As part of the DCA $1bn masterplan.

The long-lost EuroDisney/Disneyland CA project is finally becoming a reality... at Disney's California Adventure. In Paradise Pier, the attraction will arrive using an omnimover rather than the suspended (Peter Pan's Flight-style) system originally planned.

It seems it will use parts of the current Golden Dreams on the opposite shore to California Screamin', with an overall theme suggest some kind of lavish seaside aquarium (correct me if I'm wrong..).

Expected: 2011

Jim Hill also reports today that it might arrive at WDW's Magic Kingdom by about 2015, giving it quite a few years of DCA exclusivity.

It's being sold as a "major attraction" rather than an E-ticket, since although it's very expensive, they don't expectations to be wrong.

Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh! This is the best news ever! I guess The Little Mermaid DVD made a big difference in the plans for this ride!

Do you think there is any chnace it will come to Paris? After all, it was supposed to be put here in the first place!

I think that it'll definitely increase the chances of it coming to Paris :)

Do you think it should go in WDS? I think it should be put in the actual park itself.

Well WDS does need a good-old-fashioned Disney dark ride, perhaps this could be it

There was never a Little Mermaid ride planned for Disney-MGM Studios Europe, it was always for Euro Disneyland, between Videopolis and "it's a small world".

See here and here for the original concepts.

This absolutely increases the chances of Paris finally getting a similar attraction, but I'd say not until several years after it opens in DCA, at the earliest.

I think they should build the ride. You have rides from other stories but from this one you don't and it's unfair :P but it would be, in my opinio to fantasyland. It fits better there than in the studios I think

No need to apologise! Before Toon Studio was announced, there were actually constant rumours of a Little Mermaid area or ride going in there.

It's amazing how this was obviously green-lit thanks to Tony Baxter & co. plugging it on the DVD - and the great sales figures of the DVD itself. There's something really great about that.

I agree Baloo, it's so fantastic that this is all becoming a relaity due to the success of the DVD!

Also, on the DVD, Jodi Benson (Ariel) recorded a line for the virtual ride, "Someday I'm gonna be part of that world .. ..". Do you think, as she is still very much an active member of the Disney Company, that she will come and do the audio for Ariel on this ride? Much like Kathryn Beaumont performing her original role as Alice in the US darkride of 'Alice in Wonderland'? It would make the ride 100% better if Jodi was involved, I feel.

Hearing their recent voices for things like Crush and Cars doesn't fill me with confidence that they'd get Jodi Benson, but if any Disney resort were to get her, it'd be California. They always seem to have the closest links with Disney itself, it's near Hollywood, so it's a good possibility. I never knew Kathryn Beaumont voices Alice in their dark ride, cool! :)

Was the dry-for-wet technology (where there are windows which fill with water as you "dive") planned for the original ride? This new version doesn't seem to have it, with its The Seas with Nemo & Friends clamshells...

Are they going to have the same sort of thing as 'the seas with nemo and friends'? With the real fish and the characters? That would be so cool... I was amazed to see Nemo and Dory swimming with real fish... and it would suit the little mermaid so well!!!

I totally agree that its about time Ariel got some Disney ride attention!!!
