Good news everyone! I've worked out that the average number of days between a Disney Theme Park opening is 6,114. So going by that a 3rd gate for Disneyland Paris should open on December 11th 2018. 2018 also happens to be the 25th anniversary so it would be a great  time to open it... no?  [-o<

EDIT: Sorry for my really bad maths, the 25th anniversary is in 2017, but still....

Now that would be good. However, you have to remember that DLRP can't afford to have a 3rd gate as WDS caused them to shoot themselves in the foot.
Though by the time you think they'll make a new park then it is possible to do.

Question - is there a contractual obligation for Disney to begin work on a 3rd gate by a certain date? I've been looking around online, but all information seems apocryphal or just repeated rumors. Does anyone know for sure?

I believe that there is something in the original contract with the Frech Government to have a 3rd park built sometime relatively soon. But I'd imagine that's been changed.

A long, long time ago i read on another forum that there's a contract that states a 3rd Gate must be opened by the 20th Anniversary.  So either it's be re-written, it was lies or somehow DLP managed to hide construction from everyone in the world without even a hint of it (i don't know maybe some of them picture billboards they seem to be in love with now :P )

I thought the agreement was for 2017 which is why they were thinking of building the F1 track. But I reckon 2017 is the perfect time for a new park, it gives Disney 8 years still to work on Walt Disney Studios.

If DLRP will get a third park in the future, WDI should consider a park that already exists. I think DLRP could save a lot of money when they use the plans of an existing park. That's the reason why I think that the only park that should be considered as a third gate, is a one to one copy of Tokyo Disney Sea. Epcot is too big, DCA wouldn't work in Europe and the weather is too cold for AK.

I know that TDS is one of the most expensive parks ever built, but Euro Disney SCA would save the costs of creating new plans for a new park. There would be no research and development, because all attractions already exist.

I think I've read somewhere that TDS was built for four billion US$, including the Miracosta Hotel, the monorail and Ikspiari. So maybe it is possible to build this park in Paris for 2 billions, because there will be no monorail, no Ikspiari and no creating of new attractions. Still a lot of money, but a new hotel is included and I think it is still less expensive than "imagineering" a new themepark.
