Summer Nightastic is the name of a new season at Disneyland this... Summer, obviously. There's new fireworks (Magical), an updated Disney's Electrical Parade and an updated Fantasmic!.

Official website: http://www.summernightastic.com

Last night saw the dress rehearsals of the new Magical fireworks. After the crystal castle effect at Christmas, it seems like they've taken another hint from Paris with the spotlights (correct me if I'm wrong)...

The madness of Tink's flying never fails to amaze me.

I read on MiceChat a lot of bad feeling towards 'Magical'. Why?

Its a great little show, seeing Dumbo and Tinkerbell flying around the castle is great. I'd love to see the show at Paris.
Yes, its cheap but the shows for 2 months, its hardly replacing the 'amazing' Remember Dreams Come True.

I don't mind the spotlights either in Magical or Enchanted Fireworks. They are probably just used so less fireworks are needed but they add a nice effect.

The new Fantasmic! sounds good. I can't wait to see the replacement dragon, anything is better than the old head on a stick!

I'm not that bothered about the Electrical Parade. I know its a classic but I much prefer the modern Dreamlights in Tokyo. I heard they are using the Tokyo soundtrack? Yay.

i think this is a really great firework show, much better than enchanted fireworks from
our park, i realy don´t like it and hope DLP will bring in a firework like this next year...

I think its a great show, the dumbo flying is brilliant as well as tinkerbell, and was a nice range of fireworks to go with it. 8)

Personally I prefer the shorter, punchier shows in Paris like Enchanted and Tink's Fantasy in the Sky, something with a bit more energy (I loved Remember... Dreams Come True).

These seem a little dragged out, with little connecting the quite overused music and themes together.

i think if DLP takes the music score and put in they´re firework style, it would be
one of the best firework shows.. its just my opinion...

Not. going. to. happen.

There are already concerns about the noise level in The Enchanted Fireworks.  We'll never ever see a daily fireworks display like this in DLP!

I agree, I only saw Wishes at WDW once, got bored after 5 minutes.

How to advertise your new Summer season:

QuoteWatch the video and keep an ear open for blatant Summer Nightastic! references:

            * The pin trader woman asks her to trade a Pixie Hollow pin. (Pixie Hollow will be open at night with new lighting effects as part of the Summer Nightastic! promotion)
            * The guys dancing with the light-up spinner toys dance to the Disney's Electrical Parade theme (The Electrical Parade will roll out new floats and enhanced lighting effects and an updated soundtrack during Summer Nightastic!)
            * One of the background dancer guys is wearing a Sorcerer Mickey hat and a Fantasmic! jacket. (Fantasmic! will reopen for Summer Nightastic! with updated special effects, a brand new dragon, and new Flotsam and Jetsam eels)
            * After the girl says "Yes," the group breaks out singing "It's a Summer Nightastic!"

Last night the new Fantasmic! Dragon's head fell-off/snapped at its Neck. Bad Times.

The media event is on Thursday, something tells me its not going to be ready/fixed in time.

Quote from: "Al Lutz"The disconnected Disneyland marketing folks are now wishing they hadn't focused the Summer Nightastic ads on the new Fantasmic dragon. Originally named Bucky, the replacement been christened Murphy because everything that could go wrong with him has, including a broken neck. It's looking rather unlikely that he'll work as planned for the big Thur media event. Too bad they didn't focus on Dumbo instead.

^ It's now confirmed by Disney that it won't be ready in time, but not because of a broken neck (ouch).

Here's the official version of the marriage proposal:

A really spectacular (but unfortunately Dragon-heavy) commercial:

There was also a great promo behind-the-scenes clip online before, but it seems to have been pulled.

Just watched some Youtube video's of yesterdays media event/premieres.

I loved 'Magical' it looks much better than the other days version, the extra pyro really made a difference.

The new additions for Fantasmic! are very good, the movement on Tic-Toc and Flotsam and Jetsom are very nice and really improve the show.
I'm particularly a fan of Tic-Toc!

Latest rumours about 'Murphy' the Dragon are that it could be ready in 2 weeks time, but could also take nearly 2 months to fix.
The ending is pretty rubbish without the Dragon.

Wow! That´s a great show!
Remembers me a bit at this imagineering forum idea with giselle singing along main street USA.

Disneyland's new fireworks show looks quite nice. Great collection of classic(!) Disney songs. I particularly enjoyed the Mary Poppins sequence. The end, with the arguing fairies and the pink and blue flares was a cute idea...
Dumbo, however, seemed more like a throwaway gag than a genuine element of the show. (Maybe he wouldn't have looked that out of place if they had included another flying character?)

But I have to agree with Anthony: the show is a bit on the long side. (And just as Kristof, I got bored quickly with the 15-minute bombardement that is wishes at WDW. - That side, I never get bored with Reflections of Earth...)

The Tinkerbell float for the Electrical Parade looks wonderful. I have to wonder, though, if it wouldn't have made for a stronger parade opening having the Blue Fairy still opening the show and Tinkerbell following her as kind of a "fairy garden" segment. Just a thought...
(And I just have to say it: I want MSEP back in Paris!!)

As for Fantasmic... what a disaster not having the dragon ready. But I suppose that is show business...
