Title: [DLR/WDW] What Will You Celebrate? / Celebrate Today!
Post by: AmericanMouse on August 28, 2008, 03:25:51 AM
Not only will October 5th be the (imfamous) Miley Cyrus Sweet Sixteen Birthday Party, but also the start of Jay Rasulo's next big campaign as the sequel to Year of a Million Ripo--, er, Year of a Million Dreams.

The question (and the theme) is: "What Will You Celebrate?"  According to MiceAge.com, ads including the likes of Johnny Depp with actors playing guests are being filmed in Lake Buena Vista, Anaheim, etc., and will debut later this year.

So, questions or comments?  Ask or tell, and I'll have more later.

"What Will You Celebrate?"...?  They should have stuck with the original tagline: "We've Got Nothing".

I wonder why the US resorts haven't taken to doing the kind of big seasonal events and parties that DLRP do?

Yes. I think baloo means other seasonal things like St Patricks day, bonfire etc

They do Halloween and Christmas pretty well, plus WDW has the successful Pirates and Princess Party events, which will be coming (on a smaller scale) to DLRP in 2009.  Add Grad Nights for the High School seniors and Night of Joy Christian Rock music festival over in Florida as well, so they really don't need other holidays.

[offtopic]I've been suggesting over in the imagineering threads the idea of a Mickey's Christmas Party (Fete de Noel avec Mickey) hard ticket event at WDSP, but sadly, no one's responded to that as of yet.[/offtopic]

UPDATE: A tour that celebrates the theme of "What Will You Celebrate" will kickoff today (9/24) in Toronto, Ontario.  The tour will hit the eastern and central USA until mid-October, and then resume after the first of the year out in the west.

Just saw one of the acutal commercials... and wow!
One of the most emotional things I ever saw in a commercial.
Love it!  =D>

Very good videos on there, well done Disney, and thanks for the link MagicStar.

It's quite interesting to compare that advert to the marketing campaign for MMP next year at DLRP, they both have a lot in common, especially with the Mickey Balloons with the invites on them... :)

On another note, does anyone else find it weird that the Disney parks logo on all of their adverts feature the DLRP, WDW, and TDL castles, but not the DL or HKDL ones :-k

The tour started in Toronto Wednesday (9/24).  I'll be in Philadelphia on October 8th for that, on Market Street between 16th and 20th.

The new tv commercial is great. Why can't DLRP show such commercials.

Slush.

But beautiful slush all the same. I'm desperately hoping that whatever they come up with to advertise Mickey's Magical Party uses real footage and real people like this rather than the disgusting and cheap-looking CGI-ed stuff they did for the second year of the 15th.

The shots of (fake) balloons around New York and so on are brilliant. Can we have that but with various European locations in the background? Kind of a "Europe is coming together to celebrate..." campaign, showing people travelling from across the continent to meet at DLRP?

I'm coming up with EU-slush now.

Like that advert they had before with the Characters coming to DLRP?

I do like that emotional 'What will you celebrate' ad its a very good Disney advert
(tbh i prefer it better than the DLRP unwrapping one   )
I think we should get an ad campaign like it
(actaully I did like the need mag?c campaign those years ago)

That song reminds me so much of High School Musical.
But still what a great Tv Ad. Why don't DLRP ever have great ads

And wow it's done by Corbin Bleu. I am kind of addicted to that song! :D

On various forums I've seen the American WDW fans getting really excited by the Street Parade Party thing. But I don't like it.

I think it looks cheap and tacky and very repetitive.

Lack of characters dancing in the street with the stilt walkers and dancers, Nice to see Sebastian, Lumiere and The Incredibiles in a parade and the park.

Also nice to see WDW are back to building floats but there all the same but painted in random colours.

If you thought it could not get any worse, well you were wrong  .
Seems Magic Kingdom has put together recycled footage from Stitch Live, and decided Hairspray was popular in 2007, so why not recycle some of that and just for good measure, add corny pop songs, and Meet the Robinsons music.  All put together you get this piece of jumbled rubbish    .  Makes me glad DLP decided to make a piece of camp parisian entertainment  .

I quite liked the video I saw of it too, I've got to admit.

Nice mixture of Stitch Live, Catch a Wave Party and Hairspray. Good bit of humour, good interaction. The 50s/60s TV show concept works nicely for the area, and most importantly: there's actually enough room in MK's Tomorrowland for something like this to happen.

Discoveryland is too cramped for street shows, especially horrible, ugly, 1970s, badly-directed and badly-produced ones.

There has been a bit of criticism for this themed year, but now after a few months of it going on I thought I'd say my views on the year now everythings settled in.

For WDW I think the promotion has been fantastic.
The tired daily parade has been revitalised by a really nice soundtrack. I've just listened to it and its one of my favourite parade soundtracks so far.
The Move it! Shake it! Celebrate it! 'happening', however cheesey is a decent daily show addition.
The less said about Stitch's show the better, but thats not really linked to the promotion.

For Disneyland I don't think its been as good, I miss the Parade of Dreams and the new Celebrate parade isnt really a very good replacement.

The promotion is getting people into the parks who normally wouldn't be going, and thats sooo important at the moment.
I see it as a short-term solution between Disneyland's 55th and WDW's 40th, plus also a Toy Story promotion here in Paris.

Overall, its not as bad as my initial reaction thought it was. I've enjoyed looking at various things on the internet about it over the last few months.

Stitch's SuperSonic Celebration is closing already!  Guests didn't like the show, so WDW is pulling the plug...

Quote from: "Orlando Business Journal"Stitch's Supersonic Adventure, an interactive stage show that opened May 5 at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, will close on June 27.

Disney officials wouldn't say why the show, which opened with much fanfare just six weeks ago, is on the way out. Postings on blog sites by Disney fans suggest that park patrons complained about having to form queues in the late spring heat without shelter or seating.

A Disney spokeswoman didn't say what is planned next for the Stitch site.

Ouch, I didn't think it was that bad. That's a costly mistake either way.

So I presume the 3 month-old It's Dance Time hasn't been getting any negative reviews then? :P
