Merry stitchmas has just removed the current shows off the castle stage.

So they can do it for Xmas just not Halloween. It was clearly a decision but decided finances were against you.

Poor show DLP. You can do it - you just couldn't be bothered.

Maybe they do this because the Halloween season lasts only for one month, while the Christmas season for some months?

Yup. Halloween is half the length of Christmas season. People still get to see lots of Halloween stuff - including several new things - they're just keeping the 25th offerings running too. So it's a compromise of both worlds whereas the 25th has given way a bit for Christmas.

I think it's the parade that's the big factor here - the Christmas parade is returning and if it does twice a day like last year with Stars on Parade running too that limits the amount of time they have for shows on the Castle stage.

It's better to do one show several times than 2 shows once each.

They're putting a lot of new stuff on this Christmas so I don't think they're cutting back much!

Besides, Christmas will always be a bigger deal than Halloween in Europe.

However it's clear it's a decision as I said from the offset.

Really really poor.

I don't think it was a 'we can't be bothered' or poor on their part. It's about being smart. There's still LOADS of Halloween stuff going on, including new things and people still get to see the 25th offerings. Lots of M&Gs too which people love.

Some people are saying they're disappointed they won't get to see the anniversary stuff at Christmas so you can't make everyone happy.

We all know the resort isn't flush with cash and I'd rather them make smart decisions. Obviously with their pool of performers it's an either/or situation. Halloween went one way, Christmas went another. Training and hiring a load of extra performers for just a few weeks (with all the added costs that comes with) simply isn't worth it when they can do a really good Halloween regardless.

Disney announced Christmas in the last few days at the same time as Halloween.

If they weren't afraid of the negative reaction from Disney fans it would have been done much sooner. It's a complete sham to get people to book on the hope there will be something good, and then scale it down.

They could have announced it months ago.

claire2281

When have they EVER announced the Halloween offerings months in advance?

The fact is, there's just as much going at DLP for Halloween this year as last year, it's just a mixture of Halloween and 25th stuff.

But if you've got an annual pass, seen all the 25th stuff, then no there isn't.

The M&G that have been advertised are mostly characters that are always out in any case.

Halloween for all other parks has been known for 1 month plus.

They were probably still deciding what they could do based upon the fact that last year's plans weren't viable.

They don't plan things based upon annual pass holders. The majority of visitors are still those who are visiting for their one trip per year - the only reason they sold so many annual passes before was because they were often cheaper than a week's holiday, something that's now been rectified.

If practically they had to choose between a bigger Halloween or Christmas then I'm glad they chose Christmas as it's a much more important holiday in Europe.

Personally I'll be interested to see what they do with this Frontierland focused Halloween and looking forward to hopefully PM being the star of the show before it closes for its refurb.

Slimy yet satisfying

Halloween used to be based in Frontierland with only a small amount of décor elsewhere. It used to have a huge banner strung across the entrance and was called Halloweentown instead. This is where all the themed shows were and all the baddies used to congregate there for M&G. It was great. The Molly Brown was decorated with webs and ragged sheets/bandages with ghosts/mummy's and skeletons walking around during the sailings. Giant webs, pumkins and bats decorated the land and character spiders chased people up and down the street. Once a night around 5pm there was a Halloween parade with characters dressed up and Mickey/ Minnie driving a boneshaker hearse drove down main street. The Electric parade would follow later in the evening. It was brilliant!

The WDW halloween season has already started if you can believe it! they started their halloween parties last week. I think I've seen a few bits from the ED92 twitter page (just pins I think) but other than that they usually have a alot of nightmare before christmas merch.

Yeah I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with Frontierland - I do think it's the perfect backdrop for Halloween. I know many years ago PM used to have a projection show on it. I wonder if this will return at some point?

That's nuts!

But yeah like I said, Halloween is MUCH bigger in the US than in Europe. I can't ever see Paris extending the celebration that long.

I would have mainly gone to DLP for Halloween to see the daily Halloween Cavalcade/parade - the song 'Vive La Vie' is magic. I am glad that I didnt book the trip before it was announced that the daily parade wouldnt be happening this year.

Ive been in touch with Dlrp via Twitter today about this carry on and they sent this reply you can see in the attached photo and this link :
http://www.disneylandparis.co.uk/events/halloween-at-disneyland-paris/.
Now correct me if im wrong here but when you click on that link the first thing you see is a picture from the Halloween cavalcade parade and then scroll down you see pictures of central plaza decorated with pumkins and stuff, underneath it reads : Skip through the fun-filled Halloween ambiance at Disneyland® Park bewitchingly bespoke with two types of spooktacular surprises - from jolly Jack-o'-lanterns to ghoulish ghosts on Main Street, U.S.A.®.
Now if their is no cavalcade or no Halloween decor other than Frontierland this year well Disney are misleading people and engaging in false advertisement.

they are  just using the picture of the calvalcade to promote Halloween so maybe you are right about false advertisement.

Tbh I find the WORST place to get information about DLP is their website. It's a mess, outdated and they don't change the content often enough.

This isn't an excuse I just don't think their web team know as much about what's going on in the parks as the fans do. I wouldn't be surprised if the people doing the website didn't even know that was a pic of the cavalcade!
