Bringing a Camera

Hey everyone,

My apologies if this question has been asked before but my partner and I are going to Disneyland Paris in September and we're planning on bringing a DSLR camera to capture our memories.

We're a bit worried about its safety when riding the rides together. Can you leave your camera/items with cast members at ride boarding points? I know that some rides have different exit points so I was interested as to how this would all work.

Are there any rides I need to be aware of? Can I bring the camera on some and not others?

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you all in advance,
Joe

Hey, I take my DSLR with me too. I keep it in a Crumpler bag so its well protected and don't bring it if i'm planning on going on rides like Tower of Terror just incase! (I always stay on site so its easy to go back and pick it up after these rides).

Hope that helps!

I think the only ride they wont let you take cameras on is RC coaster, health and safety issues with flying objects. Some rides like the opening of RockNRoller coaster they dont like you taking pics of because of copyright issues. Obviously the ability of your camera will determine whether you can take photo's on the faster rides and watch out taking flash photo's on dark rides, that can upset other riders (Most of them are on this forum :D ) To my knowledge there are lockers as you go under Main Street station however i dont think you can use those any more due to possible threats to DLRP. Personally I always take a day camera free to enjoy the rides and mark one day as loads of photo's day leaving the camera locked in the hotel safe.

I've taken my DSLR camera a couple of times and it was no problem at all (the only reason I don't take it every time is because by the end of the day it feels very very heavy...)

I had it inside a protective case (or even just wrapped by a jumper) inside my backpack, and on rides I just keep the backpack under my legs (on some rides like Pirates I put the straps between my legs to keep the bag from touching the possibly wet floor...) And it was always fine, including in rides like Space Mountain.

You cannot leave your stuff with CM, it's only in the Parachutes that they have a place to leave your bags.

In some rides they wont let you keep your camera around your neck (for instance in Space Mountain, since it would get in the way of the restraints).

To be honest, taking pictures inside most rides is a waste of time, they're too dark and you move to fast for any decent pictures to come out (and the flash not only ruins the ride for everyone around you, most pictures look terrible with the flash) But there are plenty of great photo opportunities everywhere else... :)

Couple of years ago I invested in a monopod to use there, well worth it to get shots over the crowds during parades and shows and steadying the camera when taking detail shots of the castle. Bought a light weight Manfroto which folds down really small.

If your interested, have a look here......https://peakdesignltd.com/capture/

I use it all the time, especially when I visit DLrP. I find it absolutely brilliant, no straps etc. It works well with any DSLR or CSC.

When I go into or on a ride I just cover it with my jumper/shirt/coat. It's extremely secure.

I would recommend it to anyone fed up with carrying around a camera :)

I love that!!! The main reason I dont take my DLSR with me it's because it's a pain to carry it around all day long around my neck...

This is going into my birthday present list.... ;)
