Oh yes, Disney are back on track!

I don't like the name Meet The Robinsons, but the actual concept is very cool and it looks surprisingly well animated considering it's only their 2nd computer animated film.

Can anyone else imagine a "Meet the Robinsons" attraction replacing Honey, I Shrunk The Audience in a few years?

Here's something I didn't know - the Wikipedia page for the film is showing the music as being produced by... Danny Elfman!  :o  :D

Here's a nice look at some concepts and stills from the film: http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_hill/ ... /5574.aspx

I'm really excited about this project, and if it does well don't you think it'd be perfect for a Discoveryland attraction?  A way to introduce retro styles whilst still making it "involving" for the "youngsters" of today, with no hint of plastic in sight...

Edit: And infact, it'd be a perfect HISTA replacement:

1) It's about inventions
2) It's CGI, easy to make a 20min short film
3) The theme would allow lots of 3D/4D effects
4) It's more Discovery-ish than HISTA
5) It would also fit into the Tomorrowlands and Epcot well, meaning Disney could do it worldwide.
6) It's obviously a more modern film and more relevant to audiences
7) The "inventions" theme and the huge Robinsons family allows for lots of story and theme possibilities.
8 ) It doesn't really involve "space", which is good since too much in Discoveryland does these days

So yeah... I hope Imagineering are watching this closely.  "An Audience with Wilbur Robinson" would be very nice indeed.  And I've not even seen the film yet...

Meet The Robinsons poster and character visuals:

The poster looks STUNNING. :D I can't wait for this film, it's something very different for Feature Animation.

And also, more plot details:

SPOILERS!

Quote from: "ComingSoon.net"Lewis is an orphan with a genius I.Q. and a passion for inventing. His offbeat nature and unintentionally disastrous inventions keep him from obtaining the one thing he longs for the most – a family to call his own. He believes his only chance is to find his real mother, so he invents the Memory Scanner, a machine that will extract his only memory of her.

Wilbur Robinson is a mysterious stranger from the future whose biggest flaws – self-confidence, cocky attitude, and fast talking banter – are also his greatest assets. They enable Wilbur to stay one step ahead of his adversaries. Knowing that Lewis holds the key to the future, Wilbur whisks him away in his time machine where the two battle a ferocious dinosaur, mind-controlled frogs and evil villains all in an effort to save the world as Wilbur knows it.

Carl is the suave Robinson family robot, serving the family's every need with wit and charm. In addition, he has the unfortunate job of constantly getting Wilbur out of trouble. Carl also has a way with the ladies, and by ladies, we mean the dishwasher, the coffee maker, and the teapot.

Have you seen the HD trailer on Apple Trailers?  It also features the new Disney logo.  8)

A new trailer!!!! That Disney logo is still beautiful, and this film is looking superb.  Some very funny moments in the trailer and no Shrek-syndrome at all, brilliant. :D

I still reckon this will be a HISTA (and also partly Le Vis) replacement - "Have the time travel of your future" is a cooool slogan.

When I went to the cinema yesterday to watch Casino Royale, they showed the first advertisement for Meet the Robinsons. I think it's very early!

It was not a trailer. It was a really long and funny song from the frogs in the movie about turning off the cell phones and not eat the popcorn like a "pig". Only at the end they said: from the new disney animations movie: Meet the Robinsons.
It will run now before every movie I think and this is a rather good ad.
Movie Park Germany - Hooray I\'m in the movies!

That sounds interesting, thanks for the info! :)

I saw The Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D yesterday, and they show the MTR trailer that's on iTunes... but in 3D.  It looked a-m-a-z-i-n-g!

It's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory meets The Incredibles!  With Chicken Little/Shrek-style rock songs thrown in on top.

I expected something a bit more original from Danny Elfman... but it does seem to fit the film.  And it's very different to other Disney soundtracks, I suppose.

Depends what your expectations are! I saw it, and have to say its more in the line of Chicken Little than Classic Disney!

Personally I found it to be of TV standard in its story telling, and very dated in its look when you think about what Pixar are producing!

It didnt set the world alight for me. I would advise DVD. But hey, each to their own
