign to keep it safe or while they clean it or something...  :?  Fingers crossed!

Do you think we're getting some additional promotion for the ride in the form of a small parade???  They probably still have a few costumes left from the small Toy Story parade back in 1995...

Anyway... DLRP has released a French pressrelease with facts about the ride.  Here're a few.

- Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast is as large as 1376,50 m².  It has 88 targets which guests have to shoot with their lasers to gain points.

- The attraction is 163,87 m long.

- Certain targets are hidden in the scenes.  They get revealed when others get hit.  For example: the "Alien-in-a-box" on Planet Z has 3 hidden targets.  Each one gives more points then the previous one.

- Extra-Terrestrial creatures, similar to the ones of the New-Mexico Roswell legend, are being used in the 6th scene, Planet Z.

- The Green Planet inhabited by the Little Green Men, looks like a huge head of one of those martians.

- There are 725 Little Green Men in the attraction-

- A ride dedicated to Buzz Lightyear is present in each Disney park in the world: California, Florida, Tokyo, Hong Kong and now in France.

- When exiting the ride, visitors can compare their score on a special board mentioning the ranks compared to their score.

- Visitors can purchase their onride photo with their score printed on.

Oh this actually sounds fun, more fun than Duel in Alton Towers and Tomb Blaster in Chessington, I think this could definately add more fun to the day at Disneyland Paris, plus knowing me I will get addicted and force myself to go on it numerous times during my vist  .  Plus the Little green man part sounds interesting.

Buzz mini-site on MSN France!  It's a very mini-site with information about the Buzz-club and the Laser Blast ride (in short what the ride's about, an interview with Imagineer Laurent Cayuela and some Disney World photos).

It looks like a satellite dish or a laser gun... probably a laser gun?

I was very worried when I saw it too, even though I think they're on the official concept art for the entrance, they still look a bit out-of-place when you first see them.

If you take a virtual step back and look at the photo below, though, I think it looks just about alright.  They've copied a bit of the style of the Visionarium building, and mixed it nicely with the cartoony Buzz style...

OK, so it might look a bit rubbish next to Orbitron or Space Mountain, but then so does Star Tours... I think it might be good to have a bit more variety in the theme of Discoveryland...

Maybe I spoke too soon?

Look at those scary pointy green things in this photo:

Apparently they're for the corners of the entrance arch. Please, no....  I thought they were going to really amaze us with the exterior of this attraction... don't ruin it with green pointy things DLRP, just don't!!!

It unfortunately looks like the original concept for the entrance hasn't changed:

I don't know why they feel they need to make it look like that, it doesn't fit with the rest of the building at all!  And I *really* hope the logo they use isn't the one in that concept art!

I still like the look of those weird electric-like wires they have running around the entrance though.  Do you think that they'll be done with fibre optics?  It'll be something special for our version of the ride anyway, and from the looks of those newest photos, they've started to install the first part of the effect already (the black thing underneath the laser gun / satellite dish).

A mini-parade for the opening would be really cool!  They did something like that in Tokyo and California didn't they?

It's not the "normal" thing for DLRP to do, but then opening a new attraction isn't "normal" for them either!!   It would be nice if they did something for the opening that normal park guests can enjoy, rather than just have an exclusive VIP night like they did for SM:M2.

A small parade on opening day could be possible, but I doubt they'd do any kind of year-long event.  Having the Buzz meet 'n' greet area that was rumoured will probably be the most we'll get.

I guess that the lightning effect around the entrance is based on the entrance of the WDW Buzz ride:
