With the two Disney Parks open 365 days a year, essential maintenance and upkeep has to happen during scheduled attraction closures throughout the season, published a few months in advance.

Plan in advance using the list at the link below and make sure you don't miss your favourite!

The Big Thunder Mountain rehab has been resheduled from 17/08 to 14/10.

Post by: Anthony on March 15, 2006, 06:03:27 PM
At first that shocked me, but I guess it makes sense.  They'll want BTM to be open for the busy part of the Halloween festival, and now that they'll have the Keelboats and Riverboat (as well as the extra capacity from Buzz) they don't have to be too worried about closing it during August.

BTM is the ride most in-need of a refurbishment anyway, so it's all good.

Maybe it will be open only during the afternoons are something like that.  That was rumoured a long time ago.  :?:

A friend CM has been told that the castle will be covered in scaffolding somehwere this year for an extensive repaint and rehab!

(yay  :D )
Title:
Post by: Anthony on March 18, 2006, 03:22:12 PM
LOL, if that happens during the Big Thunder refurb, can you imagine the amount of complaints at City Hall??!  :?

Great news anyway, from a distance it still looks as beautiful as ever, but the cracks are beginning to show.  I'm glad they're doing it now rather than leaving it even longer (which is what would have happened a few years ago).
Title:
Post by: Anthony on March 19, 2006, 01:09:14 AM
I just thought - maybe the Castle refurb will be in October.  This way, they won't have BTM and the Castle covered up at the same time (for too long), and they'll be able to cover up the castle works by saying the "pumpkinmen have attacked it!" or something.

Basically, if they don't do the refurb before November, then they're going to have to do it in January 2007 - they can't have Christmas without the castle!

Or perhaps in September? Just after the Summer Season and before the busy Halloween Season.
Title:

Yeah, that could work actually.  I was just imagining the horror for some guests if they turned up to find BTM closed and the castle covered in scaffolding...

I wonder how long they'll need? :?

Indeed, just like the bridge in front of the castle. I've had a picture of the bad shape of the bridge somewhere, but I can't find it anymore. Believe me, its really bad.

The latest official closure dates show two new closures and alteration:

Moteurs... Action!
6th to 18th June 2006

Pirates' Beach
29th May to 9th June 2006

Big Thunder Mountain
21st August to 6th October 2006

Hopefully they're repainting and repairing the stunt show sets.

Do you know whether the park entry will be cheaper in September? I won't go there this year but I would definitely not pay the same price while BTM is closed ;)

When will the closure dates of next year be released? In February/March?

The refurbed POTC reopened this week.  Lots of work was done to bring the ride back to its original glamour:

- Additional light was added to the Caribbean Esplanade (the outside queue line)
- All costumes were replaced by identical new ones
- The treasure with squid and crab received additional lighting
- The swinging Pirate has returned
- The canonball splashing effect is back
- Smoke is back at the second drop
- Water has been replaced

I hope that all these (great!) rehabs are only planned to prepare the 15th-Birthday-Party.
Title:
Post by: Kristof on June 21, 2006, 05:31:05 PM
I don't think there will be a lot of rehabs next year, probably just the ones they have to do annualy (for the safety of the guests).

Well, the parks are usually "rehab-free" when they are expecting high attendance. So if you can deal with crowds, all the attractions you like might be open.

Space Mountain has to close at least 2 times for a check-up. And RNRC closes at least once a month (normally, what is said by a CM) for a technical check-up.  but that is not really a refurb ;-)

Dates up to June 2007: http://www.dlrpmagic.com/guides/resort/ ... dclosures/ (http://www.dlrpmagic.com/guides/resort/practical/scheduledclosures/)

Aside from the much-moaned-about Big Thunder closure, there's going to be lots of 2-week closures of the main attractions, plus *finally* the start of Molly Brown's long refurbishment (early September to late April!!). There's so much working being done that they're even refurbishing Liberty Arcade and the statue of liberty tableaux!! Oh, and the Studios have some closures this time aswell - aswell as a strange 3-week Tram Tour closure in November, there will be a 3-week Flying Carpets closure in March, probably so that they can do some major improvements in that area ready for the Toon Studio changeover.

Quote from: "Baloo"*finally* the start of Molly Brown's long refurbishment (early September to late April!!).

Thats great news. I thought that Molly Brown was damaged so much that it could never ever cruise over the Rivers of the Far West again. I'm glad to hear that's not true. It seems like next summer, during the 15th, Frontierland will shine again after years of neglect. Two refurbished riverboats, a Big Thunder Mountain as new... and ofcourse all other rehabs of the restaurants and other buildings...

Yeah, those rumours have died a slow death, and I guess this confirms it.

I suppose with three new WDS attractions, a new parade and more, they don't really need to play the "pirates" card yet.  They should keep it for another round, or maybe not play it at all, just keep the attraction original and market it that way.  I suppose if they need a fairly cheap new attraction to market for 2008/09/10 then it'd be an obvious choice...

Were going im September too so hopefully everything will be open ( fingers crossed ) BTM was closed for about 3 months last year if I remember rightly for a major overhaul, so it looks promising that everything will be fine for 2007, with no major closures. when are you goin we are going 16th to 20th and staying in the cheyenne.

We're going from the 3rd till the 6th september. I asked on the reservation hotline if any attractions will be closed. And she told me that all the popular attractions will be open. just Pocahontas Indian Village and Critter Coral are closed.

Critter Corral has been closed for a few years now, it's just sitting there empty.  I don't know why.  I guess the animals moved to Davy Crockett Ranch.
Title:
Post by: Nala_84 on March 16, 2007, 01:38:30 PM
Really? I didn't recognize that :D!

On our last visit in October 2005 we also were in Critter Corral, but there were only a few animals, a few sheeps, chicken and a turkey.

Were there more animals before? I've got a picture of 1992 on which I'm sitting there touching a little pig ;) (I was 8 years old)

DD's plan-She's going to learn better French than me (but that wouldnt take much with my Essex accent! :P ) and go and work in DLRP opening up Critter Corral as she wants to train as a vet! Then she'd get to work with animals and be in DLRP! Heaven!  :mickey2:

M'be she could employ her poor old Mum as an assistant LOL

On the DLP site it says that BTM is closed from January 2008 until November 2008. Did I read that right? I thought it was going to be closed December 10th to the 15th in 2007?

Does anyone know?

(I'll be there from 18th December until 22nd so not too worried about it.)
Thought that January to November sounded a bit extreme though!

What page did you see this on, got a URL? :? I've just looked on the French calendar, and it is saying Big Thunder Mountain 7th to 18th January, rather than 10th to 14th December as we originally heard.  IASW is apparently now 21st Jan to 1st February, rather than 28th to 8th....

It'd be a full time job trying to keeping track of all this...

I can at least assure you Jan-Nov is absolutely not true anyway.

I'm sure it must be a mistake though

 No, no, no. It can't be possible! BTM closed from 7th to 18th January and I will be there between the 7th and 11th. Woe is me! Ah well, I will just have to go on POTC twice a day instead of only once but I still wish they would revert to the December closure dates as originally scheduled.

We'll be going from December 30 to January 4. I was specially thinking of Autopia, Casey Junior and Storybookland (even though it's not called Storybookland   ). I have never really experienced that those attractions were opened during winter time.

Hi Flounder,

We'll be there from the 1st to the 5th Jan and according to the calendar on the main dlrp website nothing is closed - so you should get chance to go on the rides you want in fantasyland this time.

Casey Junior and Autotopia are particular faves of both my children :-)

Have a great time ! :-)

Does anybody know how often the hotel pools are closed in a year? Originally I had plans to stay in Newport Bay Club in July but due to private reasons it seems to be September now. Will the Newport Bay Club Pool be open in September? Especially the area outside. And does anybody already know if there are any attractions closed?

Attractions won't be for a few months, but pool closures are here: http://www.dlrpmagic.com/calendar/closu ... bishments/ (http://www.dlrpmagic.com/calendar/closures-refurbishments/)

The outside area will only be open according to weather.

We are going 4th - 8th February, so I was really worried to see the Space Mountain closure from 5th - 7th on the refurbishment list (//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/calendar/closures-refurbishments/).

SM2 being the only thrill ride opened during the Extra Magic Hours I called the park and asked if there will be a replacement. The nice lady didn't know about that closure, so she phoned her manager and after that she even phoned the Space Mountain staff to be sure. She assured me that SM2 will NOT be closed in that week.

In fact NO attraction is scheduled for closure in that time period ("It's a small world" will be closed on the 1st Feb only).

The scheduled closure of Space Mountain: Mission 2 from 20th to 22nd May has been removed (!) from the official DLRP site. Anyone knows if this has happened on purpose or if this is an error?

I have just come back from disney yesturday and just wanted to let you all know that are going, there is a manual labour strike in france at this present time, which had led to many rides opening later if at all, as the ride technicians are not there. One most effected is crush coaster. It only really seems to have effected studios rather that disneyland park.

I'm afraid it is unknown at the moment. The DLRP website hasn't updated their rehabs and closures page for quite a while now, and no closures are listed from this month onwards. Hopefully they will be released soon, because I want to know too.

Wow, they know the Closures for so many month? Great :)! I'm really happy that there won't be any closures except La Tanière du Dragon when we're there  :D/

Just another question: Those are only refurbishment dates, aren't they? I ask myself if it's still like that: I read some time ago that the attractions Storybookland, Casey Jr. and Autopia were seasonally closed during winter season. Is that true or could I expect to ride them in December (30th Nov. - 2nd Dec.)??

Usually, Casey Jr and Les payes des contes feyes shut late october/early november to set up the Christmas Village, they then close again once the Christmas season is over in mid-January.

Based on previous years you should be fine.

I cannot believe IASW is being refurbished on the day when I go to DLRP, Small World was one of the magical rides I went on back in 2001.

thats such a relief that nothing major is happening in December
apart from Honey I Shrunk The Audience won't be showing when I get there...but i think i manage this one year without it!!!

Are these three the only ones that are actually closed during December or will more be added?

You know where it says 'Tower of Terror - Alpha Shaft', does that mean the entire TOT ride is shut or just part of it? I'll be going from the 23rd of November to the 26th and Tower of Terror was the ride I wanted to go on so i'll be really disappointed if it's closed.

It's just the Alpha Shaft - the one on the left. The other two shafts will be open.

That shows the clever design of the Mark II Tower actually, they can refurb one shaft without having too much impact on the ride. At MGM it'd shut down half the attraction.

The dates from La Rouquine posted above are as accurate as you can get. He takes them from the internal DLRP schedule, hence all those part-closures that DLRP wouldn't publish for the public (eg. where it might also say "Mark Twain", that doesn't mean the Molly Brown won't be running instead).

It is bloody stupid that DLRP have only posted up until December on their website when they KNOW the future dates. They should post all the dates they're taking bookings for, it's not fair on people.

yeah I completely agree with you there Anthony!!
We all have specific rides that we all love and therefore if a longer schedule was made avaliable, people could plan around closures and refurbs! Having the system as it is today results in disappointment and anger!

Probably won't be another major update until August/September though, looking at past years.

Our favorite attractions are Buzz lightyear and Space Mountain.

Does anyone know if there is scheduled maintenance in this periode on those attractions?

Anyone know which weekend is best?

It's impossible to say for sure, but I'd guess both Space Mountain and Buzz will be open during those times. Space Mountain tends to have it's refurbs in December, and Buzz has already had a refurb this year, it probably won't need another. Out of the two dates I'd chose the later one since Big Thunder Mountain tends to have refurbs in late October/early November.

It could all change though. If I were you, I'd wait until around September time when the next set of refurb dates should be anounced.

FYI: The dates of rehabs and closures (//http://parks.disneylandparis.co.uk/rehabs-and-closures.xhtml?) have been updated on disneylandparis.com.

I am looking forward the most to the 12 day rehab for the dragon in December:

La Tanière du Dragon
Closed in December 2009 from 7th December to 18th December

Considering the dreadful state he was in during our last visit (in June) I hope they give him the great overhaul he deserves and desperately needs. Also, wouldn't it be great to have that fog on the water again?

Also going in March, gutted about Snow White, Casey Jnr, Pirates, Tram Tour, Cinemagique - so many we missed last time and had hoped to get this time (and DD's fave is Casey Jnr!) - what a shame, particularly as March has their St David's and St Patrick's parades/fireworks etc

No, they usualy announce them 1-2 months in advance.

This is also one of the reasons why I mostly only visit during high season (summer, halloween or christmas), because then you have the most chance that all the rides are open. Going during low season is cheaper yes, but the entertainment is less and lots of stuff gets a gefurb.

Some changes and new dates at the official site (//http://parks.disneylandparis.co.uk/rehabs-and-closures.xhtml)! Among the changes, Snow White will be open during Feb-Mar and Cinemagique will only close March 15th to 17th.

No news regarding the castle bridge, though...  :(

Big Thunder Mountain will be closed from April 26th till May 7th. I was planning to go that week, but I will change my plans to the weekend, so I can enjoy BTM for 2 days of my stay. No BTM (and no Pirates for that matter) is a totally no-go for me. Luckily I'm flexible with my work, so I can adapt to the refub schedule.

I read that Snow White and Cinemagique will be open during our stay on the 12th of march, nice! That MMP will last a little longer doesn't please me, but it will be nice for my nieces with Minnie's Party Express and Mickey's Magical Party Time.

Have you heard about the New Generation Festival (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7601)? That replaces MMP from 2nd April 2010.

Maybe It's Party Time on Central Plaza could stay on up to 30th March, rather than there being three weeks of no shows on Central Plaza, that does seems possible... but from 2nd April it becomes Disney Showtime Spectacular.

I see that Playhouse Disney Live On Stage is closed according to the current timetable.

Does anyone know if it will be open next week?  We arrive on Sunday and depart Wednesday.  We were hoping to see Playhouse on Thes or Weds.

Our kids have seen the show 4 times and love it!

The latest Disneyland Web Offer states "last chance to see Mickey's Magic Party" with dates arriving as late as April 1st.

Looks like MMP is going all the way up to the start of NGF.

I just hope they get the Castle Bridge fixed by the time I get there on March 22nd  [-o<

BAD NEWS MARCH HARES!!

Mickey's Magic Party is officially over!

//http://news.disneylandparis.co.uk/UK/EN/Neutral/Images/ShowsAndParades.pdf

The Shows and Parade programme has just been upated for 8th March - 19th March and MMP is no-where to be found.

* No Its Party Time
* No Minnie's Party Train

The main attractions in the Disneyland Park are apparently:
* African Tan Tams
and
* Once Upon A Dream Parade

At least the tacky decorations will have been taken down

WOW!
I am arriving on May 30th, Sun and leaving on June 5th Sat. Space Mountain is closed from May 31 to june 4. So i only have my first and last days to ride it!!! That's probably good news for me. I guess that many will not go to DLP during this week because of the closure of Space Mountain...so less people-more fun for me! (don;t take it wrong, everybody would like a day alone at DLP!!!)
The only thing i am sad for is that 3 kids' attractions will be closed for my holidays (Le Pays des Contes de Fees, Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Casey Jr. Le Petit Train du Cirque) and we are going with 3 kids :(
Anyway, i am so excited that the days are coming, i have booked since November!

hi i'd read the castle was going to be refurbed over halloween and xmas on here. I emailed the park and they replied with
QuoteThank you for your email.

I kindly inform you that for the moment, we are only aware of refurbishments up to September and therefore have no information concerning Christmas. However it does seem unlikely the Castle will be in refurbishment at such a time, especially as the bridge has been recently refurbished. As we receive refurbishment lists around 3 months before, please recontact us in 3 months to check on this matter.

Kindest regards,

I shared this on another board but thought id put it on here for anyone else who'd read it was being refurbed
so happy, this email is good enough for me  =D>

I think the two Disney Parks open 365 days a year, essential maintenance and upkeep has to happen during scheduled attraction closures throughout the season, published a few months in advance. :D  :D

thats right, with the park not having any days of closure through the year they have to either do small bits of maintenance over night or close attractions down to carry out what needs to be done =] and to help with bookings etc. they publish their closures early so people have at least some idea of what will be closed while they are there =] of course some rides can also be closed un announced due to faults....

makes me wonder just how big their risk assessment forms are on a day to day basis... lols XD

I am not sure but I think that during Christmas season they will stop all refurbs and closures to have as many attractions open as they can. Christmas is traditionally one of the most busy times of the year for DLRP

Been there with christmas my self quite a few times and on the official christmas days and between those and newyears my experience is it is always busy those days (140 minute que for Peterpan, extended que for Alice and Tea cups, (70 min wait for Indiana Jones) Early Januari how ever it is way more quite.

I heard that they are planning to start refurb of the castle halfway Januari.

I just phoned Disney to check that there were no attractions closed during our stay (there are none listed as closed online)
The CM told me that Pinocchio, Snow White, Autopia and Casey Junior (no surprises on that last one) are all closed from 8th-10th november.
So obviously Disney do not always publish closures online, if you are concerned about closures during your stay it might be wise to phone and check since it seems that they do have the information.

Those attractions are vulnerable to frost and things to do with Winter, so they are usually closed yes. I suppose if there were more maintenance workers available they could open themm... but it's probably H&S

That is a very good question.

It is very odd that they have that Casey Jr/etc closed in Jan until the 21st, because no doubt they wont open after then. This happened last year, which did annoy me.

Its not so bad when nothing is mentioned about them being closed, because its winter so I expect it, but when they actually give a specific date saying its CLOSED UNTIL XXXX, so you then get ready for it to reopen after then, yet it remains closed. Its stupid really and is surely them shooting themselves in the foot?

Oh, and Festival Disney, you forgot to add Animagique to that list, its close in Jan until 21st (Like some other things....grrr)

Just called the Central Reservations Office about infos for a (possible) stay from 30.3.-2.4. and I got these closure info for March 2011:

- Pirates of the Caribbean 7.-31.3.2011
- Crush's Coaster 30.+31.3.2011
- River Rogue Keelboats 30.+31.3.2011

For Crush and the Keelboats she did not tell me when the refurb actually starts, only that they will be closed during these two days of our stay, so they could be closed earlier in March already! For April they don't have any info yet, so she could not tell me when these attractions will be open again.

I've posted elsewhere as well, but does anyone know about Playouse Disney Live?  The latest show and parade schedule says Closed from 31/01.  Others say closed until dd/mm so am thinking this might of gone completely?  We missed it by a few weeks opening last time and now possibly missed it by just a week closing!!

Oh no!

That's really annoying, on the main Disney calendar which shows what attractions are closed, it doesn't mention that. I can see, though, when you click in to the parades and shows, it says closed from 30 Jan.  I'd counted on this attraction, as so many others that we wanted to do are shut.

:-(

Oh well, hopefully it will be open one day we are there!

though it doesn't say Slinky ride is closed but that was on the calendar before.

hmm, maybe I should read all of this through before posting anymore!

I wish for once they'd announce these dates in good time and stick to them. The schedule has almost completely changed again, with for example Slinky moved to February and Crush's Coaster suddenly appearing at the end of March.

Dates for April have completely disappeared...

Edit: Just for the record, they briefly said:

4th to 8th
Les Voyages de Pinocchio
4th to 30th

Pirates is closed until the 1st of April, not the 4th (I hope!?). We are staying from the 30.3. to the 2.4. and Pirates being closed 3 of our 4 days was a HUGE disappointment, but at least I could look forward to riding a fully refurbished Pirates on our very last day. Finally, I have been checking every day to see if the list had been posted. We go 17th till 20th July so I'm really hoping not too much will be closed.

Any one going within the next week be aware that there are more closures than what is listed- Indiana Jones is still fenced up, with nothing but a poor hot cast member in a pirate hat to tell everyone that it's still closed, one person at a time.
SM:M2 and BTM were shutting all over the place while we were there, seeming to get techinical difficulties every time we got a fast pass for them. TOT was shut for a little while yesterday aswell, and loads of other rides had tech issues too.
Interestingly though, the last few days we saw Casey Jnr, the storybook boats and even pizza planet open for the first time i've seen in years.

October and November closures list is here: http://www.dlrpmagic.com/calendar/closu ... bishments/ (http://www.dlrpmagic.com/calendar/closures-refurbishments/%22%20onclick=%22window.open(this.href);return%20false;)" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Those dates are exactly as listed by the official travel partners website (last updated 30th August) with two closures I missed off for now because, to be honest, I don't believe them! Disneyland Railroad until 30th November (the whole railroad, for three months?! I must have missed that news) and CinéMagique closed 5th to 30th September, which but it seems like a long closure and of course isn't listed on the existing September list on the official site. I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow for that one.

I'm also surprised at Flying Carpets closed 1st October to 30th November, unless they're doing a major Orbitron-style take-it-apart-and-put-it-back-together refurb...

Anyway, hope that's helpful!

three months without the railroad would be insane, flying carpets is one of the most popular attractions at wds for kids, and closing it for halloween seems a bit odd, and the fact that its gone for 2 full months could mean that it'll be closed into december as well.

very interesting...

that list does seem a bit unlikely doesn't it? Looking at the official UK site there are no details for Oct on there. And the list has Alice and Carousel both closed throughout Oct which along with Casey and StoryBook boats would make a large dent in Fantasylands capacity during Halloween.

Wow, that's pretty useless DLP couldn't include the CinéMagique closure in the public list.

And now we know that closures for October and November are being published for travel companies/partners, I have to ask why they're not being published on the official website.

Absolutely gutted that my 2 favourites are gonna be closed when im there. . . Whats Disneyland without Indiana and Phantom Manor???? Indiana is always my " go-to" ride during the day , , like I cant walk between Frontier Land and Fantasyland without " a quick loop on Indy!" Although I remember one year Big Thunder was closed , we didnt know what to do with ourselves every evening! And I was planning on doing Cinemagique for the first time this visit too . . :(      Oh well ,still ridiculously excited!

I'm a bit confused over here. The Closures say that Le Carrousel de Lancelot will be closed from the 3rd to 28th of October but the Disney website says it will be open for mnsshp does that mean it will only be open for the nights or just that they haven't updated their system?!

I have just checked Disney's website and here is their list.

La Cabane des Robinson
    Closed all the month.

Indiana Jones™ et le Temple du Péril
Closed from 1st October to 14th October.

Casey Jr. - Le Petit Train du Cirque
Closed from 3rd October to 21st October.

Le Pays des Contes de Fées
Closed from 3rd October to 21st October.

Rock'n' Roller Coaster
Closed from 3rd October to 7th October.

Armageddon: les Effets Spéciaux
Closed from 17th October to 21st October.

No mention of the carousel, railroad or carpets being closed.  Hope it stays this way.

Just seen the December closures, and it almost looks as if some are closed for the purpose of saving money.

Autopia is closed often, that's got to save a lot of money.

Could this mean that they are saving for the 20th celebrations?

I don't understand why It's a Small World is shut in November at the beginning of the Christmas Season when it's so well known for it's Christmas overlay?? I am very upset, this is our first Christmas and I was really looking forward it

I totally agree Mrs Pirate, I couldn't believe it when I saw it, can't help feeling our trip now is just not going to be the same without IASW and th Christmas costumes, I would have thought it would have been closed before 7th November in order to get it ready for the Christmas season, can't help feeling that with some ride closures there are other motives!!!!!!

I'm absolutely furious. I'm going in several weeks and had I known how many things would actually be shut, I most likely wouldn't have booked to go at all. This is supposed to be a Disney park and although I understand it needs to be maintained, a great many attractions are shut for a substantial period of time. I don't feel this is good enough.

They just keep on changing the dates everytime! It sucks that a lot of non-thrillrides (like Autopia, Casey Jr. and Le Pays des Contes de Fées) are closed during our visit, since my mom isn't able to ride any thrill rides.

I'm getting quite annoyed with the closures during our visit, IASW is closed, Casey Jr and Le Pays des Contes de Fees, Autopia, Flying Carpets and Art of Disney are only open on our first day. Hopefully BTM will re-open for our last 2 days.

Hi

It's quite possible that Animagique was originally planned to be closed on those dates (in which case it was published to agents, websites, etc.) but they changed their schedule.

Unless I'm mistaken (which is certainly possible LOL) the DLP website should be the correct one, so enjoy the show!

Pretty low, I hope! I'm going then too, and (touch wood/fingers crossed) they shouldn't have much going on in the way of major refurbs I'd have thought, because of it being the 20th anniversary. it really depends on just how big the last batch of maintenance was, some rides close down at around the same time every year without fail (take for example its a small world, it closes down around the same time every year so they can put on/take off the christmas overlay) for others its just as and when the ride needs it

Gutted! - I really don't know how they can close it in June, it was so busy last year when we went that time!! - Anyways, it does look like they will open it by the time I get there, but I would love to know if those dates are set in stone, because our boy would be so upset if it was closed, its his favorite ride and he can't ride much else.

October opening hours and refurbishments are on-line today for October.

A bit sad IASW is closed during our visit, it's one of the kids favourites and it's the 2nd time in 3 years it's been closed, but it would have been so much worse if it had been POTC or PM.

Just found out that Phantom Manor, one of my 'must do' fave rides, is closed from the day after we arrive.
Our package doesnt include park tix for the day of arrival, and I wasnt going to buy extra ones but I definately will now as I just can't miss out on doing PM!
This means I will pay approx £150 for 3 tix for just a few hours in the Parks, but I figure it's essential.

I sympathise. BTM was closed for all but the first day of our last trip and it is the absolute favourite ride of my whole family! I have been praying to the Disney gods since May that it is open for our trip in October.

That is a long closure for IASW - wonder what they are doing in there? Plus wont they have to close it again a few weeks later for the xmas overlay :?:

I'm kind of hoping that they'll do the Christmas overlay when they close it in October, so we get to see it on our last day... The Christmas season starts less than a month later!!

Hi
Can anyone confirm which closure schedule is correct / most up to date? The one on the official website still  doesn't mention that Disney Junior Live is closed, but the one on here still has it closed with an asterix. I'm keeping everything crossed that it will be open next month, but I'm not hopeful  :(

There is an rumor about that in France but no official announcement...

Most likely this is coming from whats happening in America. Disneyland California are closing Captain EO permanently  in the next few days. This is due to the new Star Wars deal Disney did with Lucas Films a few months ago. Tomorrowland land is getting a whole new look, Star Tours is being updated and the Captain EO theatre will get a new resident.

The Michael Jackson fan community has known for a while that Captain EO in America would be closing sometime soon. When I was in Disneyland California this summer they had stopped selling Captain EO merchandise. Then around 6 August on micechat.com this appeared

The first phase is planned to get underway this winter with the closing of Captain EO and major "placemaking" work on the existing buildings that mostly date from 1967. The 15 months of work would wrap up by early spring 2015 in time for the 60th, and leave a new Star Wars 3D movie in the old Captain EO theater, new destinations programmed into Star Tours based on the seventh Star Wars movie to be released in summer 2015, and a freshened aesthetic to the buildings surrounding Space Mountain. Once the 60th Anniversary begins to wind down, the real work begins on plans to build a Star Wars speeder bike coaster on the old PeopleMover tracks, plus more Star Wars eye candy and freshened facilities throughout the land. then heard from a castmember in Disneyland California that Captain EO would be closing in September.
This was tweeted by @TouringPlans on 26 August

Captain EO closes in 17 days for refurbishment. Cast members I talked to working the attraction say it won't return at all
People are probably confusing whats happening in America and thinking its going to happen in DLP. As we all know many of the updates and changes which happen in America don't happen in DLP, the one that comes to mind is how Pirates in America gets updated with Captain Jack and mermaids etc, while DLP doesn't.

Also the closures and refurb calendar for October, November, December has been released. Captain EO is closed every week on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays up until 21 December, and during Christmas New Years peak time it is not closed at all.

The official word is that Captain EO will be permanently retired from DLP in February 2014.

It has had a good second run returning to the park but seems like the interest and numbers for it have been steadily declining so looks like it is going away now. So if you want to see it one last time then get to the park before February next year.

They've been out on disneylandparis.co.uk for a couple of weeks, it's just that nobody's got around to updating any of the fan sites with the new dates. The closure's for March 2014 are as follows:

Captain EO:
1st to 31st

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril:
1st to 31st

Armageddon : les Effets Spéciaux:
17th to 19th, 24th to 26th, 31st

Crush's Coaster:
17th to 31st

Studio Tram Tour : Behind the Magic:
19th to 21st, 26th to 28th

I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed about the closure of Crush's Coaster - we're there from 1st to 5th April, and I'm guessing it will still be closed that week if it hasn't opened by Monday 31st March, which is a pity as it is the favourite ride of both my wife and son (and I rather like it too).

We are going 25th-29th May and the info for our days has come out this week. Our scheduled closures are -

Indiana Jones™ and the Temple of Peril
Armageddon : les Effets Spéciaux
Captain EO
Dumbo the Flying Elephant
Flying Carpets Over Agrabah®

They are the same every day except for Indiana Jones opening on our last day, so if we focus on that we will be able to fit it in before we leave.  Not pleased about Armageddon though, its scheduled to be closed right the way through from 17th March, thought that it would have been open by the time we arrived.  Why do they have to be closed for soooo long :(  .

Not 100% sure, it depends also on the kind of child. It's with 3D glasses, it's not so long, there are funny creatures, but all this old format ..... I don't know.

that depends on the child. There are 3D effects right from the start, so it would depend on whether your child gets scared by things coming out of the screen.

There is a story to it, which your 4 year old might not understand, Captain EO (Michael Jackson) pilots a ship, with muppet type companions. The ship crashes, they get captured, there is a song and dance middle and end section.

The only scary part might be the Supreme Leader character, who is like the typical Disney evil Queen. She is a spider type character.

There is music and dancing through out and there should be some 4D effects, like air blowing when a character sneezes and the seats bouncing  with the music.

Our trip is from 30th of Nov - 4th Dec. Just outside of the dates captured on the latest Closures & Refurbs. :o
Used to go every year & as such that mitigated against major disappointments (slightly).
But this year is the 1st time we have been since 2011, and wont be going back for another few years...
I hope nothings closed. Altho no one is ever that jammy ;)
Rant over. sorry! :) :-[

Just noticed the Pirates closure has been extended this month, was set to reopen on 13th September but is now opening on 18th! Big blow to be landing on at the last minute. Are extensions like this common? This now cuts into our trip and I'm hoping it doesn't extend more.

Refurbishment schedules are subject to change at any time, so an attraction might open earlier than planned or have its refurb extended.

I'm going on September 14th, coming home on the 18th.  According to the DLP calendar thingy POTC is open on the 14th, then closed on the 15th, 16th and 17th, then open on the 18th.   If it is open on the 14th, it'll be the first ride I go on!  And it will also be the first ride I go on, on the 18th!  (Apart from EMH stuff).

Confused about closures :-\

When we booked  in August I checked the closures for the 3rd and 4th November, they were PM, mad hatters tea cups and buzz's blast, I remember this as I was upset as PH is my fav ride. So in hope I checked the official web site last week for an update to my surprise none of the above were on the list for that date and in place was the closure of Big thunder mountain , my son actualy cried when I told him this was shut  :( . So thought I would just check today and there is nothing listed !!!!. we go in less than three weeks and it would be nice to know what is really closed . Anyone got a clue ?

Ok rant over thank you :)

Apparently they changed the refurbishment schedule because it was meant to be closed in December at the time of our visit. I remember this because I was very disappointed originally.

Sorry for your son.

The refurbishment schedule is subject to change at any time, so it's good to always check the official site before your trip. Unfortunately, during your visit BTM is closed along with Crush's Coaster, Mad Hatter's Tea Cups and Captain EO. Sorry for the disappointed this may cause!

By the way, I don't know why closures aren't available on the english site, perhaps because of a glitch or something.

Is it possible they'd close it right from the beginning of the month, New Years day? I'm thinking at least after Jan. 8th. Is anyone aware of a more specific date? Also POTC says "early January". I don't see this is a conflict. Jan 9th IS "early January" . The detailed plan for January says to the 31st, then the rest of the closure time will be covered in the entries for February and so on, which are not confirmed yet.

Given the changes to be done, you can work out that once shut, it's going to be shut for months rather than weeks.

Hi all!

Hope you are all doing well.

I am planning to visit DLP for the 25th anniversary from the 24th of April until the 30th of April, though my only issue that im not understanding is that its saying Hyper Space mountain and studio tram tour are marked under rehab until april 2017. Does this mean that they won t be open even until the end of april? The thing is I wanna experience the 25th anniversary including these major new updates of the rides. Its very strange if they are n t open until then as it would have been already 1 month since the 25th anniversary launch.

Would be really grateful if someone could advise more about this.

Thanks :)

I just called in DLP and they informed me that is the current plan, but since I will be booking during the last week of april, there is a high chance that both hyper space mountain and tram tour will be open by then according to them.  :D (POTC is not such an issue tbh as I know it will be closed until september.) its more those 2 rides which im more conscious about...so i'm gonna take the risk and hope i get lucky! Surely PotC isn't closed UNTIL September. It's in the list of April-Sept closures but it says 'until summer', I thought it reopened in July. Hopefully at the start because I was looking to go during the second week!

Hi

I'm new to the forum and was looking for information about Pirates of the Caribbean as I have just booked my first trip for myself and my son 31st July - 4th August and I was told pirates will be closed during that week.

I saw somewhere that it would be closed 'until summer' and somewhere else that it would be closed 'until July' so I was hoping for news that it would be open by the first week of August but if people are being told September then I guess we wont be getting to experience it after all.

Hi all.

So I think I understand that POTC is closed for the majority of the year. I'm looking at coming 16th of April for a week.

Will the Tram ride be open? Is it too early for definitive information regarding this? Is it a case of "should be, but we don't promise - just in case"?

BTM will also be closed, I understand that.

My kids love small world, I'm hoping Utopia is open - but again, I'm not sure and I've read conflicting things.

Any clarification would be much appreciated oh wise ones.

We booked yesterday to visit in October 2017 & whilst we was booking we was advised that Pirates is closed during our visit  :'(

Hopefully it's because we took advantage of the Summer booking offer of 2 days & 2 nights free & that's part of the standard script because of the offer as we've also seen on numerous websites that it only states closed until Summer 2017

Wow I'm pretty sure it won't still be closed in October. I may not have been to DLP yet but it's only modifications they're doing so I can't believe it will take that long, not unless they were making substantial changes to the ride layout.

I'm guessing they just don't have a firm end date to the works they are doing.

I have booked for the last week in April. We knew that Pirates was going to be closed but it now seems Space Mountain (or Hyperspace Mountain as it's going to be known for a bit) will be closed until the week after we leave.

Any chance there will be some soft openings the week before? I'll be gutted if we miss Pirates & Space Mountain on the same trip. I don't think having two attractions like those two, with such high throughputs, closed is going to do a lot for queue times either.

Or is the idea of a soft opening on a ride that is just getting a new overlay a bit of wishful thinking on my part?
