Quote from: "Mickey News"Tokyo Disneyland operator Oriental Land Co said Tuesday it will open an indoor Disney entertainment facility in alliance with its partner Walt Disney Co of the United States in a major Japanese city other than Tokyo in or after 2010.

"We would like to allow people far away from Tokyo Disney Resort to enjoy the Disney world," said Oriental Land Executive Vice President Akio Nagaoka. Candidate cities for the first indoor Disney facility in Japan may include Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka, the company said. The facility may occupy several floors of a large building in an urban center, offering Disney shows, shops and restaurants for families, it said.

It will probably be something like the concept art that could be found in the Walt Disney Co. anual report earlier this year.

Interesting. :) I hope they make it better than Disney Quest, that's all I can say.

It's cool how we're gradually ticking off which resort each of those concept arts was created for.

I've posted a high resolution version of this concept art on the magicblog here, and also a few close-ups of interesting details.  :)

Oriental Land Co. announced that it dropped the idea of building this Disney-themed entertainment complex.

QuoteTokyo Disney Resort operator Oriental Land Co Ltd said on Tuesday it had scrapped a plan for a new Disney-theme entertainment complex in a major city in Japan, citing the poor prospects of the project's investment returns.

The firm said it would continue to explore possibilities for a new business, which might not involve Disney characters.

The company and Walt Disney Co (DIS.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) have spent more than a year studying a plan to build an urban-style amusement facility in 2010 or later, but they decided that the estimated investment return would not justify the project, it said.

It's really strange how that's suddenly popped up after it was announced so long ago, you'd have thought that they'd realized the problems with it back then. Perhaps Disney will begin to think of another, or other, places for it to go instead
