I'm hoping this post is allowed in this section; apologies if not

I'm trying to find out some information regarding the safe deposit boxes that some of the Disney hotels offer, mainly at Disney's Hotel New York. We're worried that our camera might fill up before our holiday is out, so we're thinking of taking a laptop with us so at the end of each evening, we can unload our pictures onto it. After learning that the bedroom safe is tiny at best, we're not sure if we want to take a laptop. It's not that we don't trust the staff, but you just never know.

We then read that some hotels offer safe deposit boxes, however there seems to be limited information about them. A Google search turns up pages and pages of reviews stating that the SDBs are available but no more information than that. Can anyone help me with any/all of the following please?

1. Is there an additional cost to use a SDB, and if so how much?
2. Would it be big enough to hold a standard-size laptop?
3. Would we be able to access it at all times?

Any help would be appreciated

2) No. It is large enough for phones, passports and the like. Not a laptop.
3) Yes it's in your room

Identical to HNY for the DLH.
I will add that you can fit a 10 inch tablet in there without too much trouble.
It'll take up pretty much all the ground area in the safe, but it does fit.

Have you considered to buy a couple of extra memory cards instead?
Or maybe bring a tablet and transfer via bluetooth if you are using a phone?

Thanks for the information guys - I'm guessing this is regarding the bedroom safe? I was actually referring to the reception SDBs Sorry, I should have made that a bit clearer.

We don't own a tablet - never really thought about it to be honest. Might be something to look into though. Taking extra memory cards is a good idea, thank you

I have used the reception safety box before many moons ago when they didn't have them as standard in all the rooms! You can tell how many years ago that was! They are pretty much identical to the in room safes or at least they were back then. They were free of charge and you could access them anytime but you had to have a member of staff with you who also had a key to the same box, sort of double security. I remember I could fit my purse, passports etc in but back they they wouldn't have fit in a laptop either. Whether this has changed I don't know but back in 2002, 2003 and 2004 they were like the ones in the room x

Thanks all. We've decided that we're going to play it safe and take some extra cards for the camera and/or a tablet if we can afford one and understand it At least this way we can use the room safe.
