Original Post

(Some details in these early posts are guesses or rumours that should not be read as confirmed events for the 15th, confirmed events are shown above.)

A little early, yes, but I've just noticed what would appear to be the first official confirmation of this year-long celebration - the DLRP press site states that a "15th Anniversary logo" will be available soon!

A short while ago some rumours on other forums were suggesting the 15th would be perhaps the biggest celebration yet for the resort, with a new parade, new show (on Royal Castle Stage), Toon Studios in WDS and (just maybe) an early opening of Tower of Terror in WDS.

The fact that they're getting ready to release the logo now, so far in advance, suggests that they're going for one hell of a marketing push with this one.

Go on DLRP, you can do it!  :D

How Exciting! Hopefully by 2007 I will be a fulltime castmember and will be there for the celebrations and new parade! Which im very excited about... Dancin' A Catchy Rhythm is kinda getting monotonous! lol still a great parade song though.

Do you think the castle could/should be refurbished for the 15th anniversary?  I read a rumour somewhere a while ago that it would be done in the next few years, and unless they do it this year then they won't be able to do it until 2008, because they won't want it being refurbed during the anniversary year.

I think this photo from dlrp.fr made me realise even more just how badly the castle needs it:

I'd heard that the Castle, Big Thunder Mountain and the Disneyland Hotel would get their rehab in 2006, to be finished right in time for the 15th anniversary.  :?:

I think that's what I heard too.  Since the Disneyland Hotel has just had its refurbishment restarted after the Christmas break and that Big Thunder Mountain is scheduled to be closed from 4th September to 3rd November... a castle rehab could definately happen this year!  :D

God I really hope there is a castle rehab, it is diar needs for one, I mean look how faded that once regal fairytale pink is now, though it's impressive finally Disneyland Hotel is getting its rehab again, about time too, let's hope that Big Thunder Mountain does get one too it needs it, there's only a certain amount of moss a man made mountain can take to be realistic  .

Oh my god!  It's the official 15th Anniversary logo!

Errr... or not.

Apparently the park's name will be changed to "The Magic Kingdom - Paris", and so for the occasion they turned the Disneyland Park logo purple instead of pink and squashed it a bit... Yeah, ok...

Hey there!
Well I must confess... I'm coming from the mousekingdom forum and I believed it   Maybe I should mention that I'm pretty naive and I believe things very quickly, especially when they have something to do with Disneyland and rumors about it ;)

But I think they haven't treated me very nicely there and while I read your comments in this forum, I'd say that the atmosphere here is more familiar and warmer, too--I hope so :)
And, not to forget: You guys seem to know more about DLRP than the folks of the mousekingdom forum

Hey Nala, welcome!

You mentioned exact the same reason why I registered here too. Although no one over at the DLP.info Board has treated me with disrespected, I overall thought that the atmosphere on that board wasn't was it used to be. I'm not the person who thinks that everyting Disney is great (I'm just to realistic for that), but at some points I felt that almost every topic overthere was negative. I should point out that not everything has to be positive on a forum, otherwise it would get boring, but it just wasn't the kind of atmosphere I am looking for at a forum. :)

Not the bash the DLP.info Board at all, and I apologise to the people who feel that way, but I like to talk about Disney together with some other fans on a positive note. And I am glad that I found that here at the Photosmagiques Forum.

Welcome Narla, can definately say it is nicer and happier here on this forum, also yeah I understand about DLP.info I had that half the time so I just refuse to post on their anymore, but enough of negativaty, welcome to the boards :) .

Hey Narla
Welcome on these cool forums!
I prefer this forum and Kris's (http://www.forums.chrismeda.co.uk (http://www.forums.chrismeda.co.uk)) one to dlrp.info too. Its so negative and hard to navagate through it. Still there's some good info on the main site!

That might not be such a good thing...

I think it's definately more "reasonable" here, if that makes sense.  No jumping to wild conclusions or hating DLRP just for the sake of it.  You will definately still hear negative opinions, but they're much more justified (like the placing of those Little Green Men cardboard cut outs above the Buzz entrance!).

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it here, as we go through a big year for DLRP as they build up to the 15th Anniversary. *tries desperately to say something on-topic*

Hehe, thanx a lot to all of you :)

Yeah, I think it'll be MUCH more comfortable in this board ;) And I think you're right, the others maybe are a bit too negative, and I also think the forum's too hard to handle there. This here is so pretty blue *g*

So I'm glad that you all are so friendly and nice and I don't matter when anyone says anything negative--I guess nobody's perfect and so isn't the DLRP, but let's emphasize the many good things of it :)

This "Once Upon A Dream"-Parade sounds so great!! I'm really looking forward to it and especially to the Toon Studios :) *alsotryingtostayontopic*

Have they advertised anything or any more details come through reacently?
Title:
Post by: Anthony on May 05, 2006, 09:58:56 PM
No, nothing yet.  I'd bet on a mid-July launch for the press releases and perhaps a logo or something.  Like I think I said before, that's when they released Laser Blast stuff last year, so it'd make sense for them to follow the same calendar again.

I can't wait to see what they'll do with the 15th Anniversary.  It could so easily be amazing yet it could so easily be a disappointment!  We'll have Toon Studios and Tower of Terror of course, but it remains to be seen if they can package it all up as well as the US resorts did with their 50th Anniversary additions.  :?

Any guesses or hopes for what the logo might be like?  My first (and very unoriginal) guess would be for it to be like the normal earful tower and castle graphic, but with a big 15...  :)

Well, here it is! The "official" logo at last:

By the looks of it, the actual DLRP logo will also change. Not sure if I like the new fonts at the bottom, but they are ok I guess. Emphasises the "Paris" aspect

I kinda like it! My olny comment, and im really sorry to sound negative, hate to, but it seems to be linked to the new advertising. Yes thats good, but im just frustrated that the new advertising is aimed at little kids with the pirates and princess theme.

Just wish they would go for a more classic look, rather than heavy with the infants!

I'm against all you hate it opinions since I really really like it  :P , it's modern, it's got tinkerbell, the castle is actually of the one in Paris   and the fonts and colours fit it perfectly, not everything has to be medieval themed to be able to advertise Disneyland Resort Paris :D .  Plus the big 15 helps also like the line where dreams come true it works well.  So definately one of their best pieces of artwork if you ask me :) .

*Sigh* I know... I love the 2002 resort logo, it's the best of all the Disney resorts.  Not perfect, but far better than the others.

They made the "resort" part smaller for the Beleive In Your Dreams stuff, and now they're taking it further.  It's not good.

This logo looks a bit like a fan project to be honest, albeit a rather good one.  I actually thought someone was just posting an idea or something when I first glanced at it...

Little Blue Bird told me that they were thinking about dropping it and just call it Disneyland, without resort & paris.  I posted before that staff is now allowed to say Disneyland Paris in interviews and refer to it in articles when the logo or Disneyland Resort Paris is mentioned once.

Adding "Resort" to the name made sens - on paper.

In reality, the term "resort" never clicked with European consumers. I think it would be an interesting topic to invistigate further as to why Europeans don't embrace a "resort" (yet).

I'd be glad if they just returned to "Disneyland Paris" and be done with it.

I think they do understand "resort" as a concept.  The only problem is that people can never be bothered saying "Disneyland Resort Paris", the same way everyone says "Disney World" instead of "Walt Disney World Resort in Florida".

The way they have "resort" in normal weight font and then "paris" in bold in this logo looks really messy, and the lower case letters don't help.  :(

Keep in mind that while "resort" might be a more or less common term in English, it is rather new to other languages... therefore not as understandable as Disney might have hoped.

Awww, that looks awesome! Is this really official now? Beautiful colours...

There will surely come out pins and stuff with the logo, won't it? It would be so cool to get a free gift in the 15th celebrations-year, but I guess that'll be "Utopia" ;)

The logo looks great. Allright the castle looks a bit hard, but it really must appeal to children and families because it looks very simple but great. Nice colours indeed.
I think the name should remain as Disneyland Resort Paris or just as Disneyland Paris. Only Disneyland isn't that good, because Disneyland in California has already only the name Disneyland right ? So wouldn't it be a bit confusing to have to resorts with the only the name Disneyland ?!

I guess you're right - I've noticed quite a bit of discussion about this on some French forums at the moment.  I still think people do get the concept of a resort destination like DLRP, but it's true that the word "resort" itself doesn't translate well into French and other languages.  They should improve their marketing communication a bit... explain in their brochure the meaning behind "un resort", everything in one place, etc... I don't think changing the name again is the answer, and to be honest I personally don't believe they ever will.

Going back to the logo - it's really obvious now that this was designed by the same people who did the 50th logos and the newer "year of a million dreams" ones, it's very similar.  I don't like the pink of the castle in the logo, or how square it looks, and when you make it smaller the "resort" actually almost disappears making it look even more messy.  But it'll do.  :)

I wonder... will we get a 15th Anniversary song?

My guess is that you will see "Disneyland Paris" being used more and more in advertising the place... (raptor, didn't you post a while back that they are now officially allowed to use this name again?) ... While I could imagine that the "resort" will pop up more in travel brochures and press releases...

Official Press Release!!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

It's The Year to Live Your Dream!

Go ahead: live a little, dream a lot. From April 2007-March 2008, we're celebrating our 15th birthday with our biggest party ever, and you're invited! It's also the BEST time to live your Disney dream. Oh, and did we mention the cherry on the cake? Nonstop Disney birthday treats! So get ready to make a wish, and unwrap your dreams – this is the year to be here.

It starts the moment you step onto Main Street, U.S.A.®. Before you know it, your toes are tapping to the spectacular new Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade. But they're not the only ones tapping. You might just get a tap on the shoulder from the hand (or paw) of a famous Disney Character. Mickey, Minnie, Baloo, or Cinderella! They're all here to re-live with you the most beloved Disney stories like never before. Be our guest: Dance. Sing. Do everything you've dreamed – in new Character locations created for this very special year.

After this kind of exhilaration, the last thing you expect is for your mouth to drop open in awe as you check out what's next on your party plan. But as you gaze onto this birthday landscape of fun, that's exactly what happens. Crush's Coaster*, your first stop, is the all-new family coaster designed to whoosh and swish you into the world of Nemo and Squirt. It's like... wow, dude – especially the close calls with Bruce's hungry jaws. Yikes! And those twists and turns of the Eastern Australian Current. Whoah!

Hey, but that's just a warm-up for your next stop...which, by the way, is all GO! Start your engines, dreamsters. The new Cars: Race Rally** puts your family behind the wheel of a convertible, and into the sleepy town of Radiator Springs. Go on: put a little "four on the floor", and raise some fairy dust!

So let's get this Disney party started! After all, a celebration like this only comes once every 15 years. Make it The Year to Live Your Dream.

* Inspired by Disney/Pixar's Finding Nemo.
Attraction opens June 2007.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

So....
- No mention of Tower of Terror!
- "Cars: Race Rally" seems to be the confirmed name.
- "Crush's Coaster"?? They've got to be joking...
- "Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade" isn't just a dream.
- It'll run from April 2007 to March 2008, confirmed.

I'm think they've left Tower of Terror and perhaps the new WDS parade out of this because if they announce it all now, then they won't have anything new to announce this time next year.  They need to keep the ball rolling throughout the year with more new announcements all the time.  So ToT fans... don't worry!

I do think "Crush's Turtle Twister" fans should be worried though... the new "Crush's Coaster" name is awful in my opinion... "Turtle Twister" seemed so definite!  :(

And press releases for Crush and Cars:

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Feel the rush with Nemo and Crush.

Hang loose with Nemo and Squirt on the new rip-roaring ride, Crush's Coaster – opening June 2007. Totally inspired by Disney's presentation of Pixar's Finding Nemo, this is one of two new major attractions opening in celebration of the 15th anniversary of Disneyland Resort® Paris.

Get ready to plunge into the underwater world of Nemo and Squirt. A world full of adventure, fun and hidden "dangers"... oh yes, and a few thousand fish.

Here, you'll "sea" life a little differently as you twist and turn over colourful coral reefs with Squirt, Nemo and friends. But don't close your eyes... or you'll miss the fun as you dive straight down into the inky darkness of the deep to explore a sunken submarine nestling in an underwater minefield. Watch out - you'll have to keep your eyes peeled to avoid coming face-to-face with Bruce, the vegetarian shark and his snapping mates. But what's there to worry about? Just remember fish are friends, not food. But hang on, you're not fish, are you?

Then, if you thought escaping the sharks was a white-knuckle ride, prepare yourself for the rush: spinning and twisting with along the powerful Eastern Australian Current, where even the coolest dudes have to screeeeeeeeam! So hang ten (and hang on) for the ride of your life!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

You've seen the movie, now take it for a spin.

Hit the road with Lightning McQueen and friends on the new piston-pumping ride Cars: Race Rally – opening June 2007. Inspired by Disney's presentation of Pixar's Cars, this is just one of two brilliant new attractions opening in celebration of the 15th anniversary of Disneyland Resort® Paris.

Welcome to Radiator Springs, a sleepy, one-horse-power town that's about to be woken up. So fuel-up for fun and get in gear to join this engine-roaring rally on the dusty desert track of Route 66 - you just know it's going to be a gas!

Rest assured though there's no need for pre-race nerves, as Lightning McQueen will be there to give you all the best driving tips. Quote from: "Baloo"I'm think they've left Tower of Terror and perhaps the new WDS parade out of this because if they announce it all now, then they won't have anything new to announce this time next year.

1.) If they announced the opening of the biggest E-Ticket ride since "Space Mountain" for November 2007, there might be trouble getting people interested in visiting the resort earlier that year...

2.) By not stating an opening date for the ride, they still have lots of "wiggle"-room, in case construction should be delayed for whatever reason. (Just look at what happend at poor De Efteling...)

Yep, absolutely.  It's amazing to think that these three massive new things (in DLRP terms, anyway) are only the tip of the iceberg, and it's nice to see DLRP be cunning in a good way and try to keep some secret surprises for later in the celebration.  I like your idea of "wiggle room" too, that's very true.

It's obvious to us ToT will be included anyway, whenever it opens, because of course it's not going to open later than March 2008.  As for the rumoured new WDS parade... it could be a good addition for March 2008, to end the festival and as a final 5th/6th birthday present to the studios.  OR they could hold that back until later in 2008, because with adding so much new stuff during the 15th, they might have a bit of a drought after the festival ends...

Quote from: "raptor1982"So do you think we can expect a "catchy" soundtrack?
Oh yes, they know how popular Dancin' (A Catchy Rhythm) is.  I wouldn't be surprised if they used the song for part of the festival actually - not for the new parade soundtrack, but just "around and about" the park in various events.  It's meant to be a celebration of the past 15 years, after all. :)

Quote from: "raptor1982"Even more characters locations??  Where do you think they'll put 'm?
They could be referring to the ones in Toon Studios (Incredibles, Mickey, Cars, etc), infact that's probably quite a likely option.  Other than that, perhaps a Princess meet 'n' greet at the Royal Castle Stage?  Or those rumoured Pocahontas or Brother Bear ones in Frontierland?  Maybe another Pirates of the Caribbean meet 'n' greet in Adventureland?  Or one with Captain Hook on his ship?  There's soooo many possibilities, which is actually rather worrying - the parks are truly going to be overflowing with them soon.

I'd guess they'll prepare little locations in the whole park, just for the party?! Maybe only a few fitting backgrounds to each Character?

There isn't an official date set for Toon Studios, no, but it's definitely going to be June now, sorry!  Also, they haven't started on the Cars attraction yet.  It's a fairly simple ride, so it won't take long at all.  The "Nonstop Disney birthday treats!" is probably just marketing talk, I wouldn't read into it too much.

I think it looks like a fan did it.  The "15" looks pretty dodgy and the characters are so small that unless you show the key visual in full-size they just disappear and you can't see them properly.

I don't know what the key visual is meant to represent, either - they're not decorating the castle, are they?  All it shows is random characters adding some sparkle to the castle... I think it's a bit dull and looks very unprofessional compared to the recent new Wishes and Halloween key visuals.  :(

If the 15th is as big as I think it'll be, though, this should be the first of many marketing visuals, so we don't need to worry just yet...

Visuals removed on request by Disneyland Resort Paris

Phew, you wouldn't believe how long that took!  Again, sorry about the copyrights, but we have to respect these are copyright Disney and probably shouldn't even be posted.

What do you think? :)  I like how in each one the characters are in a different place, with the logo in a different place and the castle at different angles.  They've obviously spent a *lot* of time and money on this!  I think these will be popping up later this year and in early 2007 as brochure covers for travel agents.

Which is everyone's favourite visual?

Title:

I'm going to defy expectations and not choose Baloo... I think the Aladdin and Dumbo ones are the best - I love the angle they've used for the castle, and the night-time Dumbo one looks *so* magical.

I've also got some more information about what the point of these decorations might be... well, by "information" I mean "one sentence".

They promise "A celebratory atmosphere, with castle & park specially decorated for the 15th anniversary year", and say you'll be able to "Enjoy the beauty of a captivating one-of-a-kind anniversary ceremony every night at Sleeping Beauty's Castle".

Now, I'm thinking... an "anniversary ceremony", and the characters are holding candles.  Could they be blowing the candles out?  It'd be like the Enchanted Fairytale Ceremony in reverse...

My favorite one is Pinochio by the way.

Raptor said it already, but as I said in my post above, I think these will be popping up later this year and in early 2007 as brochure covers for travel agents.  They just produce a lot of them because it makes it easier for travel companies to use them in their brochures (more options), and the easier it is = the better advertising they get!

I've been wondering about this as well.  I think they will be fully coloured, as you see them in these visuals.  Since a 50th is a "golden" anniversary, it might not make much sense having golden characters yet, even if they'd fit in a bit better.

This topic's very quiet these days. :) I think DLRP are being a bit more careful what they release now (i'm not saying anything...).  If I remember correctly, there will be a full press release about the anniversary in November, so we should hopefully get more news - and maybe even some more concept art - then.

Until then though, there's still lots to discuss:
- the castle decorations
- the nighttime candles ceremony
- the new character locations
- advertising, marketing
- the anniversary itself
- will it save the resort?
etc.

What do you mean with "will it save the resort"? :( Does that mean that this anniversary could be the last one?? Does it stand so bad with DLRP? I hope not, and I suggest they should take lower prices, and maybe more people would come ;)

Well, I'm the most curious about the nighttime candles ceremony, the parade and the castle decorations :)! Will the ceremony be there every night next year? I hope so!

The new character locations make me curious, too. I hope there'll be the ones I've always wanted to meet :)

Quote from: "Nala_84"What do you mean with "will it save the resort"? :( Does that mean that this anniversary could be the last one?? Does it stand so bad with DLRP?
Well there seems to be the general concensus with both the resort itself and fans and partners that 2007 will be make or break.  Three attractions, a new parade, huge new marketing pushes - everyone is asking themselves: If 2007 doesn't work, what will?

I always think we have to remember, though, that DLRP accounts for more than 12,000 jobs and closing the resort would lead to a serious decline for the whole Marne-la-Vallée region.  Someone, somewhere, would step in to save the day.  I honestly believe Disneyland will always be alive in Paris.

What 2007 will determine most of all for us fans is whether we get any extra new attractions in 2009 and beyond (those rumours of Soarin, etc.).  If the anniversary doesn't work, I guess the resort will need to produce some kind of rescue plan, and as we've seen in the past this usually means no new attractions for some time.

Personally, I'm optimistic.  We should get a preview of whether new attractions will work in October/November with this year's Annual Report (Laser Blast), and that will probably prepare us for good or bad news.  The problems of DLRP won't go away in a year, but if 2007 is a success then it'll take the resort one giant leap nearer to success.

I've been thinking about the nighttime candles ceremony after reading some french forums - how are they actually going to do a "nighttime" ceremony (in the style of the Enchanted Fairytale Ceremony) all year-round?  If the park closes at 8pm, then it won't be dark enough during most months.

The daily anniversary ceremony is confirmed, and I think most people's first guess is that it'll involve the candles of the character decorations, right?  So it'll be interesting to see how they change the pattern of the sun to coincide...

Unless the candles actually won't have much importance afterall, and so it won't matter if it's still daylight. (They could focus on characters on a central plaza stage perhaps?) I suppose another possibility is that the ceremony will take place on Royal Castle Stage, and will be more of a full "show" with the castle just as a backdrop... *spreads dodgy false rumours*

I believe that 2007 will be a good year for DLRP, a anniversary year is usually good for extra visitors.Advertising plays a major role of course ,pictures of the castle with the planned decorations can only work as a advantage in my opinion.
New attractions can also work as a magnet ,this in combination with new events shouldn't give us too much to worry about. There will still be some problems and the usual complaints but good planning is half of the job done.

I wasn't a "DLRP fan" back in 1997, but from what I've heard since becoming a fan that celebration had a very good effect on the park... and they didn't even get any new attractions!

It's weird I bumped this topic today because of a lack of news - I just found a new logo sitting there on Extraordinet:

(sorry for all the text, but you know how it is..)

I really like it! :D I wondered when they'd do a more simple logo like this - the old one is a bit bulky on most documents and things.
Title:
Post by: DisneyBud on September 04, 2006, 10:12:51 AM
I like that new logo too, simplicity can be very effective. And I hope, that 2007 isn't the end, but with a big push they can do it, and surely they wouldn't be putting all this extra money into new attractions/parade etc if they knew they weren't going to get any of it back.  So the big wigs are either taking a HUGE risk, or have something up their sleeves to rescue this wonderful place.

An article from November 1997, about that year's annual results:

Quote from: "BBC News"Disneyland Paris profits soar

Minnie's all smiles - she has seen the balance sheet

Profits at Euro Disney are proving something of a fairytale: the company's net profit for the year rose to 217 million French Francs from 202 million - beating predictions.

The improvement was largely due to higher theme park and hotel sales and better cost control, the company said.

For the year to September, sales at the Hotel and Disney Village operations increased by 13.1% to 2.167 billion FF, mainly attributable to a 5.8% increase in hotel bookings and a large increase in sales at Disney Village.

Visitors to the Disneyland Paris theme park rose from 11.7 million last year to 12.6 million. Sales in the theme park were also up to 5.477 billion FF, from 4.968 billion.

Euro Disney SCA managing director Gilles Pelisson said plans for development, including housing, office space and a shopping centre at the site east of Paris were the key to the company's future.

The project on the 300-hectare site adjoining the Disneyland and Disney Village developments will create "direct value" in the form of lease and other cash income, he said.

Mr Pelisson did not quantify likely cash income, but said the site was likely to attract some 4 billion FF of private and public investment.

He said the company's policy on pricing would continue to be "extremely cautious", but that there would be a "very slight" increase in prices in the year to Sept 1998. Efforts would also be made to reduce the length of queues at the fast-food stalls in the park, with a view to boosting spending per visitor.

At 1:25pm on Thursday, Euro Disney shares were trading up 0.05 FF at 7.45, off a high of 7.70 in a slightly weaker market just after the company's net profit was announced.
I guess the anniversary year was indeed very good for them! :o

Here's a calendar from the DRPPartners official site, showing upcoming seasons and events:

Strangely, it shows the Anniversary as beginning in mid-February whilst Disney's Once Upon a Dream parade begins just after April (when it's rumoured to be starting March 31st).

So will DLRP be trying to fill the gaps left by Kids Carnival and Easter with a pre-opening of the Anniversary?  I don't think it'd be that exciting though - all you'd get is castle decorations and a few extra characters, until the "real" celebration kicks in April 1st...  :?

No Halloween and Christmas: ohhhh yeah!    :(

I suppose we've just got to hope they'll be "absorbed" into the 15th.  I can't ever see them not doing Halloween or Christmas now, they're far too popular.  People return year after year to those events and so stopping them for the 15th would be a disaster.

This calendar has never been that accurate, so I suppose we have to hope they've just missed some of the "smaller" things off to push the 15th as the big event.  Walt Disney Studios without Lilo & Stitch, Good Morning WDS and Cruella would be a disaster too...

Whatever happens though, DOUADP (doesn't look as good as WWODP, does it?), Crush and Cars should make the 15th very worthwhile.  Oh, and ToT.

The TO Covers visuals disappeared from Extraordinet a few weeks ago, and since then I was starting to get worried the plans had been cancelled.  Luckily, though, the visuals have returned today, albeit in new, updated form.

The biggest change is the replacement of Winnie on the 3rd spire with a new Pinocchio and Figaro design.

Old Version (//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/today/2006/10/images/12-15thchange-03.jpg) | New Version (//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/today/2006/10/images/12-15thchange-04.jpg)

And you'll also notice that instead of plain wax candles, the characters are now holding candles with a spiral fringe in very classy gold spiked holders.  Rather elegant, eh?

They also released some different characters this time - there's now ones with Donald, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto in the spotlight.

Donald Version (//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/today/2006/10/images/12-15thchange-05.jpg) | Pluto Version (//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/today/2006/10/images/12-15thchange-06.jpg)

It's good to see the designs becoming more finalised... I guess they'll have to start actually making the figurines soon? :)

Btw - if anyone wants to post those on another forum, please post a link and not the visual, it uses up lots of bandwidth since I saved them a bigger size this time. Thanks

So, any news yet on if th echaracters will be in colour, or "bronzed" as they were in WDW?
Title:
Post by: Anthony on October 12, 2006, 11:25:16 PM
Since they're in colour on all these visuals, I'm fairly confident they'll be the same in reality.

I don't think gold or bronze characters would suit a 15th anniversary.  They seem to be going for a bright and colourful yet classic Disney theme with the anniversary, rather than the grander and more majestic 50th.  Which makes sense, really.  I think the more modern feel also suits well with the two new Pixar WDS attractions and the kinda un-Disney ToT being a key part of the year.
Title:

Dont forget Stitch, or is that not yet officialy confirmed?
Title:
Post by: Anthony on October 12, 2006, 11:40:51 PM
Still unconfirmed... If it is true (and we haven't heard a single negative yet), then they might do the same as they're doing for ToT and not mention it until the first wave of attractions have opened, so that the flow of guests is spread right throughout the year.  If things go the way we hope, they'll have the start of the celebration in April, Toon Studio in June, Stitch in November and then Tower in 2008 - that way the year will continue to be strong all the way through.

You might laugh at me for being a loser here, but a Disney Anniversary year is like a tent.  And like any tent, you can't just prop it up at one end with a new parade - you need to hold it up at both ends (Tower).  And then, if it's sagging in the middle... get another few poles (Toon Studio and later Stitch).

*hides*
Title:
Post by: penfold12 on October 12, 2006, 11:46:59 PM
Not such a bad analogy. They use it in the movies! A tent peg movie is a summer blockbuster, the income supports the rest of the years more "artist" releases!

The French official 15th Anniversary brochure for groups is now available!!

http://disneylandparis.com/fr/collectiv ... chures.htm (http://disneylandparis.com/fr/collectivite/brochures.htm)
(scroll down a bit and click for the very posh pop-up ebrochure)

It's so pretty I might cry...  DLRP have turned themselves around sooo much these last few years. Whilst it's only short, it definitely gives us a look at what to expect with the final Official Holiday Guide brochure. :D

Edit: It also mentions the evening ceremony each day!

À la fi n de la journée, retrouvez Mickey et ses amis près du Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant afin d'assister à un superbe spectacle musical en l'honneur de ce 15e anniversaire.

At the end of each day, join Mickey and his friends by Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant for a superb musical spectacle in honor of the 15th Anniversary.

Yay!

No one care about the brochure? Ok then, more 15th news...

Some nice person put the french travel industry trailer online!  It's used in the same way that old "Where?" trailer was, to get travel agents into the "feel" of what they're selling.  So that means this is definitely not a commercial that will make it to TV, DVD, etc.  Anyway, here it is:

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xiwg3_disney-15-th (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xiwg3_disney-15-th)

I think it's good but not great, they ruined it a bit for some reason. Cuts too quickly between things and the music has been messed with. :?

I'm quite sure it's not, the music is far too good. :D

Very badly edited in places, though!  I like the advert a bit more after watching it again, but it's still not as "powerful" the way they've edited it for the french version.

I agree Baloo, but did you notice it must be one of the first things that we have seen that actively attached the Tower of Terror with the 15th celebrations!!! Maybe it will open for Halloween 2007 ???
Title:
Post by: Anthony on October 22, 2006, 09:15:55 PM
Yeah, I definitely did notice that!! :D I suppose that's another thing to prove that this won't ever have a widespread release - DLRP won't officially announce the ToT as part of the anniversary until well into 2007...

One thing added in this trailer, though - look at the bottom when ToT is on screen: it says "Ouverture début 2008" / Opening early 2008!  Do they mean 2008 as the year, or 2008 as their season/Financial year?  Who knows...  :?

Basically, the characters will arrive on a special "train" in Main Street each morning during the celebration, whilst the candles ceremony is now going by the name of "Bougillumination" in French, which sorta translates as "Candllumination"... if you get me... :?

Our Dream passes are renewed in July 2007  so it'll be all good

(btw do all annual passes prompt the ticket machines to say "welcome" when u put them in the slots?) - ours do
Title:

Some do some don't, but so do normal day tickets, I never seem to get a welcome, I simply believe they think I visit too much for living in England  , but that's completely off topic :P .

So I like the new look of them and if I renew mine woo I will be getting an annual pass about 4 days before the actual anniversary :D .
Title:
Post by: Anthony on November 12, 2006, 10:26:27 PM
Lol, I think the turnstiles saying "welcome" is just random. They can't have every machine doing it for every person, since then the amount of "welcome"s would be a bit deafening.  So Patrick I'm sure they weren't really picking on you. :P

Though the Flying Carpets fastpass machine swallowing my AP 30minutes after I got it was quite mean...

Just to answer your earlier question, swity - the celebration continues until March 2008.

That means unless Tower of Terror opens in 2008 they'll have nothing to fill those final 3 months and end it with a bang, so I'm afraid 2008 it will be. (The new WDS parade rumours seem to have died for now)

When Toon Studio opens, or later.

A better question - when will they announce the Toon Studio (Crush and Cars) opening?  With bookings now being made, they can't keep putting a vague "June 2007" for ever...

This discussion should probably go in the relevant topics though.

French newspaper Le Parisien is running a special series of 5 articles this week revealing the elements of the 15th Anniversary.

Yesterdays revealed details about the music for Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=575), and today's looks at the Chateau decorations...

Thanks to gldsun on DCP for the scan.

What my eyes are drawn to is the fact that Goofy's head is GOLD.  And the same seems to be the case for the characters in the artwork behind... so does this mean they won't be full-colour statues afterall?

I'm going to translate both articles on DLRP Today in a bit.  It's a great bit of advertising - le parisien seem to like DLRP for some reason, they did a good article on LOTLK when it premiered.

I'm sure I can see a bit of colour on the artworkd, O i hope they aren't all gold, even though tasteful, colour would be soooo much better!

Compare it with this one:

...And they definitely look gold.  Dumbo and Goofy in particular stand out.

Either the colour version was just for the marketing, or they changed their minds.  I suppose all those different colours would clash quite a bit.  Gold will hopefully fit in well because the castle already has so many gold elements.

The latest Shareholders newletter gives the name of the character train as being "Disney's Character Express", whilst the illumination ceremony seems to be called "Candalabration".  There isn't any more info since for some reason this is the December newsletter (all the other news is old).  For attraction previews it just says "Join us in May 2007 to preview Crush's Coaster and Cars Race Rally", whilst there's no mention of a preview for the April kick-off.

I have no idea when advertising for the 15th will start, but I do know they're still running adverts for Kids Free here in the UK (particularly on digital channels like E4).

I hope the upcoming Peter Pan DVD features some kind of trailer or promo insert.  As for a full campaign for the 15th... their silence isn't encouraging, but maybe it's intentional? :?

The new tickets...

Quote from: "DLRP Today"Your ticket to the dream

Back in the "good old days", the ever-changing designs of the park passports was always a fun element of each visit to the resort, giving a sense of something new and different about each visit - and something nice to sell on eBay all these years later! With the introduction of a more modern ticket system in 2002, generic tickets became the norm for the past five years. Now, for the 15th Anniversary, they're finally shaking it up again...

The new park tickets were announced at the Cast Member Rendez-Vous event earlier this month, and now the designs of the eight different new passport designs have been released. Each ticket option, Park Hopper and 1-Day/1-Park, will have four different designs, each featuring a different graphic from the set of fifteen candle-holding characters we've grown to recognise over the past six months.

(//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/today/2007/01/images/28-15thtickets-01sm.jpg) (//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/today/2007/01/images/28-15thtickets-01.jpg)

The characters chosen to feature are Dumbo, Pinocchio and Pluto, with the fourth design presenting the full set of characters surrounding the large gold "15". Unfortunately, the same set of designs are re-used for each ticket type, with colours and text changed, perhaps making the collection a little less exciting than if a larger number had been used. As reported earlier, Passe-Partout (Park Hopper) tickets are gold, whilst 1-Jour/1-Parc tickets are purple.

(//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/today/2007/01/images/28-15thtickets-02sm.jpg) (//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/today/2007/01/images/28-15thtickets-02.jpg)

(//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/today/2007/01/images/28-15thtickets-03sm.jpg) (//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/today/2007/01/images/28-15thtickets-03.jpg)

One noticable addition to these tickets is the text on the front. Early tickets simply featured the Disneyland Paris logo, whilst those from the past five years simply featured either the Passe-Partout logo or, for the 1-Day/1-Park, a set of Mickey ears. Whilst strange to see the text is presented only in French rather than the usual French/English combination, this should make it much easier for guests - and Cast Members - to see at a glance which ticket they have.

The tickets are expected to begin use on 1st April 2007, the official start of the 15th Anniversary Celebration, and will be used throughout the entire Anniversary year. Then, in March 2008, we'll almost certainly get another new design - good news for collectors (and eBay sellers) !

Card, I think.  If only because I think all the ticket printing machines can only print card tickets, but also these designs have square edges, when the (much nicer, like you say) plastic ones were rounded.

I love the font they're using these days, for the "billet.." part on these tickets.  It's modern but fits with the "magical" design.

Sure he can :D The problem is, most of the disney characters can do sth. like this "accidently"! Maybe they have chosen the staunchly ones: After the ceramony the castle is still standing. Perhaps on fire, but standing.

In case of other characters like stitch the hole resort will be a crater

Ok, some non-paper-tissue news:

Quote from: "DLRP Today"Unfortunately, I've received word from a Cast Member in Paris that the badges have been recalled and will soon be replaced again. It seems the "Where dreams come true" tagline used on the nametags is already in use by another company, and so a quick redesign may apparently be required to avoid any unwanted legal action. The ongoing use of the slogan on the Disney Parks website and elsewhere may suggest an agreement has since been made between the two parties, although it should be noted that all mention of "Where dreams come true" has now been totally removed from Paris' 15th Anniversary logos and copy. Never a dull day at DLRP, eh?
And this is confirmed to be true!  It doesn't seem like CMs will get to keep the nametags either, as they usually do when they're replaced, all the "old" 15th ones have to be returned.

And also:
Quote from: "DLRP Today"But it doesn't end there - the Anniversary will even take flight, 100 metres into the air above the resort, to be exact! The unmissable PanoraMagique balloon at Disney Village will be joining the celebration with a special overlay adding a new design around its middle, featuring several large "15" emblems joined together by a stylish red fabric (-styled) band.

Someone's sat over in Marne-la-Vallée having a good laugh, I expect.  I didn't think it'd be launched so soon though - hopefully we don't have much longer to wait.
Title:
Post by: Martin on February 20, 2007, 05:57:48 PM
Oh that's strange!

The new website was fantastic! It was all done in flash with the video we have already seen as the introduction. It then goes into this sort of central plaza location with different characters dancing to the 'Year of a Million Dreams' music. Then a guide to the website appears and starts talking about the 15th Anniversary. You can then use arrows that are at either side to navigate to different parts of the website.

Town Square - has a drawing of the first float from the new parade with a lot of characters - Aurora and Prince Phillip dancing in the middle of the street and a few others.

There's also Adventureland, Under the Sea (Nemo) and a Cars section. There are a lot of videos there too - including a behind the scenes one of the preparations. There were snippets of the unpainted parade floats. One of the videos also states that the Tower of Terror will carry the 'Twilight Zone' branding and will open in January 2008.

I haven't really been around here much but did you know about this:
//http://en.blog.disneyland15.com/

I'm sure it'll be back soon!

Thanks for the description Martin!  Sounds like VMK-style exploration thing, and a very large project.

The blog - wow, that's an idea I didn't expect!  Shame that the design is a bit naff and it's all very corporate though.  A (C) or (R) after every official name, and the translation makes the text sound dull.  It's not professional enough to be totally official, but not amateurish enough to be a nice fan project.

At first I thought "Tristane" was a made-up person, but then I realised she's in that video.

The music on the parade/characters page has to be from DOUADP right? All the other music is from the resort, so why wouldn't this be? I love it, it sounds very professional, but I can't imagine everyone clapping and singing along to it... unlike our dear Dancin.

Does sound great however! Wonder how the lyrics fit it  :P

I can't wait to see Main Street with the new banners, they look great!
Title:
Post by: Anthony on February 23, 2007, 12:50:11 AM
The best thing about the banners is that they totally fit with Main Street.  I hope all the people who've hated Halloweens and all the various Carnivals give DLRP a massive pat on the back for that.  It'd be cool if the poles still illuminated at night, I can't remember what I read about that.

The Bougillumination art looks beautiful - the candles look bright, don't you think? They look like that on the TV spot too... definitely more "dazzling" than I expected. I wonder if they'll fade up and down or flicker aswell?
Title:
Post by: Kris on February 23, 2007, 01:56:38 AM
Can someone explain to me what the chandeliers are doing? On the concept art, I couldn't see them, just the posts they once sat on. What's going on there? The banners themselves are incredible however. Such a nice dreamy colour-scheme, yeh very regal and professional. Will the stage have those intricate anniversary details added do you think, or is this "artistic license" again

Also, the costumes of Bougilluminations match those of the new Dream Along With Mickey show in MK (with the exception of Chip and Dale who don't appear in that show), again making me think they will use the opening tune (from that show) in Bougilluminations. It's just a hunch, no idea why lol. In that show, Minnie and the gang prepare the stage before Mickey arrives, just like the Enchanted Fairytale Ceremony.

QuoteWe're gonna have a party, like none we've ever seen before

Minnie: Oh this is so exciting, we'd better get ready!

So much anticipation, just feel it in the air,
A magical occasion, for everyone to share...

Goofy: Hey look, we've got decorations
Minnie: Oh they're perfect!
Donald: Where does this go?
Minnie; Over there, yes, there! Alright then, we're all set
Goofy: Yippee!

Join the party, a castle party
You're all invited to come and join the fun
So let's get started, so much to do
So join the party, where dreams really do come true

Get ready for the magic, a spectacle beyond compare...
There's romance and adventure, there's laughter and much more
With our imagination, imagine what's in store...

QuoteWelcome to a Kingdom of dreams
Where enchantment never ends
Where every day is a magic day
To celebrate with all our friends... all our friends!

I wonder if we're likely to get anything like the articulated characters for it also?  :P Wishful thinking

I really love the TV Spot. It makes you totally excited for that big party. And after all the new material, which is popping up for the 15th birthday, I really think it will be a big party. Everything looks fantastic. The colours of the banners totally fit to the Main Street and to the castle too. The whole decoration theme has a real classical style which I really prefer, with all that cold and light colours. And Bougilluminations looks soooo beautiful. I'm really going to be crazy, because I can't await it any longer to see this all myself. I really going to think that with all these birthday stuff, this year's going to be DLP's year.

I agree, the commercial looks very good. Hopefully it will work and encourage people to visit the Resort!

By the way; I was thinking about specific merchandising for the 15th anniversary. Can we expect a new CD? I now that we got an updated version of Les Parades en Musique last year, but with the new parade it seems outdated already. So can we expect a 15th anniversary album, just like they did in 1997 and 2002 with previous celebrations?  :)

Yes, I believe there was a topic about it some time ago.  A new cd is scheduled and should feature the new song from the Winnie the Pooh and Friends too Show.

that express looks really really good, i did wounder tho, it seems like woody, buzz are on it, odes that mean they will appear in the disneyparc from now on aswell.

AND..... i did watch the advert from the 15th celebration, and i saw a lumuire...(the candle stick from b&tb) was on the right hand side as a character, and since he is everywhere, i wounder if hes character will start to appear in the park on meet and greets. I really really hope so.

Looks like the German Disney Channel is even advertising the 15th Anniversary.  Even includes footage from inside the elevator shaft in Tower of Terror and even more models from Once Upon A Dream, don't think there's much more they could possibly give away lately.

Make's me wonder if our rubbish Disney Channel over here in the UK have bothered at all to advertise dlrp instead of constant rubbish tv shows.

I agree, I've never understood why the Disney channel doesn't play some sort of current advert at least once or twice per day, maybe even that Disney guide that is played in your hotel room at disney where the girls voice is so far out of synch it's laughable. I get fed up of them repeating Raven etc......

I wrote to the Disney Channel back in 2000 and asked why they didn't do more about the parks on their channels.  The answer I got back was that due to British laws on monopolies, park features are deemed as advertising, and unless Disney opened up their channels to other advertisers, they are not allowed to show features over a certain percentage of the time.

Bummer!  :(

Just one thought of the Chracter Express. From the photos here it does look very much like the Dumbo float from the WWODP. Just in different colours. Do you think they use this float ? So they have just changed a bit of the deco and props and gave it a new colour ? When yes, then I think it will be amazing to see this big float arrive with lots of Chracters to have fun with.

The official website has been updated a bit:

http://www.disneyland15.com/?r=home&l=uk&c=uk#ceremony (http://www.disneyland15.com/?r=home&l=uk&c=uk#ceremony)

So now we have three English names for Bougillumination:

- Candlabration (shareholders newsletter)
- Candlebration (can't remember where i saw this one)
- Candleabration (disneyland15.com)

 I might just revert to Bougillumination out of protest for silly names.

Oh, and "Tristane" updated "her" blog... but only in french.  I guess she's busy putting it through google translater right about now. :P

Edit: And is it "Disney's Character Express" or "Disney Characters' Express"?  These things really bother me!

By the way - do you think we should have separate topics for these events?

I'm surprised more people haven't commented on this - I think it's easily the best TV ad they've ever done!

According to my best friend in the UK, the advert made its first appearence on ITV in the UK tonight.

He was in a local bar and apparently once the voiceover started the pub actually went quietier with loads of people watching the advert till the end, when normally adverts are just ignored. Obviously it is a super high-quality advert and finally something musically and visually on par with the resort itself for a change.

I've had 8 texts tonight from friends wanting to come over to dlrp this year aswell - coinsidence or is the advert working already?

Wow, that's so great!  I can't believe the pub actually went quieter.  I may have to stay near a TV at all times tomorrow, waiting.  I've seen the ad, but on TV... this whole thing might finally seem real. :)

A friend of mine who I introduced to dlrp a couple of years ago returned with her sister a few weeks ago and when I asked "so you enjoyed all the fences?" she started talking immediately about the 15th signs on them all the preparations.  Nice work DLRP.

I was just looking at Dlrp Magic when I realised something about the 15th aniversary, there are 15 new 'gifts' for the celebration:

1.Castle Character makeover
2.Disney's Character Express
3.Disney's Once upon a dream parade
4.Candleabration
5.High School Musical
6.Crush's Coaster
7.Cars Race Rally
8.The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
9.Stitch Encounter
10.Toon Studio
11.Hollywood Studio
12.Kids under 7 FREE!
13.Extra Magic Hours
14.Tailor Made Dreams
15.TGV Est

Was this done intentionally or was it some kind of freaky coincidence that there are 15 things? :?
Title:
Post by: Patrick on March 06, 2007, 11:13:00 PM
Hmm don't know, but I would say just a random thing, seems too precise for it to be Disney thought.  Suppose it's still a better idea than say Year of a Million dreams, wonder if they will actually give out a million dreams  .
Plus kids free and magic hours are not particularly new things.

What was said about this commercial having such an imapct is so true!

In my house this evening (there's 6 of us, plus partners) we were watching the preview episode of Hollyoaks on E4 and when the advert came on, the room stopped talking, we stopped eating our dinner and most of us seemed amazed!

It has an epic value and the edit of the music is far better than the Virgin Holidays version we recently had on air. It all seems complete, grand, magical and shows the resort in such a good light! My only wish is that they'd leave the shot of the castle until the end, to give it a finale. The castle is used at the end now of course, but we also see it as the first shot of the comercial. It gets your attention and makes you pay attention, yet shows you the best bit first.

Isn't the English guy narrating it so boring anyway? He sounds tired and almost sarcastic when he talks
Title:
Post by: Anthony on March 07, 2007, 01:40:08 AM
Wow, I need to start watching Supermarket Sweep and Hollyoaks...

I flicked around the Sky channels during some ad breaks earlier but saw nothing.

You can watch it online here:
http://www.visit4info.com/preview-flash ... adid=43354 (http://www.visit4info.com/preview-flash.cfm?vm=0&type=3&adid=43354)

You're right Kris, very boring voiceover, he sounds like he's thinking "what the..??" as he reads it.  But the fact he says everything so slow could be a trick to pull people in.  We're used to such fast adverts that slow speech makes you actually listen to what's coming next.

Shame they didn't get Kelsey Grammer though...

DLRP have rolled out their online advertising for the UK today!

You can see ads featured at the bottom of this page:
http://www.dlrpmagic.com/ (http://www.dlrpmagic.com/)

And in the side bar of this page:
http://www.dlrpmagic.com/today/ (http://www.dlrpmagic.com/today/)

(might take a few refreshes, they're pooled)

They're quite nice I think.  The flash looks cheap as always, but the red carpet part is very very eye catching. :)

Post by: Kris on March 07, 2007, 09:44:22 PM
Na, that Alice float IS NOT our new Alice float. Ours is quite surreal and has a huge Alice stuck inside a doll's house, with her head poking out of a window on the front. It's very different. The whole commercial was filmed in DLR, which is a bit strange considering it's especially made for us.

Probably one of TWDC's ways of helping us out, by creating the commercial.

There is a character, he has been used in many old Disneyland Paris shows, Disney's Classic's the music and the magic, Beauty and the Beast and probably some more.  So can't see a reason why he can't be in the park if they are thinking about it.  Would be nice to see him if he is in something over the 15th.

No, most of DLRP's commercials are filmed at California.  Remember the previous one with the Peter Pan kid jumping on the bed?  California...
Christmad ad... California! (They even flew over Aurora's and Phillip's costume).

I'll try to trace back why.
Title:
Post by: Kris on March 08, 2007, 12:38:19 PM
Well yeah, but what I mean is that perhaps the reason why it's filmed there is because TWDC can make it free for us, using their own equipment and stuff, rather than letting an external agency make it in Europe? This way the company helps out DLRP (in financial difficulty) without having to actually hand over money. The value of making the advert is actualy more than it would cost TWDC for example, plus they get more control over how DLRP is promoted. It's a nice little business thing I think.

The most recent set of commercials, with the Pirate boy, Peter Pan Kid and Princess girl have been used in conjunction with other TWDC promotions, so I'm not so sure it ws made exclusively for us actually. I always thought they were for DLRP, until recently  :?
Title:

No they don't get it for free, but like you said as they use it for other projects as well they can share the costs.

Title:
Post by: jortlaban on March 09, 2007, 04:10:33 PM
the whole commercial-swap idea is not because of the financial situation in paris, but to cut costs company wide... there is a large library of resort shots worldwide which they use to create the many worldwide commercials (and the one for the 15th is quite obvious, since they needed shots of a parade that isn't running yet)....

you can see many Phantom Manor shots in various DLRA commercials and promo's as well as the fact that Paris' BTM is used in most worldwide commercials for the various resorts....

it has nothing to do with any financial setbacks, but purely to show the best possible shots they have to promote any resort.

Just like the last shot from the 15th commercial is from the WDW version of the "year of a million dreams"-campagne
Title:

Quote from: "jortlaban"Just like the last shot from the 15th commercial is from the WDW version of the "year of a million dreams"-campagne

They could have skipped that part of the commercial, so isn't this more of a global rebranding thing? Although we don't have the Year of A Million Dreams campagne, maybe they want one global style for all Disney Resorts? Lots of stuff from Year of Million Dreams is now used for Paris' 15th aswell.

I'm jumping round the living room going "LOOK! LOOK!" and my 12 year old rolls her eyes at me and says "Yes, Mum, Disney, Well done!!

Some children do NOT know how to appreciate the little things (or in the case of the advert-great) things in life! I will sit on her the next time the advert is on and MAKE her appreciate what this is all about!

With regards to the Radio Times advert, it perhaps gives an indication to some of the more rare characters (don't know how often these are in the park) But it had the 3 little pigs and Hyacinth the hippo from Fantasia. Mickey's and Buzz's face both look very orange though lol

I was waiting to come on the computer and the telly was on and I squealed and was like "we're going there!" to my brother!  Who was shuddering cos he's scared of the character's! (And we're having breakfast with the character's)

:( So far, I've only seen the shortened version of the ad. My mum's seen the normal version twice though whilst I've been out. The short version doesn't show the two new rides, but the long one does aparently.

Sounds like it's the same as the French ones which have started popping up:

Beautiful advert, I've really grown to like this visual they're using after kinda hating it at first.  The sky in the background is lovely, and I like how it seems to jump out at you.

I agree with DisneyBud though - it's a shame they used Buzz and Woody, since their faces look awful, but the mix of characters is really cool.  It's strange how they keep using the 3 Little Pigs in all the adverts too...

Just out of curiosity, which cinema chain is this?

Also really good advert in the radio times, maybe I should actually go and buy a copy I am in a supermarket all week anyway  .  Also why does Buzz get front place, shouldn't Minnie or another fab5 member be at the front.  Also no royalty, hmm nice to see for once dlrp have realised not all of disney is about princesses and their mostly unnamed princes  .

Probably UGC/Cineworld?

I'm very very impressed with DLRP, this is a great campaign!  I just got a text from a friend asking "what anniversary are disney paris celebrating this year?", and it turns out it was a question in a pub quiz! Already! :D So I guess the 15th is "general knowledge" amongst the british population? lol

very nice frame !! Today I received an invitation from DLP for their 15th birthday. It is a very nice promotion letter and comes with a small brochure presenting the new Parade, the two attractions, their special offers and the more characters. All styled in the 15th anniversary. Very nice. And their is an other special, they offer you a 15 % reduction when you book a package. Don't know if they offer it for every country, I received it here in Germany. This offer is only available till the 15th April and you need to book direct through DLp. The offer is for a travel to DLP between the 1st May and the 30th September. I wish I could post here some photos, but I don't know how to upload any photos here on the site.

Yeah and for all people coming this Saturday for the beginning of the Celebration there are bad news for the parade:

Main Street USA on both sides is just open for people with Event Badges (Press etc.)
I think for fans and for the normal paying guests it is really unfair. From which place should all the people watch the parade?

EDIT: Good news:
Everybody can see the fireworks show and candleabration...not only the invited guests! The park closes at 20,00 but from Main Street you can watch it ;) It is written on the normal flyers that every park guests can get  8)  This is another good thing, because I heard, that guests have to leave for the fireworks.

Well - that's what I'm afraid of as well...
The pics look great and I surely hope that this is not a one in a lifetime thing, and surely not only for the press.
Personally, I'm going on April 12 - April 14 (April 12 being THE day), and I hope that they will at least repeat what they did last saturday on the actual birthday as well, but I'm afraid I've missed the big spectacle :(

Either way - I must say that th ebougillumination looks incredibly good, and looking forward to that!!!
BTM was WOW when I saw those pictures with the light coming from behind it, and the fireworks - well - I really can't say anthing but 'it's a dream'...

Cheers!!!!

Mwahaha!  Sorry, I feel bad for anyone who couldn't see it.  I hope they do repeat it for the 12th...

It was a pretty thrilling event, once we were past the "Bad Day" whining from you-know-who (a song about a bad day? to celebrate a Disney anniverary? lol)  Of course, the public were herded to around the corner of Gibson Girl and Casey's Corner but... wow, what a show.  Absolutely perfect in every way.  Never seen anything like it before.

I filmed it as best I could, I'll upload it soon so you can see the event from a lowly guest point of view.

 (Video) 15th Launch Night: Candleabration Fireworks (//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/today/2007/04/video-15th-launch-night-candleabration.html)

(I started writing/uploading them last night, that's why they're dated yesterday)

Hope you like. :)  The videos aren't perfect obviously, but erm quite "atmospheric".

Without trying to sound incredibly gay! That video of the fireworks and the little show made me cry so much! When the new song came on I just burst out in tears! I can't believe I missed it.

I've got to get there this year as I went 3 times last year. Got to see the new parade.

I don't suppose anyone has the song that's in the video? It also appears in the parade on the stopping points I think. If anyone could send it over to me It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys

It happens to the best of us Nath!

That show really made me emotional watching it at home too. Just all the added mini-searchlights during the repirses of Just Like We Dreamed It made the whole event seem so powerful, huge, magical. We were continuously treated with the fireworks too, thinking they couldn't posibly get any better! All the other music and lighting of the show was imense. If I'd known that average guests were 100% going to be able to see this "press event" performance, I would have done everything in my power to get there. I didn't take the gamble though - and I missed out big time!

Other fans I've spoken to reacted in the same way as me, some holding in the tears or letting the eyes well up a bit and others pooring their eyes out. THAT true Disney feeling is when you feel that way, you get a shiver down your spine an yo get those goosebumps on your arms for "no aparent reason". That's what it's all about and you weren't on your own Nath

It's great, I ended up crying in last years christmas parade. When I get into the place I'm totally absorbed in my surroundings and I feel like i'm not in a themepark but some form of dream also.

The video was absolutely fantastic and it really hits you hard. My boyfriend constantly takes the mick out of me because I start crying when I see things like this. I just say he has no heart. :P

I honestly can't wait to go this year, have no idea when but I made 3 trips last year and this is just going to be amazing.

Haha  I agree, there's quite a few parts that are really really special, it took me about twice as long to put those videos online because I just kept watching it, again and again... goosebumps every time. Like when the kids recite their wishes speech then lights dim, the music from the teaser trailer sets off and Mickey "fires" their dreams onto the castle... Wow.

And with the crowd counting up the numbers to 15, it reaches Tink and the whole Castle sparkles, music builds, everyone cheering, that was just incredible.

I still can't believe this actually happened. :o

I hope my question fits in here ;)

It's about the "MORE Characters" announcement for the 15th. I saw on dlrpmagic.com (I think it was "today") a picture which shows Goofy and Chip & Dale in front of Big Thunder Mountain/Thunder Mesa.

--> Will they be there daily?! Or will there be other special Characters (coz they wear western clothes) in front of other special backgrounds to take a picture with them?

"...with helpful advice from Flash McQueen and Martin."

Check the Entertainment Programme when you arrive for times and locations of characters. The actual characters change all the time - in that same article you can see some in Fantasyland, at Castle Stage, Jack Sparrow, etc.  The western characters are quite likely because they seem to like them at the moment, but nothing is ever guaranteed with character appearances.

Oh no, that's awful. Should we tell them?  It's so unprofessional like that, and most of the rest of the text doesn't make much sense either.

"at the Walt Disney Studios Park" - DLRP state in their own rules you should never put "the" before a park name, it just sounds cheap.  "all aboard with flash mcqueen" - aside from the name, you say "all aboard" for trains, not cars.  And "we won't see you for dust" doesn't make sense to me. *sigh* It's not as bad as the text on disneylandparis.com though - I think a monkey could have done better with that, let alone Europe's largest tourist destination.

It Showed Crushs coaster track and more and showed construction of Tower Of Terror and an Imagineer going up in a lift inside one of the towers lift shafts  :) . ( Sort of like a Cherry Picker Type Lift, if you get me ? )

It also spoke of the new Once upon a Dream Parade ! .

Dlrp.fr (yes again) reports about a video posted by DJBASS (Disney-Central-Plaza-Forum (//http://disneycentralplaza.aceboard.fr/index.php?login=931))

I can´t find it there (maybe somebody can help  ) but the video is also shown on dlrp.fr of course:

You should do like I do and go on your own.

:)

I was a bit wary of it at first in March, wasn't sure how it would go, but once I got there I loved every minute of it.

It's nice to have some company but there's also something to be said for having the freedom to do what you want when you want.

My main concern was the travelling. I'd been in the resot before on my own. First time I ever went I had a second day in the resort on my own while everyone else went to Paris, and last year, I went with my family but split up from them most days in the afternoon and did my own thing.

It was a bit different actually going on my own, and making the trip by car on my own. But I planned it out well, and it really wasn't an issue.

My main concern was getting lost, because I was driving so I bought a SatNav before I went. It was invaluable because I'd have struggled down around the M25. I've gone down the M1 plenty of times, but usually go down as far as Luton as I go down to Whipsnade Zoo fairly frequently (though I haven't had chance to go much this year).

I'd have also struggled in France. I probably would have found it a bit confusing initially coming off the ferry in Calais, and again once you get past Paris and around Charles de Gaul airport - but the SatNav made it easy and I only took a couple of wrong turns, and it quickly sorted me out.

Once you're in the resort though, there's so much to do that you really forget about being on your own. It's great to be able to go off and explore things on your own, and spend as much time looking at things as you want. I suppose it's each to their own really, and it's how you are as a person. It doesn't really bother me spending time on my own - though for years, I wouldn't have done something like this. But a few years ago, I felt like having a trip out to a zoo and made my way down to Whipsnade Zoo (which I hadn't been to for about 15 years), and spent the day there. I then started making regular trips around the country to zoo's and safari parks, and the way I looked at it, is if even if your friends aren't interested in doing the same things as you, why should you do without things and not experience them. And that's the attitude I had with Disney. I saw how easy it was last year to get there (initially wasn't thinking about driving), and didn't see why I shouldn't go back again.

:P I think EVERYTHING was better than what I thought. I mean, everything looked incredible already in all the pictures I looked at before going, but everything looked a million times better in reality! :D The statues are much bigger in real life than what they look on pictures, and the banners are even more vibrant and lovely.

:) And of course, there's the atmosphere. It was the best DLRP atmosphere I've ever experienced. When it came to the Parade, hardly anyone was being ignorant or pushy, and French people were actually asking us if their kids could stand in front rather than just pushing them through. It was like the both Parks and everyone in them were in a joyful mood, and all of that translated into the best DLRP trip I've ever had.

TV advertising for the 15th Anniversary has started up again in the UK!

The advert now says "The 15th anniversary of Disneyland Resort Paris is in full flow.." and has a new voiceover guy! He's a million times better.

I've also noticed Disneyland15 Halloween advertising on various websites, but for some reason its not on TradeDoubler (DLRP's usual parter, that I use for DLRP Magic, for example) yet.

QuoteFrom MagicBlog:

16 Years of dreams and magic!
[September 24th, 2007]

Disneyland Resort Paris' next year's theme has finally been revealed and confirmed.  The successful 15th Anniversary celebrations will be prolonged until half 2008, in favour of Mickey's 80th anniversary.

All banners and logo's will remain the same, even though by the end of the celebrations, the park will celebrate its 17th anniversary...

I had a feeling they'd extend it! I'm really pleased, because I'm going on 31st March next year, and was worried that I'd be seeing cranes removing decorations, etc... :)

Title:
Post by: penfold12 on September 25, 2007, 04:05:09 PM
If its like the states, they run the celebrations for 18 months. Begining early summer of the first year, ending late summer/autum of the next year. This would make more sense that a whole two years running into 2009!

It would stop in time for Halloween and Christmas 2008. But I dont know, just using the USA as example
Title:
Post by: Japper on September 25, 2007, 04:23:00 PM
I really , really hope it is extended till september 2008 and not till april 2009!

By the end of 2008 it's time for something else. I heard they don't even promote the Tower of Terror big because of this extension.

Tower of Terror will be promoted big, but for March, not December/January.

How come the Tower will be promoted for March? Isnt it opening in Jan ?

No, as mentioned in the Tower of Terror topic, the official opening will be in March.  December / january will be the soft opening period.

There is a new advert for the extension of the 15th anniversary and TOT, Stitch, and HSM:

The weirdest advert ever...

As I expected, the "Happy Days" song just comes across far too cheap and even slightly slow and boring (somehow...), and I'm not really sure where the advert begins or ends - it kinda stops halfway through at one point.

The actual filming is amazing though, the resort looks beautiful. Just put together so so randomly. Erg, I don't know what to say. I hope its "tightened up" a bit - it's neither good/powerful enough for an extended website trailer or compact enough to be shown on TV. Weird.

Looks like it's due for release over New Year anyway... :?

needs cleaning up yes.

The stuff they have is good, just needs putting together better.

Oh and get rid of some of the title scenes, they are boring to say the least.

Ahh now I see where this company got the contract - they produced the "Behind the scenes" and "Cast Members" preview videos for the 15th:
http://www.nightshift.fr/projet/60/29/disneycast-member (http://www.nightshift.fr/projet/60/29/disneycast-member) Which were rather nice.

I watched the trailer again, thought I'd give it a second chance... it's like a bad Disney Channel music video with reeeeally slow cuts, and the guy in the pink shirt is incredibly annoying for some reason.

The song is completely horrible, couldn't they have used their own "Zip-a-dee-doo-dah... my oh my, what a wonderful day"? Unless I missed something and Sister Act 3: Back to the Studios is returning to WDS.

Is that really true that they will extend the 15 (!)th anniversary celebration until half of 2008 or even March 2009?!?

Let me be the only one, but how dumb is this?! I mean I love the celebration so much with all its shows and decorations. But when they extend it, it's no more special anymore :(!
When they do this, what will await us for the 20th - 3 years of celebration?!  :?

Don't they want to celebrate Mickey's 80th birthday, didn't some of you mention something like that in here? :(

I thought you meant the theme tune from Happy Days the TV programme (the one with the Fonz) and now I've got it stuck in my head!

I totally agree that Happy Day is far too slow in the advert.  It has no energy to it - Happy Days may have been a better choice.

Does the fact that they show HSM on Tour mean that will also be extended?  I had heard it was extended til around now but thought that was the end of it.  DD will be thrilled if we can see it at Christmas although I suppose it will be too cold to do outside shows then.

Hahaha! But I think you're actually right, the TV Happy Days theme would have worked better. Still a very strange choice, but better than making out the extended 15th to be an event on the scale of "When Jesus washed my sins away" (as the Oh Happy Day song goes...) :?

Not at Christmas I'm afraid, it runs until 14th October (as mentioned in the HSM topic) but will return sometime next year, possibly/probably as early as April.

@ Nala_84 - Heh, I wouldn't call it dumb! This has been their most successful campaign ever (well, possibly aside from Space Mountain). So far we only know it'll run until the end of Summer 2008, the end date hasn't been confirmed. Stitch and the Tower should keep things fresh next year.

I guess we have to realise that not everyone visits DLRP as often as many of us do, so for them it's a great chance to see the 15th again or for the first time.

March 2009
QuoteThe show must go on...What do you mean I don't have the physique, charisma, or voice of Freddie Mercury. Frankly, you've got no imagination!
But I've just found out, thanks to my Mickey ears, that the 15th birthday celebrations are going on until March 2009 !!!
Why stop next March after all?

Why stop when there's still so much to see (or see again), to share and discover?
And so it goes on, we all hoped and prayed for it, and Disneyland Resort Paris has done it!
In the name of Winnie, Ariel and Saint Goofy ...Thank you!
And so, Candleabration will continue until March 2009. And the little train with Disney characters too. The Tower of Terror is arriving... at last!
And there'll be a host of new events too, with Stitch in the headlines in March... in short, there are a lot of good times ahead!
And so I say long live Freddie Mercury! ;-)

http://en.blog.disneyland15.com/2007/11 ... ust-g.html (http://en.blog.disneyland15.com/2007/11/the-show-must-g.html)

So if we're missing out on Christmas or Halloween with a 15th style this year... there's always next year.

I knew it was continuing next year but not through till March 09'

March 2009??! Phew.

I'm not bored of the 15th yet though, keep it rolling... :)

Be interesting to see how they pad out the final few months of the celebration, after next Christmas season when ToT will be one year old... Maybe Stars and Motor Cars or Playhouse Disney by then?

That's so lame to continue the 15 th celebration til 2009 (the park will be 17 this year!!!). Even DLR did'nt stretch their 50TH ANNIVERSARY that long. And they cancelled the 80th birthday of Mickey Mouse for that... LAME.

I must admit that it is a bit cheesy that they are extending it for a whole year until the 17th, but it is quite possibly the best ever marketing campaign and attendance levels that we have ever seen.
LONG LIVE THE 15TH ANNIVERSARY :D

I think it has been a wonderful campaign and it has tempted me to book next Easter which I wouldn't have done unless they were doing the 15 Anniversary "kids go free!", so I suppose it has done the trick increasing attendance.  I do think it is a bit strange that they would extend it to their 17th year, what will they do for the 20th?! :?

I have loved the new rides, party atmosphere and new parade which has been fantastic,  WE LOVE DISNEY :D/

I like it that they continue celebrating till March 2009. This campaign and the whole celebration got more attendence for DLP then other campaigns did. So it's good to keep it going for another year. And I can celebrate Christmas with the 15th stuff then.

Totally my opinion!! :) That doesn't make any sense, celebrating its 17th birthday with 15-banners

Why can't they change the campaign by celebrating Mickey's birthday instead?!

15th Anniversary is back on TV here since the start of the week, advertising Kids Under 12 Free from January to March as well as the new Eurostar line (the animation of St Pancras is weird, couldn't Eurostar give them any real footage?)

Here it is:
http://www.visit4info.com/preview-flash ... adid=54455 (http://www.visit4info.com/preview-flash.cfm?vm=0&type=3&adid=54455)

The voiceover is much, much better than the original 15th ads (where he was really dull), and "don't wait until it's too late" is good line to add in.

Only bad thing - "travel direct to the park". You have two! ](*,)

I thought I'd bring this topic back from the dead so that we could all say a final good bye to the Fantastic 15th Anniversary Celebrations that we've had over the past few years, and end tonight. I would lying if I didn't say that this has been one of the best things that DLRP has ever done. It'll be a shame to see some of these things go; so thank you for the last two amazing years of magic, excitement and happiness; the 15th celebrations will truely go down in Disney history. =D>

On a side note, it's quite interesting to read some of the posts from the start of this topic, just to see how it all began :)

The decorations were classy and the entertainment was great.

The last 2 years have been very big for the resort.

We have only been once at DLRP during 15th birthday celebration, but it was the best visit to DLRP ever.

DLRP did a very good job to celebrate the 15th birthday. The parks looked really great, especially DLP with the Main Street Banners and the Castle Decoration.

A new parade and new attractions made Disneylands birthday something special, too.

Hopefully Disney will do such a great celebration for the 20th birthday again.
