Howdy!!

I was just wondering how many have 'popped' over for the day on the Eurostar and was it worth it once going through passport control etc?

I was planning on taking the indirect train as it gets you to DLP for midday(ish) and leaving at 18:52.

If anyone has done this, did you feel like you spent any valuable time there?

I am more than comfortable driving and was thinking that driving could give us more time in the parks as I could drive in early and leave as late as I wanted.

Any advice for going just for the day appreciated :-)

I've never ever done it in a day (also from the UK) but we have looked at day trips before! (Always ended up going for longer trips instead  - I can't resist!)

But I have found previously loads of coach trips which travel the night before + night after so you get a full day in the park. Very reasonable prices to approx. £99 for everything. If you are serious about day trip might be worth looking in too.

Sorry this doesn't address Eurostar, but always good to look at options.

I've done day trips the other way round from Brussels to London. If you aim for the first train in the morning and the last one back in the evening, you have a real nice day to spend in the city (or park in your case). Although you might get real tired at the end.

I am still torn between eurostar and driving -

Eurostar:
6 hour in park
Leave house at 5am
Get to park for midday
Leave park 6pm
Get home for 11pm
Cost: £145

Eurotunnel:
9 hours in park
Leave house 4am
Get to the park 11:30am
Leave park 8:30pm
Get home 1:30am (-1hour)
Cost: £123

Plus - I have two small children ages 22 months and a 3.5 year old who don't often sit still, so I may be better in a car where I can strap them in and they can't move, although it will be a long day!

To be honest, for that price I would definatly not, and I would wait untill you can go for more days in a row.
And with little kids, feels like you're going to be travelling more then being in the park.

It's an awfull lot of money to just spend 6 hours in the park.
It's going to get busier from now on, summer season is around the corner, the weather is getter better.  So how much can you reall do in a few hours.

Though, I to do this from time to time.
But I'm from Belgium.
I get up at 3.30am, make sure I get the high speed train in Brussels at 7am, I arrive at the park around 9am and go back home with the 6.52pm high speed train, and I'm back home 11pm-ish.

But, I only spent 50 € on the high speed train to get to Disney and back.

Wow! I can't help but think that is Brits pay a considerably lot more just to travel through a little tube under the sea for a short distance!! Saying that, rail travel is ludicrously expensive in the UK compared to the rest of Europe. In fact, £150 to travel to Paris is Cheaper than travelling by rail inside the UK

The next nearest UK city - for example if I wanted to travel from where I am to Birmingham I would have to buy a ticket in advance for about £60 - if I bought one on the day I would be looking at over £100-£150 (it's only 120 miles away).

I remember being in Italy and getting a train for 95 miles for about €7...


--- I see your point about it being expensive for just 6/8 hours, but then if I was to book a hotel that's then the costs of hotel, dinner etc all on top again, and as an AP holder I was just looking for a 'cheap' way to go back before our next week-long trip at Xmas!!

I have been looking into coach travel too...but with two little ones I am unsure if this is a good idea!

I'm not really sure.
Going from Brussels to London by Eurostar is 88 € (if you book enough in advance) and you pay the same from London to Brussels.

I have been looking into going to Rugby/Coventry later this year to visit a friend there, and he said the sooner you book the regular train from London to Coventry, the cheaper it also is?
But he did tell me, regular train prices can be extreme expensive aswell.

Wauw, that's ridiculous, 120 £ for that distance.
In Belgium you would pay (on the day itself or whenever, it's a set rate) about 15€ for a trip like that.

I get what you're saying though.
I was thinking of going just 2 seperate days during summer also, that would cost me 100 € in total, for only the high speed train.
If I were to go a weekend of 2 days, it would be 50 € train and about 80-90 € maybe for hotel.
So I'd be better off also to go 2 seperate days for just 1 day.
