We are planning on our 2nd trip to Disneyland on the 6th-10th November 2017. Our last trip was in late June 2012 and the crowds were HUGE!! We are hoping to come during a quieter time.
I have a few questions I would like to ask before I book the trip
1. What are the crowds like during this time? I know that Mickeys fireworks are on during the week we are there but does that affect crowds during the day or just at nighttime when the fireworks are on?
2. We are planning on staying in the Newport Bay Club, because the pool will be open during our stay which is important for us to have something to do at times we will not be in the park. What is this hotel like?
3. We will buy the half-board dining plan, where are the best places to eat for breakfast and dinner?
Many Thanks

Have a nice trip.

I dont know about hotel Newport bay, never been there before but it looks lovely.
The crowds should be relatively quiet. But again never been at that time so I Don't know for sure.

If you have a meal plan you can only have breakfast at you're hotel or (if you pay a little bit extra) in the park with characters.

There are a lot of nice restaurants in dlp but which one to choose al depends on what you like and what type of meal plan you got. SInce you are staying in new port bay I am guessing you got the plus meal plan.  You could eat at lovely buffet in your hotel (cape cod) or if you want a really fancy meal you could eat at the yacht club in you're hotel. In the park I can recommend the blue lagoon (in pirates) or chez remy (next to rattatouile) for the great theming. If you have kids who are pickey eaters I can recommend annets in disney village (a 50s burger restaurant) or la Grange in Billy bobs also in the village (a tex mex buffet). At www.dlpguide.com you can see al restaurant menu's and a guide about meal plans (under planning)

Strangely enough these are the exact dates I am considering for our next trip, at the Newport Bay.

As you can see from my signature, I have been twice during the bonfire week and I find it a good time to go. The parks are pretty quiet, no really long queues but still enough people to create an atmosphere. I have never been in June but I bet November feels empty compared to Summer. The fireworks are held over Lake Disney and outside Sequoia Lodge is a good place to stand, or anywhere along that side of the lake.

I also like this week because Dreams is still on, instead of Dreams of Christmas. I know it's a shame to just miss all the Christmas decorations and other things, but I didn't like Dreams of Christmas and prefer "normal" Dreams.

Last time I was at Newport was a few years ago. It was fine, and now looks nicer than it used to be following the refurbishment, so I'm keen to give it a try again. The other option is Sequoia which is nice and cosy during a winter trip, and it all depends on price/availability. I would say to shop around because I've seen some sites offering one night free for these dates and others offering two nights free, which makes a big difference.

To prevent any confusion...
Dreams Will not be on in November 2017. From 26th of March 2017 a new nighttime show called illuminations will replace dreams. It will be a simular show with projections on the castle fountains and fireworks but with other scenes.

Very true and I forgot Dreams was changing next year...which is another reason I want to go as I hope Illuminations will be as good, if not better. But yes, sort of makes my point about Dreams/Christmas Dreams irrelevant.
