This would sort of make sense... If they do a holiday overlay, it would then reopen as Phantom Manor in early 2019.

If they've done a whole refurb of the attraction, it would seem stupid not to make arrangements for an overlay, given the popularity in CA and Tokyo.

It may not be ready in time for this Christmas still but if they're going to make it possible to do a holiday overlay in future they would have to test that things work so...

I think this was probably planned along. If we think about it, it sort of makes sense.

Phantom Manor was scheduled to reopen fall 2018, before being delayed to early 2019. It could be possible the plan was always to reopen in fall 2018 in the NBC overlay, and then officially reopen as PM2 in early 2019.

Unless they are just decorating the outside like some people think, but then that makes no sense at all (why would they be testing where to put Xmas decorations outside before the Xmas season? Wouldn't make sense xD!)

At the least, the props could be for a festive Meet'n'greet with Jack and Sally.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if they are testing things for a future overlay - and I'd guess some of the items could remain inside the attraction for quicker install.

Disney&More is reporting that the Manor will now open it's doors around Febuary 14th or 15th.

That's cutting it close for my next visit at the end of February. I hope there aren't any more delays

Hi all,

It seems that Phantom Manor is't opening in time for my next visit in March, that's what i read on the renovation section
at the DLP site.

This picture surfaced yesterday, after an interview with Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald. When they started the refurbished i read somewhere that an audioanamatronic of Melanie would be placed upon the stairs of the boarding area. I'm really excited now!

Slimy yet satisfying

Booked for Nov just passed and Feb 19  after opening dates given by DP only to be delayed again, not booking again till I see it is actually open. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the rest of the park but PM is my all time favourite and to ride the refurbed version was what I made my booking for.

Can't believe how quiet things have got for this! Gutted because we're going next week and purposefully picked these dates as it should have been far enough in the future to take into account any potential delays.

Starting to feel they've perhaps broken something pretty old and they're having trouble resolving the issue? Just seems so odd the complete lack of any news at all. I know that there were rumours of Asbestos, but we certainly haven't seen any evidence of that either.

The Spirit Photography booth is being removed soon (can't remember the exact date) which people were taking as a sign that they were ramping things up to reopen.

I'm not going again until July - if it's not open by then something must have gone horribly wrong inside!

So we finally have a date - May 3rd!

There's some spoilers in the rest below so stop now if you don't want to know more!

Other confirmed things:
- The ride will be in both French and English with Vincent Price as the English version
- The portrait gallery has been changed. It now shows the portraits of four unfortunate suitors for Melanie and what happened to them
- They've confirmed what has long been implied - Henry Ravenswood is the Phantom. He didn't consider any man good enough for his daughter and so one by one the suitors disappeared.
- There's more of Melanie and the Phantom in the attraction
- The loading area has had more colour added to it with Melanie now standing at the top of the stairs
- The music room features the wreaths of all the deceased suitors and a new figure of the Phantom playing the minor key version of the wedding march
- Madame Leota has been updated although her overall look is intact
- The town scene remains but has been completely redone - the figure reanimated, everything repainted, there's some new illusions and some that have been finally repaired such as the druggist scene and card game
- At the end we see the suitors were walled up in the manor but one is still trying to break out
- Melanie has been in the manor all this time going a little crazy and the new ghost at the end is her reaching out to see if you want to marry her
- The outside of the building has been completely redone and the gazebo added to enable meet and greets. At the moment it's Mickey there but Jack is an obvious option for other parts of the year.

All in all it sounds pretty incredible!

I gasped when I saw the teaser trailer. I'm beyond excited at the refurb news, but sadly will not get to see it this year due to being broke. Looking forward to the reviews though. PM is absolutely my fave attraction ever.

We are finally getting Haunted Manor merch!!! The merch will only available at the opening and while it lasts, and the book will arrive in summer.
Hopefully this will mean we can get some more permanent or seasonal merch for the Haunted Manor. Since I'm going on Halloween, I have my fingers crossed!
