Summer Nightastic returns this year, June 11 - Aug 29. Headlining the event is the grand opening of World of Color at Disney's California Adventure.

"Summer Nightastic!" Returns
Beginning June 11, "Summer Nightastic!" returns to the Disneyland Resort, featuring exciting evening events that will electrify the night. "Summer Nightastic!" runs through Aug. 29 at Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure theme parks.

Headlining the entertainment is the new nighttime water spectacular – "World of Color" – at Disney's California Adventure park. Surpassing all previous water productions, "World of Color" brings Disney animation to life with powerful fountains that are the stars of the show, forming the world's largest projected water screen. In the making since 2005, "World of Color" combines hundreds of magnificent fountains, LED-produced dazzling colors, and an all-new kaleidoscope of audio and visual effects to take water-infused entertainment to a new level of artistry.

Located in Paradise Bay, Disney's newest production features an unprecedented infrastructure of water effects, larger-than-life projections, lasers, fire, fog, surround sound and stunning images. This technical wizardry, combined with classic, animated Disney and Disney•Pixar film sequences, creates an emotional experience for guests as jaw-dropping effects sweep across the lagoon and soar into the sky.

Meanwhile, at Disneyland park, "Fantasmic!" ignites the night with thrills, life-like creatures including a fire-breathing dragon, and spine-tingling adventures for Sorcerer Mickey. Also, in the skies above Sleeping Beauty Castle, "Magical" sparks to life with a dazzling fireworks spectacular in which colorful choreographed pyrotechnics burst and soar to a soundtrack of celebratory Disney songs. "Magical," which premiered in summer 2009, features both Tinker Bell and Dumbo in flight over the castle.

04.29.10 - Summer nights at Disneyland Resort will be brighter and more exciting than ever as Summer Nightastic! returns, bringing with it many old favorites and the most dazzling show of all: the new World of Color.

"Nighttime is especially exciting during the summer at Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure parks," said George A. Kalogridis, president of Disneyland Resort. "The addition of World of Color to our Summer Nightastic! entertainment program continues to raise the bar for the after-dark experience at Disneyland Resort."

The premiere of World of Color will add new sparkle to an already radiant lineup of favorite nighttime experiences in Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure. A formidable, fire-breathing dragon joined the cast of Fantasmic! last summer, and the Magical firework spectacular also debuted in 2009, sending Dumbo into the air over Sleeping Beauty Castle for the first time.

Summer Nightastic! 2010 premieres Friday, June 11 and continues nightly through Sunday, August 29 at Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure. Magical fireworks continue through Labor Day weekend. World of Color and Fantasmic! will continue to entertain guests on select dates year-round.

Joining Summer Nightastic this year - World of Color, Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular (evening performances), and Toy Story Midway Mania  (new game, "Rex and Trixie's Dino Darts" and the addition of several Toy Story 3 Characters)

The new Toy Story Mania! game, called "Rex and Trixie's Dino Darts," will involve shooting virtual darts at all new balloon targets in a primeval world filled with volcanoes and lava balloons. You'll be cheered on by Rex (the nervous Tyrannosaurus rex) and his new friend Trixie (a blue Triceratops, one of the toy characters from the new film) beginning in late May. Walt Disney Imagineering has also added some hidden surprises to the game that will be replacing "Bo Peep's Baaa-loon Pop."

A new addition to DCA for Summer Nightastic was just announced by the Disney Parks Blog - Glow Fest.

Last month we shared details of the popular shows and after-dark entertainment that are returning for Summer Nightastic! Today, we have more exciting news. A new, high-energy experience called Glow Fest joins that line-up to light up summer nights at Disney California Adventure park.

While "World of Color" brings a whole lot of color to the Paradise Pier section of the Park, you will find bright lights and beams of color in Sunshine Plaza and the Hollywood Backlot at this summer's Glow Fest.

Glow Fest begins with the sound of drums and powerful rhythms that will draw you to Sunshine Plaza. An electric energy fills the evening air. As the sun goes down, colors burst to life and music starts to play from a brightly-lit stage that seems to glow. Dancers and world music performers create a fun vibe that you will only find at Disney California Adventure park.

During Summer Nightastic! the daily experience takes center stage in Sun Plaza from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and continues in the Hollywood Backlot until Park closing, so it's the perfect thing to check out with your family, or if you're just looking for a fun way to cap your night.

I love that Disney is giving a bit more attention to the California Adventure!  /   I may not like all the changes that are happening (like the concept for the entrance...WHY would they take away the CALIFORNIA letters???) but I love that they're trying to expand the park and make it better.  It's always been good, but it could be great.

The CALIFORNIA letters have just had a nice makeover - each letter is a bright colour with the words "World of Color" written in them.

How amazing doy they look?! Lovely! Colour really is key in a theme park. These look modern, fresh and happy... unlike what was there before...
