Cars
Disney presents a PIXAR film

Coming June 9th. (US)

"Lightning McQueen, a hotshot rookie race car driven to succeed, discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line, when he finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. McQueen gets to know the town's offbeat characters- who help him realize that there are more important things than trophies, fame and sponsorship."

I was SO sceptical about this film when I first saw the early teaser on The Incredibles DVD, but... I think Pixar have done it again!  From the short synopsis above and the *amazing* teaser trailer, I reckon we're in for a treat.  This is no Chicken Little.   (disclaimer: my prediction might be wrong, but hey - this is Pixar - what will go wrong? nothing!)

Edit:  I still can't understand anything the tow truck says though, is it just me?

Whilst The Incredibles stretched how to show human emotions and movements in CGI, it looks like Cars will take on the laws of physics and push CGI even further.  Take a look at those shots in the Teaser where the car is spinning around - it looks so realistic, and you can really see the sense of weight in the car.  (Yes, I do watch those Pixar Making Ofs too much, but still - it looks good, right?)  :)

As for our WDS attraction - whereas I was originally scared the film would be rubbish and so the attraction wouldn't be that good, I'm now really looking forward to it!  Radiator Springs sounds like a pretty cool place, and the scenery in the teaser is gorgeous.

Actually the whole teaser is gorgeous.  It's brilliant.  Please make friends with Pixar again, Disney!

Edit2:  I love the ad campaign for the movie so far too, how they're marketing it as if it's actually a new car is quite funny - the voiceover in the teaser is great.

Looks like it might get a bit emotional... Sally reminds me of Jessie.

I just watched the trailer...  my jaw is still on the ground.  It looks beautiful, the characters are great, the story looks perfect, the voice acting is brilliant, the dynamics and movements of the cars is spot on... This is going to be AWESOME!

I can't wait to see what they do with the "Radiator Springs" area of Toon Studios now...  :o  :o

For the Ghibli and Mizakaki's fans, Here's a cool nod to Miyazaki's Lupin III in CARS. There is a character named Luigi, a Fiat 500 who is a big fan of Ferrari, the very same model that Lupin III drove in Miyazaki's movie "Lupin III". This was spotted by Mickael W Howe over at AnimationNation and i put it in pics on my website:

Looks really cool, so nice to see how original Pixar are sometimes with their movies, shame Disney can't always take an original idea, still this to me is not going to be bigger than POTC2 this year, or maybe that's just my personal opinion :P .

Yep, that was me.  I think a lot of people didn't like the first teaser, it didn't show much of the things which make a Pixar film so amazing: comedy, character and story.  Now that they're giving us all this amazing stuff though, of course I've changed my mind!

I'd say for me it's equally as anticipated as POTC2 actually, I forgot about Pirates when I posted that comment.

In terms of box office figures, which do you reckon will be the bigger film for Disney?  I'd say they actually both have the potential to be the #1 and #2 films of the year...!  :?
