Mark Stead, Deputy general Manager & Chief Financial Officer of Euro Disney recently had a round table meeting with a few Euro Disney shareholders. He talked about numerous things, but the biggest reveal was the plan to add free wifi to the parks, which could happen as early as next year!

There are also plans to use park passes with RFID technology, this is currently used in the magicbands at Walt Disney World. RFID technology could mean that guests can use one pass for their hotel key, park tickets, fastpass, photopass, etc ánd connect it to a mobile app on their smartphone (similar to mymagic+ at WDW). Mark Stead did not give a launch date for this, however, work on the mobile application apparently began already, which is co-financed by The Walt Disney Company for half a million dollars.

I am confident that 'our' Disneyland is starting to keep up with the rest of its 'siblings' around ghe world, and it definitely deserves it!  :D

Regarding the free wifi: FINALLY!!!!! It's such a pain to run back and forth to Mcdonalds each day to let my family know how we're getting on through IMessage!

Why McDonalds? There's free wi-fi in the Disneyland Hotel and you should get decent reception between the hotel and Main Street Station.

That sounds great!
And there is more:

-Concerning the 25th anniversary, he said, that there will be a spectacle much bigger than for the 20th anniversary.
-Concerning WDS, he talked about an expansion with new attarktions and shows. Also Disney Village is about to be expanded.
-Hotel New York will close for one year (a huge refurbishment and upgrading)

Hurray for free wifi across the resort.

I think mymagic+ would work wonders in Paris. Except for fastpass+, there are too many people that go on spur of the moment trips to be planning that part of their trip etc.

I'm intrigued by the 25th anniversary and all the other new attraction rumours at the moment, I can't wait to hear more of their plans.

A year is a long time to close a large hotel but it was said recently (possibly by InsideDLP) that New York and Newport were being upgraded from 3 to 4 stars so I suppose that long of a close makes sense.
Next visit to DLP: October 26th
Coaster Count: over 320

My opinion is the same. I think it would be great to have the possibility of 2 or 3 fastpasses at the same time, but not to take them in advance (in Paris)

I did not know that :) we didn't have it at Santa Fe last year and I assumed it would be the same for every hotel. We were told to use either Starbucks or Mcdonalds. Thanks for the tip!

That sounds great  :)

I loved the magicbands in combination with fastpass+ in WDW, so I'm looking forward to see them in DLP.
Hopefully they'll also migrate to the mymagic+ app instead of refurbishing the current one.

I personally don't think that MyMagic+ would be a clever solution for Fastpass...I think many people don't want to book a trip to DLP (and the fastpasses)  in advance (in big advance), they want to go there a bit more spontaneous (even without annual pass).

And i personally like the old, paper fastpasses. Of course, the machines have their own cost. But, as I said it before, i (again, personally) would like to take my fastpasses spontaneous, when i want to. (I would also like to take 2 or 3 at the same time  ;D)

My opinion  :) :)

I like the paper-fastpass system too. Sometimes it's nice to get something "real".

For mymagic+: So much money for less effect...it's sad that TWDC invested in a not really good "get-more-money-from-the-guests"-thing while universal builded some new Harry potter rides...
(also intresting, that they need sooo much money to get an app...)

And wifi? really?! WOW!  ::)  Means they are now on a level with Starbucks and Mc Donalds...after all this years?  ;D Oh sorry...they are next year on a Level with Starbucks...not 2014..2015.

That's maybe right, but on my last trip to WDW in January I felt very comfortable with the option to book fastpass+ for the always crowded attractions 1-day in advance. So this feature was a big time saver for us and we could concentrate on other attractions.

From my point of view you should be able to book fastpass+ max. 2-days in advance in order to cirumvent the possibility that all fastpasses are booked and blocked on a long term basis.

It's good to see DLP catching up with other resorts on technology etc. Hopefully they will have learnt from the mistakes in WDW over the Magic band etc.

I'm excited for the news that the 25th anniversary will be bigger then the 20th. I spell a brand new parade and a new show or night time parade. The new attractions for WDS is great news as well for a park that is rapidly becoming a much more enhanced park.
