Hi, visiting DLP in late June. Have been 3 or 4 before and usually go to Paris for a Day while staying onsite.

Are there any other good places we could go to for a day by train from the DLP station

We have two teenage daughters

If you want to have a change from Paris you could consider visiting Versailles Castle.
I know you can go there direct via RER from DLP's station, but don't ask me for details (you'll have to ask google ^^) because the one time I went there I went by car. But I do know its doable and it's apparently a direct line without having to switch (at least that's what I was told).
It's very beautiful and you can easily spend an entire day there
