I shockingly came across this story on BBC.co.uk. It seems that they are already writing the script for High School Musical 4! The third film is due to start filming at the end of this month in America somewhere.

I think they may kill the entire franchise by doing this. I think 3 was going a bit too far (being released at cinemas and all) but it seems that three films is just not enough for Disney anymore.

OH NO! They'll write more of those brainwashing songs...and my ears will drop off!

When I told my dad he said "I didn't think there were that many mentally ill people in the world!"

Well, the second was actually quite good (in the same kind of so-cheesy-its-good way)... let's wait and see.

The difference with HSM to me, compared with say Shrek etc, is that the audience really seem to want more films, more songs... It was made such a success by the audience and not just by marketing brains. We've really only just recently seen them capitalise on it with the merchandise two years late.

It might get a bit strange when we have the live show of High School Musical 4: Let's Get Another Out Quick Before They Grow Up! playing at Walt Disney Studios in 2010 though. :P

^Hehe, I can imagine that now going round WDS, either that or it'll be a mash-up of all 4.

I agree that 2 was good as in bad cheese thats good but I think it would have been nicer to end it as a trilogy, a 4th film could ruin the franchise and I think peeps will be bored by then.

I thought the 3rd One being named SENIOR YEAR and reading the synopsis on idbm, that Troy and Gabriella along with the rest of the Cast are each going their separate way... So unless its their final summer together... I don't see it working.

Get me the Audition details I'm sure their looking for a quintessential Brit to dazzle the Americans with their stereotypical British Accent, to make Miss Montez stray from her Bolton rather than the continual other way round.

Uh oh, not another! Ever since i saw the 2nd one i always thought 'how and earth can this be called disney?' 4 Movies of the same musical theme I think is a little overboard and I hope this wont later lead to a High School Musical attraction at the parks

Oh please not a 4th!!   The first one was barely bearable, I didn't go anywhere near the 2nd one and I'll be keeping well away from the 3rd one... Since I love musical-style films I thought I'd love it, but I tried to watch the first one and it was so bad it just made me cringe   I just hope WDS don't go any more mental on it than they already have - I'm already VERY unimpressed that they've scrapped the cinema parade and now there's TWO (not one, but two!) HSM shows..! Overkill maybe?!?!

^Sorry to upset you but if I remember correctly we won't see any of the original cast in the 4th one, thats if it gets made. This would make sense as in the third film they leave high school.

I hope they don't make another, it'll just kill the franchise completely :? Although I thought I heard somewhere that they were going to make a TV series, although that could just be my imagination

looks like this may happen  :(

it also looks like this is a straight to TV version (like HSM 1 and 2) according to imdb!

it also states a possible plot but it maybe fake!!

Don't you think this is going into overkill now?? and with Camp Rock 2 going into production soon....can't the Disney geniuses think of any other films?

I fully agree!
Major overkill.
But I can see why they are doing it, while there is a market for these films and they can make money from them then they should. Plus there are a lot of kids that will be more than happy to see some more HSM stuff. Though I'm not one of them
So I'm happy for those that will enjoy seeing more HSM and Camp Rock styled films.
Though I really wish Disney could bring out a brand spanking new film, instead of just a sequal.
