Im asking on behalf of someone about which would be the best hotel for 2 adults and 3 children, they would prefer to all be in the same room so booking 2 rooms is not really an option. 

I would be really grateful if anyone can give me some suggestions to pass on to her.

The newport bay club has family rooms which fit 5.  They have two double beds and a single fold down in them.  That is the only one that I know off as I haven't stayed at the others when I've needed a room for 5.

As far as I'm aware the Santa Fe (cars theme) hotel Newport bay and the Disneyland hotel have family rooms. I've stayed at them all, depending on your budget it really doesn't matter they're all fine. You'll have early access to the park from 8am in these hotels.

I'm pretty sure the explorer hotel also has family rooms available but you'll need to use a shuttle bus to this hotel and I don't think your able to enter the park early.

If they're willing to drive Davy Crockett is a brilliant Disney owned site, about 5 minutes drive from Disney, but all the staff are still Disney staff, and as opposed to hotels room they'd be getting a cabin which has a small living area and kitchenette and 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and another with 3 single beds in.  It's a really lovely well themed site.  And the cabins are cosy in all weathers!

Booking two room isnt a bad idea. You will have two bathrooms which with three kids is always handy, and the room set up is likely to be 4 double beds between you. Santa fe definately does interconnecting rooms so just dont close the door between the rooms and lock the main door of the kids room. Plenty of pillows to prevent falling out and your wee ones can have a double bed each. Ours loved being in a big bed and couldnt wait to get in at night. It really doesnt cost a huge amount more if you book for 1 ad in each room and the kids between them both.

Cheyenne has interconnecting rooms.

Offsite, we'd recommend the Adagio, it has various size family apartments.

Every hotel I've stayed in (Santa fe/ Cheyenne/ sequoia lodge/ Newport bat/ New York & Disneyland hotel) had interconnecting rooms. It'd be worth doing a price comparison of family rooms and booking 2 adjoining rooms?

We always travel in a large group so always have adjoining rooms, I've never stayed in any hotel listed above that doesn't have the door in the middle even when we've travelled in smaller groups (now and then)

Hope your friend finds what suits them
