@James6

I believe the middle of the train is the smoothest place to sit, because coaster tracks are designed around the middle of the train. The experience is optimum in the middle.

If I were you, I'd ride Space Mountain last thing at night. If you go on it in the morning, and you get a headache, or get your head smashed around, or your knees bruised, it could ruin the rest of your day in the park.

Having said that, roller coasters run slower in the morning when their wheels are cooler :-)

Ah ok :D Thanks for the advice, will decide when there, especially as it's part of EMH.

Thanks again :P

I find sitting at the front the worst.

If i ever ride again I will try the middle.
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you, tomorrow,... You're always a day closer to my next Disney trip!

SMM2 is pretty rough when you compare it to the very similar RnRC, but nothing in comparison to old Corkscrew at Alton. Now THAT was rough. :D

I find with SMM2 as long as you sit 'properly' it's not too bad. I also think it depends on height as to what you bash - I'm quite small and ended up battering my shoulders far more than my head.

okay this is gonna be an odd question haha! Does the saftey restrain come down automatically over your head or do you pull it down yourself? haha very odd question i know but i sometimes get obsessed over little things like that especially as its gonna be my first coaster rides when i go in a couple of weeks! haha!.
How much do you get thrown about i'm very petite? will it be worse for me?

You have to pull it down yourself, then the CMs walk through the train checking they're locked in place. I get fairly thrown around and I'm 5'11". You might want to hold on tight... ;)

One thing you can do is brace yourself properly. The restraints have metal bars on them that you can hold. If you hold them properly, you can push yourself down in the seat. Also ensure you keep your head well back.

I must say I was really dissapointed with SM :( The theming in the building looked incredible, it's just a shame the awful restraint's stopped me enjoying it.  In fact on my ride, we were the only people on the train and we still chose not to re-ride.

If the restraint's didn't ruin it, it could have been incredible. But it is strange, talking to others that day, not everyone is affected and it's very body size dependent it seems.

how much does your head get thrown about?
and also how bad are the loops do you actually realise that much?
and james6, how did the restraints spoil it for you?

It's hard to describe really, but it's dependant on your height. For example I'm quite tall so my head didn't actually get bashed at all, it's my shoulders that got murdered and I've still got the bruises to prove it. The loops, you know when your upside down but no you don't realise that much.

And they spoilt it because, as I am tall, I was only held in on my shoulders, the restraint's were really hard and because of my height, the rest of the restraint was nowhere near body, therefore at any point on the ride with any force, it pushed down even further and clamped my shoulders.

Like I say it's body size dependant, and with restraint's that were suitable for those that are taller it'd be an amazing ride.

I think i must be the perfect height because out of the 10 + times ive rode SM:M2 over the past 3 years ive found it wild yes, but have never hurt myself.

i love this ride i never have the problem of feeling pain when im on it.... but then im quite short (only 5"2) =] got to admit i have bumped my head a cupple of times on the more rough parts of the ride, but nothing substantial, to be honest i find indiana jones more painful than this ride....

I rode it on Tuesday and it was probably the smoothest I've ever felt it. Rode it on Wednesday and today and it was rough as ever. It really does suffer in comparison with RnRC. I'm not entirely sure that the restraints can be blamed though, it's simply the ride itself.

I managed to avoid battering my head by bracing well but did really whack my elbow one.
