Hi

I have only started Pin trading in my local Disney store and they are great.

I hope to Pin Trade in DLRP for the first time when I go in September but I get the feeling the Cast members there are more 'Strict' so to speak about trading.

I have a few questions and if anyone can shed any light on it, that would be great or share your own experiences - I would love to hear about it!

Do you have to swap equal quality pins? Meaning you swap a LE for a LE or does it not matter so long as it's a proper Disney trading pin?
Do the cast members own the pins that are on their lanyards or are they simply the companies, given to the cast members for the purpose of trading with customers?
Do they only swap if they personally want what you have or are they just happy to trade any customer?
Do they often say no to trading?
Is it best to take LE and Cast members pins with you to trade moreso than core pins?

Thanks to anyone who can answer! :D

Hi Aveen,

I might be able to answer some of your questions as I've been trading quite a lot in the park.

1/ Your pins don't have to be equal value when you trade around the park. Just as long as it's an authentic pin you trade. False pins are almost always a little thinner and lighter than the originals so be sure to check them before you swab. If you however want to trade at the pintradingboard, which is up at about three different locations in the park during the day, you have to trade by equal value, so LE for LE and regular for regular.

2/ As far as I know the pins are given to the CM's by the company. Sometimes they have their own as well.

3/ They have to trade any costumer for any pin. Only rule is that you can only trade them pins that they don't already have on their lanyard.

4/I've never experienced a CM saying no to trading. They always seem happy to and are very chatty. They even sometimes show you their lanyards while helping other costumers.

5/ Bring with you the pins you don't really want as you can trade off almost any pin in the park. If the CM you want to trade with already has the pin you want to trade away, then trade with the closest other CM first and then return to get the pin you want. I really get the feeling that they think pin trading is fun so they get to talk to lots of different people. You can also bring your best pins just to display them on your lanyard, but be careful not to lose them.

And when you trade, try to get the most special pins to trade off later in the park. It might come in handy. Also at the pin board.

Hope this helps and that you have loads of fun with your first DLP pintrading experience!

Does anyone know more about the board?

Can you only trade 2 pins on it?? Is there Cast member ones? Or just LE and Core pins?

There are all sorts of pins. And yes, you can only trade two, but some castmembers are nice and let you trade more. The limit is there because of the pin scouts that sit in the park and sell rare but overpriced pins and try to steal the good pin board ones away from regular and new pintraders. If you go to DLP with someone they can trade two as well and if they're not into trading then they can trade two FOR you. But when the board comes out you'll have to hurry as there's often a large crowd hovering around it. Some of my best pins are from the board so you can get very lucky. Hope that answers your questions Aveen. :-)

Well, it's definitely worth a look if you happen to see it out. As far as I know it's out in Disneyland Park at about 6. Hope you get to see it! :D
