Here are some pics from 14, 15 and 16 of July. You can see how the castle looks with different weather conditions and lights.

Daytime with sun

Don't ask me what the whirpool was because I don't know, but doesnt look very pretty.

Night

With rain

The galery was open also.

Perfect! :D They were great pictures!

So since all of the scaffolding and cranes are gone, does this mean that they're done? I thought they'd have painted the front roof as well. Wasn't that on the plan?

It'll be the new fountain that they've installed (for the 20th anniversary?).

They've been there for a while, you can see them in Discoveryland aswell in front of Space Mountain. I don't know their purpose though.

No, they are not done. The refurb continues during the night all the way through september. They still need to repaint several roofs.

I'd guess that's where the water gets filtered and pumped back into the waterfall...

Maybe they are having a break with the crane during the busy summer season before returning in september. Theu still have to paint 4 roofs and finish the 5th.

That would make more sense. XD

They seem to paint the roofs quite quickly, so it would make sense if they did that. It doesn't appear that there's anything left to paint, bar that. It's just that I was a bit confused, because I thought that it would have made more sense for them to paint the front roof when they had all the scaffolding up at the front, last spring.

I found these whirlpools in Discoveryland a year or two ago too. Curiosity got the better of me and so I decided to ask a Cast Member what they were all about.

Apparently it was a genius idea of one of the imagineers that seeing the behaviour of certain visitors in the other parks chucking their coke bottles and other rubbish into the water areas of the parks, installing these whirlpools would slowly draw in the rubbish and a grate is put quite far down into each whirlpool.

The rubbish is stopped by the grate and the water passes through to be pumped straight back into the water area.

Every evening after closing they can take the rubbish away thats still stuck against the grate and dispose of it.

It means a clean water feature for all to enjoy, about a year later in visiting I saw a teenager do exactly that, throw his water bottle into the discoveryland entrance, and it was sucked into a whirlpool in a minute (I must of looked silly running up to the railing to watch it! :D )

I could still kind of see the bottle stuck against the grate however the whirlpool splashing around did enough for a passer by never to notice it! Rather ingenious no?

I just hope that after the wonderful job they've done at sprucing up the castle, that they dont ruin it next year by - once again - covering it with garbage

Apparently, they have to ask Imagineering to do that, now.
