Hi all,

My first solo trip went brilliantly! Schedule worked out well and the park was quiet so not much time spent queuing. Day 1 (Monday) spent in Magic Kingdom and day 2 (Tuesday) spent half in Studios and half in Kingdom. Longest queue was Crush's Coaster (1hr) as the single riders lane was closed for some reason. Hollywood Hotel Tower of Terror and Pirates of the Caribbean were about half an hour and all the other rides were 5-10 minutes maximum. Really enjoyed the Spring theming and associated events. I used VEA to get from CDG-DLP and for the first time I used the TGV train to get back from DLP-CDG. It worked out very well and I was amazed just how fast that train goes! Only cost E17.50 so slightly cheaper than VEA. Stayed in the HiPark Residence, Serris. Very nice studio type accommodation with kitchenette. Great value at £50/night. Brisk 10 minute walk from the parks although there is a bus service if you don't want to walk. Park tickets were cheaper due to the enhancement programme closures. Paid £72 (instead of £116) for 2 days/2 parks but MUST pre-book at least one day before your arrival as this offer is not available at the gate. Cost of trip (not including spending) was in the region of £360 - miles cheaper than Disney holidays at £662!

Lot's of work going on in and around the parks. It doesn't affect the experience in any way but anyone going should be aware it is very extensive. Twelve months from now with the 25th Anniversary in full swing we can look forward to some big enhancements.

Hi Colin,

sounds like two days filled with Magic and a little bit of waiting  :D

Sounds lovely. I think some day I will do a solo trip. Probably when my kids are grown up and not interested in coming with me anymore  :P

great to see another solo traveller :) I must keep the TGV in mind for my next trip. I never think of doing for the return to the airport

Slimy yet satisfying

Good luck with that idea...our eldest two who are now in their mid twenties still come with us. They bring their partners too! Our group just keeps getting bigger not smaller!

LOL that's hilarious. I have a feeling it'll be the same for us!

I did get away just with friends a few years ago though and it was a nice change not having children to look after, so that's probably the closest thing I'll get to a solo trip.
Planning a ladies' only trip again for this Autumn. Can't wait :)

Bad-pink-tink: The TGV is good but the trains sadly are not that frequent. I discovered they only run every couple of hours so if you just miss one (as I did) it's really too long to wait for the next one and you might as well go and get on the VEA coach. CDG is a big airport and taxing to the gate, getting off the aircraft, walking through the concourse, getting through border control and collecting your bag can take some time. I would say you need to touch down at least one hour before the train to catch it. The return trip worked out nicely, leaving Marne-la-Vallee at 1758 for the 10 minute train ride to CDG to catch a 2045 flight.

My advice would be to take the train timetable with you so when you get through into arrivals you can make a decision.
