Upgrade Dining Package or Pay Extra at each meal?

We have our first trip to DLP the first weekend in August.  We are staying at Santa Fe and have the half board standard meal package.  I know you can use your voucher in any restaurant up to its value.  If we paid the extra to upgrade to Plus are you still restricted by the amount on your voucher?  For instance we are booked at Café Mickey and the meal is either 33.99 or 41.99 (on standard we would have to pay the difference over 27).  If we had the plus it would cover the lower menu price - do we still pay the extra if we wanted to eat something on the 41.99 menu?

I hope that makes sense - just trying to work out whether it is easier to upgrade or just pay the difference once we are there.

One menu in each table service location (excluding Auberge de Cendrillon and California Grill) is identified as the Plus menu plan option. In Café Mickey that is the three course dinner with a soft drink, which if paying cash costs €41.99. If you pick this menu and tender a Plus meal plan voucher, there is nothing more to pay.
