Hi all

I dont tend to post much on here, more of a browser to help with my trip planning!

However, I have booked to go to DLP 4th - 8th October this year on a girls holiday with my young daughter (3.5yrs), sister and mum. We booked last September so at that point in time were advised the refurb was due to be completed September 2015.

I have been keeping a close eye on the refurb, especially the major sacaffolding surrounding the building and the dates for when that will be coming down. i spoke to a disney advisor in March who advised June however after reading a couple of bits online and speaking with a disney advisor today, I have now been informed the scaffolding is likely to be up until the end of the year as they are running behind with the works.

We have now requested to see if there is a chance of us being moved to Sequoia Lodge (stayed here last year and loved it) so just waiting to see what they say. i know some people say the works didnt affect their stay however knowing what I am like, the scaffolding would really bug me!

Anyway, I thought the update might be useful to those who have booked to stay or who are thinking of doing so....

Aside from this I simply cannot wait!

Thank you for the update :-) I'm staying in newport bay in august but am aware of the work going on, the only thing that would bother me is if we can't use the outdoor/indoor pool so I'm hoping my travel agent can tell me nearer the time if that will be available or not!

We was thinking of staying here next March so glad to know that the work is hopefully going to be finished soon, we shall have to ask when we finally book.

I too am worried about this. We are booked for August too and wasn't told about the refurb. Not sure about our chances of changing hotels as booked with Walt Disney Travel Company. We wanted Newport Bay as it is so pretty but wont be with scaffolding up.

We have managed to change hotels now and have opted to stay at the Hotel Cheyenne - It was very qucik and easy to do however we went through our agent. When I did speak to Disney directly they advised that they are moving epople (if requested and based on availability) however are not reimbursing nor compensatiing so if you change but they new hotel is more expensive then you will need to pay the difference.

Looking on Trip Advisor at the reviews and pics at the moment I have to say I am pleased we have changed!

Although we were on a quest to do all the DLP hotels, after staying at the Cheyenne last time we loved it so much. So we are going to go back there on our next trip! I'm sure you'll have a great time!

I spoke to WDTC who advised scaffolding shoukd be down by 30th july. Was offered sequia but at £500 more as desl has changed. We are going to take a chance as there are also good reviews. X

This July? That would be awesome as we are going in August!  :D

abismummy

Yes this July they said. Also they stated that pools have been ready for months and all the inside is complete. Don't know how accurate this is but don't want to pay loads more for another hotel. Fingers crossed all will be ok for August! x

I don't mind a bit of work going on - but the pictures of the hotel completely shrouded were a bit scary! Have all the rooms been refurbished?

Nudge234

I've read on trip advisor the opposite and that it will definitely not be finished til late this year?! And the pols were unavailable, hard to know what to believe and whether to take the chance!!

abismummy

It is really hard to know what to believe. I have now emailed the holiday company with my thoughts/findings so that I will have a reply in writing. I think they will probably sit on the fence though. They have already said that it clearly states the refurbishment on their website but I cant find it, so have asked them to point out where this is.
