Title: Disney Movie soundtracks not what they used to be?
Post by: Aveen2008 on November 28, 2009, 05:13:42 PM
I was just listening to a few Disney songs and it kind of hit me how there really is very few great songs in disney movies anymore that you will remember from the movie. If I name older Disney movies I am sure we can all list at least one well known song from it....
Lion King- circle of life
cinderella- a dream is a wish your heart makes
snow white - hi ho
aladdin - a whole new world

They are just off the top of my head and usually there was 2 or 3 brilliant songs in these films that were memorable. I don't think this happens anymore. Thinking of recent Disney movies:

Up - nope can't think of even one song that was in that movie
Wall-E- nope
Bolt - I can only think of that one with Miley cirus.john travolta, there may have been one other song but i don't even remember it.
cars - nope
monsters inc - nope
nemo- nope

Actually I see the trend mainly -appart from Bolt which I actually could rememeber 2 songs from, the rest are Pixar movies!
Is it just pixar that don't put songs in Disney movies anymore or at least memorable ones? They did with toy story 1 & 2.

I just miss when Disney films had a brilliant soundtrack and memorable songs, they made the films fantastic. Most of the films released in the past 5 years don't! The last Disney soundtrack that I thought worth buying was Enchanted, which did an amazing job on their movie music!

Does anyone else have any thoughts on this??

I'm hoping this trend will change with films like "Princess and the Frog" and "Rapunzel" coming out soon! I agree though, Disney is known for such rich scores and wonderful songs. I'm glad they're bringing them back :)
