I doubt it was Disney's decision.  I imagine there are logistical reasons why Eurostar have set the times as they have done

Thanks Epcot Boy, did you get this from Eurostar? I assume that it's 23 Feb - 11 March (inclusive), we actually travel on 11 March and it was going to a very early start getting to Ashford for 8.30am.

I accept Davewasbaloo's point about daytrippers etc, but you could say it's beneficial for those from further afield (ie the North or South West who choose to travel Eurostar. They now don't have as much as an early start, and may possibly save the expense of an overnight hotel stay.

Just trying to see the positive side  :-"

Indeed that may be the motivation, in the hopes they will encourage more travelers from further North. God knows St Pancras is far more convenient than Waterloo was.
since 2001 (many before that)

QuoteThat is terrible for day tripers or weekenders though.

oh.....
all I can say is that I was planning on going to Disney for a day trip whilst the services were early and late

I've always wondered why there's only one direct service per day - I'd have thought they'd have the daytrippers service, arriving before the park opens, one arrriving early afternoon, and another arriving late aternoon / early evening (and going back, at least one more that get's back to london in time for people to get connections back home)

I would of thought that too

but then I doubt its Disney's decision considering the tunnel is very busy
does anyone know how much 'influence' Disney have over the Eurostar Disney service?

Although I love St Pancras and it is definately easier for the majority of people, I've actually found it harder to travel since the stations been moved because I come from the south coast so my train to London would terminate at waterloo, making it perfect for me! Don't get me wrong, it's still the easiest way to travel

Love Eurostar - especially the effort that has gone into the theming on the lifts etc. at Ashford station.
My only gripe is that the direct train doesn't stop at the new Ebbsfleet station as I could be there in about 15 minutes in the car from where I live  :(
Other than that, I'm going to have to find out if I can get a train from Ebbsfleet to Lille and then perhaps change to a local TGV. Anyone know if that's possible ?
 Actually, now I come to think of it, how easy is it to go via Paris? I'm assuming that the local trains go from a station on the other side of Paris from the Eurostar terminal ...?

Paris Gare Du Nord to Disney:
take the RER line D to Chatelet Les Halles, change to RER A.

It take about 40 mins.

Whilst it is a pain in the neck to negotiate the Metro with suitcases and pushchairs it is perfectly do-able!

Don't go via Paris: you have to get the Metro or RER from Gare du Nord to Chatelet and then another (30-40min) RER ride to DLRP. Doesn't sound like you waste much time, but Gare du Nord is huge, and you may have a 15-30min wait for each RER train. Plently of hard work and stress to start your holiday. Changing at Lille is a walk in the park!
(I think this should probably be in 'Trip Planning,' by the way)

July 2006 Patio St Antoine @Nation (RER commute to DLRP)

May 2015 Hotel Cheyenne

So can you not get a Eurostar from Ebbsfleet International to Disneyland Paris? Is it that, you can, but it's not a direct train, and stops at Lille?

Having quickly gone through the Eurostar site, it seems that's exactly it, a roughly 30-40 minute stopoff at Lille.

Here is an article I have just posted to my Salon Mickey blog //http://www.salonmickey.co.uk/ that may be of interest to anyone planning a trip from the UK to Disneyland via Eurostar next year.

QuoteFrom the 4th of January 2010 Eurostar will stop the direct London St Pancras International to Disneyland Paris service in both directions on Tuesdays and Saturdays except during school holidays.

On Tuesdays and Saturdays Eurostar passengers will be able to travel to Disneyland Paris from from St Pancras International to Marne-la-Vallee Chessy by changing at Lille International to a TGV service Marne-la-Vallee for Disneyland Paris .

Alternatively passengers will be able to travel from London St Pancras International to Paris Gare du Nord International where they can reach Disneyland Paris using the regional RER train to Marne-la-Vallee.

Eurostar spokes person Aude Criqui commented on the changes "The daily direct Disney service will be reduced to five services a week from 4 January until 31 March 2010 on weeks outside school holidays".

"Eurostar has worked closely with Disney to ensure that the services operate on days where there has traditionally been higher demand. The service will therefore not operate on Tuesdays or Saturdays".

"Not operating these services will naturally ensure travel on the other weekly services Disney Direct service which will ensure better loadings and cost efficiencies for Eurostar. However, Eurostar can easily reinstate these services if the demand increases".
