Title: What happend to Moteurs Action ?
Post by: Farbauti on June 20, 2013, 06:45:18 PM
Hello there,

I'm just back from a 3 full days trip to DLP.
It was great in general but I found Moteurs Action somewhat disappointing:
Not a single car jump, no thug falling from the rooftop.

Is there a reason for this cuts?

I can only assume that the cuts are down to finances. I was there a few weeks ago and the show was as you described, a very poor shadow of its former self! The thug has not fallen from the roof for a couple of years now, but to take all the car jumps out of the show reduces the quality and excitement a lot. I for one, will not bother with the show again until I read on here that it has returned to something like it's former self!

I remeber the falling guy in Sep'2011.
I first saw the show (2002?) when even the jetski was actually part of the show. And a car was jumping over the water too, IIRC.

Yes, they cutted out a lot of it ans still seemed to get Cars into it. I understand why because to involve the kids and give it a disney stamp but still...

A lot of the action has been removed. One good thing that they did, was giving the stuntmen and women (don't know if they are in there) a shoutout and giving them a spot in the spotlight.

I miss herby by the way :(

I watched the show personally last in 2012 and all the stunts were still there (to my knowledge)

Upon our last visit 2 weeks ago, (I didn't watch the show) but due to bad weather a lot of stunts were pulled for safety reasons.

Bad weather can affect the show. Maybe this was the reason?

Having worked on it recently, the show hasn't officially changed since the Cars addition however bad weather plays a huge part in what stunts are able to take place, as does maintenance schedules because all parts of the sets are used a number of times daily so instead of having many no show days for maintenance, they tend to do work in bits, which means that certain safety measures might be out of action, due to maintenance, meaning that a particular stunt can't happen.

With the lack of shows taking place atm, Disney will do anything to keep any permanent show going, even if that means a lower quality show.

I can't blame a bad weather for the cuts. Here's a picture we took during the show.

I back up what Farbauti says! When I saw the show in late April there were no jumps involving cars  at all and whilst I accept maintenance is necessary, there are at least three different set ups for car jumping,
1. The ramps at the front of the stage, these were used by the motorcyclists but not the cars.
2. The set up of the lorry with the built in ramp along with the flat top lorry for the car to "bounce" off and land on the air cushion. This was all set up in the usual way, without air cushion, along with the display of flowers and veg, but all that this was used for was to hide Lightning McQueen from the public for its particularly lame display
3 The scene where the car erupts from out of the building under the large screen. Nothing here at all!
If these scenes were all dropped because of maintenance, the honest thing to do would be to close the show altogether, what I saw was a pathetic shadow of the shows I have seen in the past and a waste of 90 minutes of my life that I will never get back!

Oh dear! This sounds disappointing. We will have to decide whether or not it's worth spending precious time on this during our 3 days there. We totally loved the show in it's former 'life', and i'd hate to come away feeling that we shoulda gone and done something else instead.

We had 3 days too and did WDS in 3/4 day. That is 10am to 6pm, when the park closed anyway. We managed to see Cinemagic (can't get enough of this show), TOT, Studio tram tour, RNRC, Moteurs Action and even Crush's (during the parade wait time was down to 45min).
We skipped deliberatey Armageddon and Toy story land, Animagique and Alladdin.

We saw the show for the first time this May and really enjoyed it. We have avoided it in the past due to being worried our little girl would be upset by the man on fire.

The show was great and we cant wait to go back next year. We where a little shocked that Lightening McQueen wasent in it, plus I found it more about the presenters than the stunts but after reading this, now it makes sence. Maybe next year it will be even better, fingers crossed  :D

I remember seeing herby once, when was he put in moteurs action and when was he taken out?

(and I totally think it's good they took Lightening McQueen out  =D>  )

Mmmm..  :-k

Well all the stunts involving car jumps were in when I went the end of March 2012..  :o

I do know that stunts are cut as previously mentioned due to weather conditions, and sometimes through other safety concerns on particular days..

Plus they have problems with equiptment, the show is old now (considering there are at least two shows a day) so things break and because the scenary and stunt elements of the show are maintained in the US, it takes forever to sort, plus money is always a problem... Like with the Gient air cushion, it had a puncture back in November and wasn't brought back in until after Easter because it took so long for the different parks to communicate and then for the problem to be actually sorted, unfortunately the CM's on the ground have nothing to do with this, its all in the offices....

I wondered the same thing last week, the big thing I really missed was the jet-ski.

The Cars "scene" was boring, lol.

I like Moteurs Action, a stunt show fits well into the film Studio theme of the park, but we skip it on some visits because it doesn't stay fresh for us like some of their other rides and attractions. We didn't see it last year so I can't comment on more recent cuts, but I do remember the jet-ski scene which was cut along time ago, they did make the show more spectacular.
It's the same with Armageddon, I really like the effects show and again it fits well into the Studios, but all that chat in French in the pre-show feels too long, so we don't always bother. I saw it once with an English speaking Cm and the pre-show was so much more enjoyable.

I say close this and use this space for FANTASMIC (world of colour style show)

If you removed the show you would be left with a massive hole to fill as I believe the capacity is 3000, where would all those pepole go to if there was no show? They would make the queues for rides like Crush even more unbearable!!
They could only show Fantasmic in the dark, so in the summer and with all DLRP financial woes I would think they could only afford one show so no Dreams?
Title: Re: What happend to Moteurs Action ?
Post by: ed-uk on July 13, 2013, 05:55:26 PM
Well I think Fantasmic and World of Colour are both out for the foreseeable future. The Studios could do with some nighttime entertainment but the park would have to close later. The park needs to expand with more rides and attraction first. And places to explore.

Just back from a weekend at DLP and still the same as mentioned above. This is a terrible move by Disney. My son used to love the stuntshow but was so dissapointed. He said this is no stunt show anymore.

Let us hope Disney will do something about this. But in the state as it is today, and if they can't improve it anymore, they should start thinking about removing it.

It's completely rubbish and not worth watching anymore.

The major things that I noticed last week;
The red car doesn't do a jump over the lorry on to the air cushin anymore,
The villain doesn't fall off the roof anymore,
The line of flame no longer works - they light the guy with a lighter  :?
Of course, the Jet Ski went ages ago...
And last week, the hero car didn't even jump accross the water at the final
The Lightning McQueen part is dire, too.

It's completely ridiculous when they show you the film at the end, showing all the stunts that either didn't happen or have been changed!!
I feel sorry for the stunt men. It must be so frustrating with all these cutbacks.

We just came back from DLPR. We saw the show for the first time and I actually didn't know about all these removed scenes. Now I understand your dissapointment. We saw some tricks on the screen and asked ourselfes if that was a programm for special cases or what.

Actually this is our first time at the Studios, previous years we stayed only in the park. I can say that there is a reason for that. You go to the studios once and then nothing special attracts you again (maybe a little bit Crush coaster and some of the other shows).

As of last week still no jump scenes at all, makes the reverse car scene and the finale a very strange experience.

On a side note, when did Opel drop sponsorship? All of the cars have had their badges covered over. (The video footage on the large screen hasn't blanked them out though)

If you take of Dedicated to DLP they have an article summarising eventDLP and I quote:
"Moteurs... Action! Stunt Show Spectacular will go back to normal in the coming months – some of the missing parts were due to technical difficulties that will be overcome soon"

The entire article can be read here: http://dedicatedtodlp.com/2013/09/27/huge-massive-refurbishments-coming-disneyland-paris/ (http://dedicatedtodlp.com/2013/09/27/huge-massive-refurbishments-coming-disneyland-paris/)

Fingers crossed this does come to fruition.

Joe Schott explained it had to do with safety, but the show will go back to normal in a few months time.  :)

I saw the show yesterday and wish I hadn't bothered. I already knew the jetski was long gone and the man falling off the building was gone but didn't expect the stripped down version we got.
None of the jumps that involved the truck! Not sure if we got all the other car jumps but there were some.
The trucks and market were all set up but not used for a jump, not even used to hide lightning mcQueen, they just showed a trailer.
The final jump was a motorbike instead of a car.

I know it has been said they would rather some show than  no show but still. We didn't even have the motorbike warm up tricks at the start.

With the tram tour and armageddon closed at the morning the studios are really lacking on back stage stuff.

No car jumps or falling thugs last week and the whole Cars bit was boring beyond belief. Really thought it lacked the action of the previous years we have seen it.

Thanks for the update. We are going next week. We were very disappointed with it last Feb, so hearing that nothing has got better since then, means we can miss it this time.

Just seen the show today. This used to be a highlight for me, but the show was a pale shadow.  The ballet base was great as was the motorbike bit. The rest was appalling. Give it a miss.

I agree with what others are saying, this is now a very average show. I can understand them needing to make cut backs, but they 'cut' everything that was good about the show. I actually found it dull.

When did they add the 'bumper' around all the buildings? Makes it look less like an actual movie set now.

I'm not interested in seeing this so would while it's on be a good time to do the most popular rides?

Believe it or not, the show has no impact on the queuing times for the other, more popular attractions.
When we were there a couple of weeks ago, my wife took my son into the stunt show while my daughter and I did a couple of rides.  We still queued 70 mins for Hollywood Tower!!
Oh, and yes, Lightning McQueen was still being used then.

Thanks for the response.  That's a shame - I was hoping to be able to do Hollywood Tower and Crush's Coaster while one of those performances was on.  I'll be there for 4 and a bit days though so will have plenty of time to do everything I want to do  :D
