Every bit of detail is amazing;

Im guessing, these may grow and cover the back ?

I don't think so. It supposed to look like a film set, so that's why they've got the all the metal stuff showing on the back. If they did grow though it would look a bit odd because if you viewed the backdrop from the front there would some random trees popping out the top :lol:

What's wrong with the metal backs in the first place?  :)   The ones in Florida are a lot uglier.  :lol:

Well I'm certain that there won't be any this year but it would be so cool to have some next year, and I wouldn't put it past them not to do it either :)

I really hope not, in my humble opinion they look tacky at night and absolutely hideous by day.

Something more restrained like the lights inside Studio 1 would be great though. They could start by wrapping lights around the palm trees... Although, I suppose it depends how much they want to stick with the 1950s theme, because then it'd have to be far more traditional.

I simply can't believe those details like the "Hollywood" in the metal grates around the trees. The small planters with trees and bushes at the corner of each facade are great too, really add depth to what could have been a very 2-D area. Remember a few months back we completely expected the back of the sets around La Terrasse to be bare steel like the Hollywood hills? :shock: You could almost say they're spoiling us now.  :wink:

Blue-ish filters have been added to lights on the 2D buildings:

i was told at college that adding "tints" to building like that adds a sense of depth to a scene and puts more attention on the closer buildings (ToT) disney tend to force perspective alot :P

all though... i would probs pay more attention to the giant hotel just to the left :P

Yeah, it definitely separates the background of the scene from the foreground. The lights on the vertical signs of the background buildings also stand out more now. I was never sure if they were actually illuminated before, but yes - of course they are. :)

The forced perspective of the street looked a bit more real in the original shot (which was in the last Photos Magiques newsletter as a wallpaper), but this is very stage-y and dramatic. Very pretty.

Looks like a HTH-shadow lay over this region now. Like it.

I really think this colour change workd wonders. It pushes the 3d buildings to the fore, and also highlights the Tower and the 2d facades. A really good move. My only critisism about the area.....

The Hollywood Hills. I always worried what the facade of the hills would look like 2d as it is a totaly different texture that brick work, and I feared would look extremly fake. During the day light its not so bad, but looking at that picture, it kinda backs up my worry. The white light highlights the fact that its a 2d backdrop

This is a long exposure photo, which brings out the the light a lot harder then it actually is. It looks a lot more natural on the hills then on this photo.

Oh, the moon is real, in case anyone was wondering.   :lol:

Raptor, I have to say, that is a fantastic photo! It captures the atmosphere of the area really well :wink: I really like the new blue light filter. It looks so much better than just plain white :)

Ah I see Raptor, yep that makes sense thinking of all my didgey holiday photos! lol. Now it makes sense as to comments made regarding the 2d building looking flat after the area intitally opened. I suppose the difference between the 3d and 2d buildings can only be commented on in real life. The 2d sections are not so photogenic after dark as no shadows are cast on it from the building shape when its lit up.
