Quote from: "dagobert"Magicforum's partner site Dlp.info has posted a new picture of WoDS:

Since Kristof has posted so mayn construction pictures there is nothing new on this ones, but I have never realized that there are stairs leading to the train plattforms. I#ve only thought that the train station is the only way to reach the trains.

if i remember correct its there in case of an emergency

@ bigrossco: Thanks for the info. I figured that the stairs are for emergencies.

Grandmath from DCP has posted new pictures of the construction:

The building is growing fast.

I had a good look around the World of Disney site at the weekend. 31 New photos: DLRP Today: The World in 360 degrees – World of Disney store construction from every angle!

You can really see the building taking shape from the concept art now:

At the back, there are lots of internal walls going in and spaces for windows that surely confirm there will be a second floor in this area at least (perhaps the second floor for offices/storerooms will only be around the back of the store, with the main entrance having a double-height ceiling to create a nice entrance atrium with the globe):

Inside, the first support columns (for the roof, probably?):

Very exciting!

Thanks for the pictures!
I'm excited about the WoDS, but the new store alone will not improve the merchandise. As long as Disney doesn't introduce merchandise that is worth to buy, I'm not going to spend a lot of money there. Nevertheless I can't wait to see the finished building.

Anthony, you have posted some great pictures on DLRPToday.com. The store looks a lot bigger than expected.

Isn't there any possibility for Disney to get control over the area between DV and the parks. The vendors are so annoying and hopefully the new store will help to improve the area.

So the building doesn't sit flush with the cinema, there will be an alley between the two?

Do you think they will address the "angled posters" and horrible corrugated steel facade of the cinema? Am i right in assuming that the cinema building is higher than the WOD, so will be seen behind it?

The cinema is higher than the store. Hopefully they will do something about the facade of the cinema. It looks terrible and I'm sure it will even look more terrible when the beautiful WoDS building is finished.

Yes, there will be. It's needed for the cinema's fire escapes. I hope the area will be blocked off, though. We don't want people hanging about behind there. :P

I have a great feeling that its gonna be ready earlier then expected! :D  What do you think guys?

It does seem like that. If not that, then early 2012 at the latest. :)

Then again, people were saying that the castle might be finished early as well, but it's still going to be done in August.

It'll probably take longer to do the interior and the exterior aesthetics.

That concept art makes it look more like a high street department store :?

Josh

#282
What sorts of high street department stores have you seen with giant globes above the entrance? :P

No, I agree. It does look high street rather than the fantastical look that the US world of Disney stores have. And as for the dome... It's very art deco, as is the whole building
