Quote from: "DisneyAlba"I saw the Wall-E dvd in Dutch stores with cardboard packaging. That box looked rather naff, actually (and prone to damage?). Is it the same cardboard box in your areas??

Yip, dodgy cardboard box in Ireland too. Took me a minute or two to figure out how to open it. Def. going on the top shelf so the kids cant get it, wouldn't last two seconds.

Wall-E was voted "Best Picture" of 2008 by the LA Film Critics with "The Dark Knight" as the runner up.  =D>

Quote from: "IMDB"Walt Disney/Pixar The Los Angeles Film Critics Association (Lafca) announced their winners today and in a surprise turn the group voted to award Disney/Pixar's Wall-e as their Best Picture of 2008 and astonishingly have The Dark Knight as their runner-up. I say the decision is a surprise only because Wall-e had basically been counted out for no reason other than it was an animated feature, but the La crix have really bumped up against tradition and even including the "it will never be nominated because it's a comic book movie" as their runner-up. A great day if you ask me, it shows some serious growth, but the surprises don't stop there. For Best Actress Sally Hawkins took the prize for Happy-Go-Lucky and we haven't heard much of a peep about her since the film's early October release. Heath Ledger took Supporting Actor with Eddie Marsan, also of Happy-Go-Lucky.

At last.....This should make up for a disappointing result with Enchanted, that should have received numerous awards in my opinion.. :)

Nominated for Best Animated Feature and Best Sound at the BAFTAs. No surprise there.

Will it beat Persepolis and Waltz with Bashir? It has to win Sound at least.

Oscar nominations are announced 22nd January. I still don't think it'll get a Best Picture nom, but we'll see...

Just finished reading the full list of BAFTA nominations, and I'm a little surprised. Basically because they're 99% identical to every other award ceremony so far this year. What's happened to them? There used to be a time when there would be a slight deviation from the 'expected' nominations, and made the Baftas more interesting for it. But now it seem they're trying to align themeselves as just another Oscar indicator rather than trying to stand apart from the crowd. Ah well. Anyway, good to see more nods for Wall-E. Shame it didnt get mentioned for Best Picture too, but as I just said, the Baftas are just another sheep this year.

There is a new Nomination in the BAFTAs... Best Actor: Michael Sheen for his role as David Frost in Frost/Nixon

Don't remember Mike being in the GG line up for the category

It was also nice to see Lasseter comment on the Nomination of WALL-E during his Brief interview for Bolt on BBC Breakfast on BBC1 this morning... wearing another one of his Movie Themed Shirts... Which I want the materials too to make waistcoats for me for Teaching Practises... expect to see more posts on the shirts and the materials for them... I really really really want some

Someone, somewhere really needs to create an online database of all his shirts.

I didn't know he was Breakfast this morning. Can't watch it online either. :( I'm surprised he was doing the advertising for Bolt... I guess he really is The New Walt Disney (Almost).

:big: I finally watched my WALL-E DVD on Sunday. OMG, the BURN-E short was absolutely hilarious! The bit where he finally succeeds and that epic music comes on just had me in stitches. :P I really can't decide now if I prefer Presto or BURN-E. They're both the greatest Disney/Pixar shorts I've ever seen.
