I think its cause the 'summer season' has kicked off sooo early this year, it's messed up everyone's timing. Soon it wont be a summer season, just a year-long one

The script for POTC  has been delivered to Disney, reports The Hollywood Reporter!

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/p ... ney-185357

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides doesn't hit U.S. theaters until May 20. But screenwriter Terry Rossio has just turned in his script for a planned fifth installment in Disney's most lucrative film franchise.

Rossio tells THR that the still-untitled script -- his first penned without Ted Elliot, who collaborated on the first four Pirates scripts -- was delivered to Disney this past weekend. It's the initial step in putting together the key creative pieces for another Pirates film. Disney would like another installment, given the $3 billion in worldwide grosses for the first three films and the likely huge returns for the fourth movie, the first to be released in 3D.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has said he's in to make a fifth Pirates. And sources say Disney has made overtures to Rob Marshall, who took over directing duties on Pirates 4 from Gore Verbinski, who helmed the first three pictures, to return for another go-round (though no deal is in place for Marshall).

But they key question mark is star Johnny Depp. Will he sign on for a fifth installment in the franchise?

In an interview published in the current issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine, Depp says he hasn't seen the new Rossio screenplay but he isn't opposed to reprising his iconic Jack Sparrow character yet again.

"It boils down to story, script and filmmaker," Depp tells THR. But the actor isn't clamoring to jump back into the puffy shirt until a little time has passed after Pirates 4. He didn't relish the brutal schedule that saw him making Pirates 2 and Pirates 3 back-to-back in order to meet studio-mandated release dates in summer 2006 and 2007, respectively.

"It's not something where I would say, 'Let's shoot it next month to get it out by Christmas 2012,'" he says. "We should hold off for a bit. They should be special, just like they are special to me."

OMG, that Kermit clip was amazing. Johnny Depp, Steven Tyler and Kermit the Frog sounds like my idea of a dream dinner party.

Hey, welcome to the forums!

I'm going to probably wait until the weekend to see the new Pirates (I may be undecided over it but I want a fair judgement).  You can fine the full topic over the film here :)

I will be going to see it, but probably in a week or so. I also want to judge it myself since some of the reviews I've read recently did not show it as favourable..  :|

One example from the Daily Mail......

Quote
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (12A)

Verdict: Commerce-driven cinema at its most worthless

Rating:  1 Star  :(

Johnny Depp has admitted he signed up for this film before he read the screenplay. This does not surprise me, especially as Disney offered him $55.5million to make it. If he had read the script, the most honourable response would have been to throw himself into the mouth of a great white shark and do us all a favour.

Here it's not released until tomorrow and I just found out that the Original Version will only be shown in 3D, while the dubbed version will be shown in 3D and 2D.

I don't get it why POTC is shown in 3D. I think I have to watch it in 3D, because TWDC Germany changed Johnny Depp's German voice. And usually I prefere the OV.

You would like a review eh? :P

I saw it at the London IMAX in 3D. None of it is in IMAX and the 3D is pointless.

However saying that the actual film is great fun, captures the energy of the first one imo. It has fantastic set pieces, random yet awesome cameos and the special effects are amazing. I really, really enjoyed it, fantastic addition to the franchise. :D

I saw the IMAX 3D premiere (in Europe) in Amsterdam.
My thoughts? Actually (and I HATE to say it) I didn't thought it was very good... at all!
The only characters returning from the earlier movies were Jack Sparrow, Barbossa and Mr. Gibbs (and Keith Richards, but not in an amazing scene as he was in the third movie).

I don't know why I didn't like it. Maybe the characters missing (Pintel and Ragetti, those two 'silly' marines, Jack's amazing crew: Cotton, Marty... Cotton's Parrot...). Or because the story was... strange?

The movie has a great subject to tell a story about: the famous Fountain of Youth. But they just didn't! Blackbeard and Angelica, two very interesting characters, were just... present. No real background story of them, unlike Barbossa and Davy Jones in the earlier movies. So you can't really feel sorry for them or anything! Blackbeard is just bad and Angelica (his daughter) is a former love of Jack. That's all you get to know about them. As with the Spanish people: no background story, AT ALL!
You don't really get to know who's actually after the Fountain and who's not. Which is, in this case, not a positive thing.

A few things I really liked about it? The escape-from-London-scene was great! Also the scene where Barbossa and Jack are tied to palm trees is amazing. And the music as well (Hans Zimmer, so I didn't expected it not to be).
This was one of my favorite scenes (SPIOLER!) http://http://youtu.be/UYpsS8wmok4

If anyone has more thoughts, please share!
I'm going to see it again in IMAX, with some friends of me. Because they are going anyway ;-)
