We always go in September, after the kids have gone back to school and it's lovely.  Bear in mind that by 26th September, Frozen Summer Fun will have finished and Halloween hasn't started so the parks have no theming at that time.  It will be quiet though, because of that.  The ride queues will be pretty short, some rides will be walk on.

I follow a certain family (who are a family with disabilities) on YouTube. They do review/touring on lots of theme parks all over the place

We too have been at this time and it was the busiest I have seen it narrowly beating Christmas. Not what you probably wanted to hear

I'm thinking about a long weekend trip 27-29 May 2017 (Saturday-Monday). Other than standard weekend crowds, should it be unexpectedly busy? Whit Monday is the following week.
