Disney rumoured to be making New Years Eve a ticket only event like Halloween. What do people think about this?

I personally will not be paying for it. It is costing me enough to go at New Year, if I knew this earlier I would probably not have booked up, I won't be in the future. Call me a skin flint but as a family of 4 who are all nearly paying adult prices now its costing a fair bit to go to DLP now. All these added extras are starting to push the cost up. If I could afford Disney prices I would go to Florida but I can't. When we went at new year previously I enjoyed it but charging for this it would need to be spectacular because it certainly isn't. We will be spending it in the hotel now, I think people make the celebration not all the fancy stuff.

I have read the rumor too.
I'm not sure what to think untill I see the programme and the ticket price.

We spent NYE at DLP last year and the parade was quite good, but the music was not my style (and quite crowded which, with a 5 year old and an 11 year old is quite the hassle not to lose them in the crowd) and the fireworks were invisible because of the fog. I would definitely not have paid any money for that.

Let's see some proposed entertainment and a price!

Read this on another site:
ticket prices: €29 for hotel guests, €41 for Infinity-holders, €44 for all other AP-holders, € 49 for all other guests.

The event will be in the Disneyland Park from 7pm till 1 am, and the Studios will be open for guests who do not have a ticket for the event.

Slimy yet satisfying

Nope. Not on at all...that is really mean! It is bad enough that it is now a blockout date for my Fantasy pass so I certainly won't be attending this year. We plan to head elsewhere for the evening and enjoy the festivities, last year was a bit of a let down because of the freezing fog and the queues were horrible...even to go to the loo! Shame on you Scrooge!!

ED92 posted saying the party will feature floats from various parades including Magic on Parade and Stars n Cars. It will be nice to see but is it worth the price of the ticket?

I have no problem with this at all and tbh was quite surprised they didn't have a ticketed NYE event considering what they already do for Halloween. Imo they were selling themselves massively short before and comparing this to what you pay for spending NYE in a capital city like London it's very reasonable.

My only proviso is they must now make it really worth being a ticketed event and do something spectacular with it.
