I agree that compared to the US parks DLP can seem hard done by, then again unless somethings changed in the past couple of years the US parks are funded by Disney themselves and DLP is not. I am thankful what ever we get in DLP and comparing it to the US parks is highly unfair considering the huge difference in funding.  :|  As much as I would love all the budgets to match the US parks its unrealistic to think that. Theres no point saying the US parks have X amount of shows and DLP only has X because the US parks have a much bigger budget to work on than DLP.

In an ideal world would I want DLP to have the same love and funding as the US parks? Of course I would! Dont get me wrong there, I would have LOVED DLP to have been the first park to have the ToT like it should have been, to have the moving mouth characters in all its shows instead of having it removed all together. However if the budgets were changed and more was spent on shows and less in another area there is no doubt there would be a similiar thread complaining about how something else is being changed or not being down. Its swings and roundabouts :(

I don\'t know when, I don\'t know how, but I know something is starting right now.
Watch and you\'ll see, someday I\'ll be Part of Your World.

Quote from: "seanmartina"We were there from july 26th untill 1 aug, and i must say compared to previous years, this is our 8th visit, the missing shows affected the experience in a big way, its the shows that made the visit, the streetmosphere, which is non existent now, under staffing was very evident around the parks this year, with staff being deployed to different parts of the parks, dressed in wrong uniforms for the area, one example of the cuts is the stunt show, used to be 6 black cars and a red car in the ballett section of act one, but now there is only 2 this carried on through the show.. less motorbikes... to have 3 theaters empty in high season in unthinkable, videopolis, chapperal, and the  the pooh show on the  fantasy stage.. staggered opening of many attractions, less service, but on the plus side for disney the parks were packed, 45 min waiting for alice in wonderland, 60 min for indy, and 60 min for star tours, these would normly be low waiting times...  people wont know the difference shows or no shows, but i think i am going to stop visiting for a while and hope things return to former glories..

My words!! :(

Agreed. If they're cutting shows in order to fun refurbishments and future rides then that's fine by me. There is a recession on and they have to make cuts somewhere.

It's already been established that those are different budgets... My guess is that the money that could have been allocated to, say, a proper new show for Videopolis, has gone into the New Generation festivities. After all, that is all part of Entertainment, no?

What they should invest in is keeping the difference between them and other parks, and that was the magic, all the magic, not part, people who have visited for years will watch in horror, seeing it all torn apart, these are the guests they need to keep, in the past when they cut, attendance dropped and quality suffered, come the 15th every  thing was back on track, vast improvments and quality returned, it was the right path again.. but now it seems nothing is safe from CUTS CUTS, and this means LESS LESS people... so less money then a vicious circle begins...

But its not only the entertainment being cutback here. Its everything from maintenance to park hours. Timmy makes the point that all the money on entertainment has gone into Toy Story Playland. And in a way he's right. I have no idea on the price tag of TSPL but I'm sure it could go along away in helping to fix up existing rides, extending park hours, providing better Summer entertainment and employing a decent number of Cast Members at the park.

Reccesion or not many other Disney parks are managing to get by very well. Some with record attendance numbers. If Disneyland Paris is strugling thats down to them having a poor buisness structure and relying far to much in the past on discounted packages. Now days people are holding back waiting for Disney to release cheaper deals before booking. Which is cutting into the profits.

It scares me to think how far Disneyland Paris is able to cutback and yet still have people defending there moves and decisions. Its time to stop defending these poor decisions and stand up. We need new Management that understand the buisness and know how to make a profit without slashing budgets off everything. The current lot mostly trained at WDW and headed by Philippe Gas as CEO are not capable of doing the job.

The money come from the same source in the end anyway. Funds for refurbs of a rotten ship and crumbeling castle has to be taken from some. WDS building the rat ride and having built TSPL also has to come from somewhere. All expenses added plus the fact that not very much is going on in the parks is a signa that the shows have been cut.  It can´t be that they want a calm summer. New shows and perhaps parades for the 20th celebration cost aswell. They can say what they want but adding all expenses and looking at the plans for the rest of the summer speaks it clear language.
I think it would be good if the park took a year or two with out shows just to sort out the mess it is in.

I think there is a new Beauty & the Beast show coming soon as auditions have just been held for the roles of Belle & the Beast, however j believe it's only a short show in front of the castle like Snow White was & not a full blown show in one of the theatres. I could be wrong tho so don't take my word for it but I know that there will be some sort of musical event going on at some point! If might not be on the same scale as Tarzan etc but at least it will be something new to look at I guess, even if only for 10 mins!!

I think the show they have shown this summer is beyond defending, its utter madness what they have done... this was my worst visit by far, £2500 for that!!!! they really need to get the act together... from the disaster 14 july fireworks, to the drastic cuts in staffing, neglect and bad ideas all round... even in 2006 before all the studios expansion the Disneyland park was in a lot better shape.. lots going on.. and that was still not ideal..

people today are missing..
