Film triggers rat craze in France

It may not have featured at Paris Fashion Week, but in France there's one must-have item this season: a rat.
Ratatouille - an American animated film about a French rodent with lofty aspirations - has prompted a spike in rat sales across the country.

"Since the film came out in August, there has been a real fashion for rats," said Gerald Moreau, vice president of rat support group APRAC.

"There's no doubt it has changed the perception of rats," he told the BBC.

"Before rats were seen as disgusting, but now people see them as intelligent, cute, social animals."

Since the film's French release, the number of visitors to Mr Moreau's l'Association de Promotion du Rat comme Animal de Compagnie (APRAC) has increased eightfold, from 50 hits per hour to more than 800, he said.

The sale of rat accessories from the site, meanwhile, has leapt by 40%.

We saw it last Thursday and loved it so much !

I love animals and the rats in that film are just so cute!! And we thought that the art of animation was better than ever before, Pixar's really a master in doing that ! The food in the film looked so real  :shock:

I'll probably be seeing it at the weekend aswell. All my friends are sick of me talking about it

Oh, really?! I'd never have thought that it could be released later than in Germany in the UK  :shock:

But it's now released there too, isn't it? Have you already seen it? If yes, I hope you liked it as much as my boyfriend and I did ! I loooove Emile, he's so cute (as is Remy)!

Today i went to the cinema, had the choice of nanny diaries or Ratatouille, sadly i choose the nanu diaries. Bad mistake

Looks like I am the first British member to see Ratatouille and wow, I really liked it, didn't go expecting an amazing movie.  Definitely a cute movie, Disney have some really nice movies this year, obviously it's still not as amazing as the Toy Story's are, but the whole storyline works really well.  Plus I do love hearing in the cinema people being what is this?  when Lifted came on :lol: .

Well, having seen it just, I have to say, its fantastic. I really cant believe how far computer animation has come since Toy Story. Its like an oil painting come to life. On top of this, a witty and enaging story. Great film, go see it as soon as you can!

I could get 2 pet rats and name then 'Remy' & 'Emile' but my mum & sister hates rats.
