Issues with Shareholders Club cards

Salon Mickey has tweeted that someone was refused Shareholders Club discount in a restaurant (not sure if it was one occurence or more). They were apparently told that SC discounts were no longer valid. Has anyone experienced anything like that?

It would be strange to withdraw just that perk, as I would have thought that the majority of SC members visiting would have APs and could get discount with those.

If anyone has any more information, can they keep this thread updated?

That's news to me. Haven't had an email to say anything...I would've thought that they were obliged to inform you of changes.

Sounds like it may have been (hopefully) a computer glitch, or a cast member that didn't know what they were talking about.

Sounds to me that Disneyland Paris is now fully owned by the Walt Disney Company alone and hence there are no other shareholders, the last remaining ones having been squeezed out at or around June 19th. Obviously with no shareholders left, shareholder discounts are irrelevant and may already have been canceled or will be done away with in the very near future.

I think that is unlikely as they have just renewed all shareholders card (including mine) for a further 10 years.

Have you actually received your new card? We haven't received ours yet.

I wonder if the problems mentioned in the original post was because the old/new shareholder card was being used?

No. Not received yet. I expect that it will be done in batches. It took longer than I thought to have credit to my share dealing account so it doesn't look like they are in a rush. It still states the same t&c's on the sca shareholder website so I would think if discounts had changed it would've been updated.

I'm not convinced they will issue new physical cards. I would have thought that they could just update their computer records with the new expiry date.

The cards probably only hold an id number, which is used by tills etc. to check the cardholders details from a central database.

Not sure that from an organizational point of view Disney has made the full switch from Euro Disney Associates S.C.A to TWDC yet. Look at the receipts you get in the park or my annual pass which I upgraded on July 13th 2017. It still says Euro Disney Associates S.C.A.

On June 19th 2017 Euro Disney was unlisted on the Euronext Stock Exchange
https://www.euronext.com/en/products/equities/FR0010540740-XPAR

Starting June 19th, there are no more Euro Disney shareholders.
Disney may continue some form of discount program for former shareholders but I sincerely doubt that.

They should get their act together though and make the appropriate changes in the cash registers in the park right away. It takes a software update to do that.

There is also a legal issue here which I will explore. How valid are credit card transactions with a non existing company. Will keep you updated.

Just a thought: it could be that they still continue to operate under the Euro Disney brand. Even though it is new owners, that doesn't mean that the operating company of DLP stop to exist. Just my 2 cent.

Hi everyone,

I went to Disneyland Paris last week and had a few issues with my Shareholders Club card. The card expired last month which should not have been a problem according to the email we received from the Shareholders Club on April 3:

"All the cards expiring by the end of the operations will automatically be extended and re-magnetized, without any action on your part. Thank you to keep your active card and to not take into account any expiration date written on this card.

The benefits and services will remain unchanged.
"

While I had no issues getting into Salon Mickey, my card was rejected when I was making purchases in the shops. Most of the time I could convince the CM to apply the discount manually. They then had to had to ask their managers for clarification and to apply the discount. A few times the CM also rejected giving the discount.

I did not try the card in the restaurants as we already had vouchers from our meal plan. I am sure I would have run into the same issues there.

I hope it's just a miscommunication. Though I think it's generally not a good behaviour to stop any direct communication to the club members after TWDC had acquired more than 95% of the shares. A little note thanking the shareholders for their support and/or at least the next steps for the final club card would have been nice.

"We will keep you informed through our corporate website and our Shareholders Club."

Unfortunately that page is now offline.

Has anyone reached out to the Shareholders Club recently and received any response?

Quick update:

I got an answer from the Shareholders Club this afternoon:

All cards expiring this year have automatically extended and re-magnetized, without any action on your part. Thank you for keeping your current card and ignoring the expiration date written on this card.

If your card has been refused at Disneyland (shops, restaurants or parks ticket purchase), you can make a complaint to our "guest communication" service with your proofs.

I don't think the automatic extension and re-magnetization has worked properly for my card. Though it's good to know that the new card should arrive within the next couple of weeks:

Between September and December 2017:

A new card will sent to all active members, valid for 10 years, without any action on your part. This card will grant you the same benefits and services as previously.

They don't own it all yet unless its been in the last week.

I think ccsvideo jumped in without knowing the full story, facts and events that lead up to th takeover.

How do they not own it all yet (although its inevitable they eventually will)?
