Captain Pan

A. A. Milne's Yellow Bear, Disney's bear with an assortment of shows and movies, most of which became Direct-to-DVD/Video, in either CGI (My Friends Tigger and Pooh), or in Puppet form (Book Of Pooh).

John Lasseter Disney's head of Animation at both Walt Disney Animation and Pixar Animation Studios plans to revigorate the bear who live under Sanders for the Big Screen.

Lasseter will like all recent Animated movies since Disney's purchase of Pixar in 2006, take the credit of Executive producer, but from rumours at SDCC. Say that Lasseter has a vested interest in breathing new life into what is one of Disney's Highest Grossing Characters.

Now when Lasseter is vested in something, we get a result. The Prime example now is that John Went on a Personal mission to find a voice for Slinky following the death of Jim Varney for Toy Story 3, and has done so in the form of a friend of Varney.

Now My questions>

Will Disney go back to the books? or will they do another?
Who will be Winnie's "Owner"? Darby (My Friends Tigger & Pooh) or Christopher Robin?
Will it be in Disney's 2D Hand Drawn Animation or CGI?
Will it appear in Disney Digital 3D?

This seems like a very odd choice. It will be interesting to see what way they take it. I think they will go back to the books though. Also 2011? They must be quite a way into production of this already?

Few updates... Mark Henn, supervising animator of Princess Tiana, will be animating Pooh Bear, Kanga and Roo, and Andreas Deja will be supervising Tigger. Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx have written the songs. They're best known for... Avenue Q!

It finally has a page on the Disney Animation website: http://www.disneyanimation.com/projects/pooh/index.html

That says Spring, but the US release was reported as 15th July recently.

And does anyone else think it's more than a coincidence that a certain Disney board member (or colleagues) chose for every download of iBooks (an app on the iPhone/iPad etc) to contain a free copy of the original book? Particularly if this film attempts to restore some character and warmth to a franchise that had become horribly over-commercialised. Smart move.

It would be interesting to see what slant they take for the reproduction. Winnie the Pooh was one of my all time favourites when little so it would be good to see a different version. We will just have to wait and see for the finished result before we can accurately speculate over the film.
I am sure that whatever choice they decide to make for the film, it would be the right one as Winnie the Pooh has already captured the heart of millions of people including the ones that are close to me.

I really am looking forward to this film.

I agree how the franchise for Pooh has become over commercialised which is a shame.  I hope Christopher Robin is in the film and not Darby.
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you, tomorrow,... You're always a day closer to my next Disney trip!

You are absolutely right. Nevertheless I prefere the Pooh franchise a lot more than the princess franchise. In recent years Disney is only focusing on princesses.

Hopefully the new Pooh movie turns out great. My favorite Pooh movie is "The Tigger Movie".

I've realised that I've recently taken to watching the trailer for this if I feel a little down, it seems to hold that definate classic feel to it which only proper Disney movies can make!

Also, the songs are no worry to me, they did write Avenue Q, but showed their Disney side with Finding Nemo the Musical! I wonder what'll happen if the songs are well recieved? Maybe they'll be a new Alan Menken?
