Quote from: "lil-shawn"Here is another Video of the Quee and Onride...
It is realy a sheme Paris wont get it, looks like a lot of fun.
Sorry but i don´t buy it, that it would be to expansive, they had money for the
Ugly Toy Story PlayCrap and don´t have money for this....

Totaly agree with you. They should do this at DLP too. The ride needs urgent attention and this would be a very nice upgrade without building anything from the ground.

Disney Gazette has posted an article about the Grand Opening of Star Tours II. Recently Disney CEO Robert Iger is part of nearly every opening of a new attraction. In this case it is just an upgrade, but since George Lucas was there as well, I think he wanted to be there instead of Tom Staggs, head of WD P&R or Meg Crofton, head of WDW.

Take a look at these videos by Inside the Magic:

This attraction just seems to be amating.

Here's an official video on Disney Parks' YouTube channel. It's called "Look Inside 'Star Tours - The Adventures Continue' with Ashley Eckstein and Star Wars Friends"

Here's another video, from Jeff Lange, which is 21 minutes of the Imagineer interview they held about Star Tours 2. As the description says:

"Guests ask Kathy Rogers and Steven Speigel questions about the new Star Tours at Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios."

I don't know about everyone else, but I feel now like there are now TOO many videos when a new attraction opens. It's kind of overload, with the same information being repeated again and again. Anyone else feel that way?

I'm a Star Trek fan and I really like how the Imagineers paid tribute to that show at Star Tours II:

Star Trek (USS Enterprise NCC 1702) and C3PO:

Disneyland has just posted the best Disney Parks TV advert ever, on YouTube. Check this out. Darth Vader goes to Disneyland. What a great way to promote the new Star Tours: The Adventures Continue attraction:

I love how the adverts for the DLR have humour, as opposed to this whole magic/memory/"yay Disneyland" stuff for DLP

Thanks for the video. It is fantastic. It puts DLRP's advertising videos to a shame. why can't they air such great videos instead of these cheap "We are going to Disneyland" videos. It annoys me so much that DLRP became such a kiddie park.

Yep, reasons 1045 why DLP does not fully feel as good as DL, despite having the opportunity of being better (after all, it is prettier).

Here's another good video about Star Tours 2. This one is 12 minutes of interviews with people that created the new ride:

Now that Star Tours 2 is open, I thought we should re-read this quote:

QuoteThere will be several points during each journey where the audience will be able to change where the story is going. "There's an incredible number of different variations," explains Al Weiss, president, Worldwide Operations, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. "You will rarely, if ever, see the same show twice. And it's all in 3D.

So the audience will be able to change where the story is going? Well that didn't happen, did it. Sure, the story changes from ride to ride, but the audience doesn't control it at all. Maybe the audience control thing was a feature they planned, which didn't really work out like they expected, so they cut it?

While I think Star Tours 2 looks fantastic, it's not actually that innovative, is it? The only real innovation is the randomised video. If you think back to the original Star Tours, that was the first theme park simulator ride, ever! Major innovation. Sure, Star Tours 2 brings High Definition 3D video to the ride, but you can get High Definition 3D video at home now. It's hardly this super futuristic technology that no-one's seen before. I mean, you'd expect them to use that kind of technology now that we're in 2011; it's pretty standard stuff.

So, my point is, 24 years from now, I don't think Star Tours 2 will have aged as well as the original Star Tours did. I think the technology will seem even older than the 1987 Star Tours seems today (at DLP) in 2011, because the original version was really state-of-the-art and really ahead of its time.

They only replaced the video, or am I wrong on that? Disney didn't improve the simulator and that means it's still the one from the 80s. I'm not sure if ST II will last that long like ST did, because there are better simulators available.

That's why I don't get why DLRP is hesitating with the upgrade.

Yesterday at the D23 Expo 2011 in Anaheim, Tom Fitzgerald presented "The Making of Star Tours — The Adventures Continue". Here's how Disney describe the presentation in the D23 Expo 2011 guidebook:

QuoteA few years ago in a conference room far, far away (okay, Glendale), Imagineers and George Lucas' Industrial Light & Magic began laying the groundwork for a new version of Star Tours. If you've been on the attraction (and we know you have), you are well aware the Force was with them. Find out how they did it with Tom Fitzgerald, executive vice president, Creative Development, Walt Disney Imagineering.

Thanks to user "thebugger2000" on YouTube, you can now watch the full thing in 1080p HD, in two parts:
