Title: Disney Junior Live on Stage!
Post by: The Butlin Boy on October 20, 2007, 11:35:13 AM
(https://www.dlpguide.com/images/external/forum_playhouse_logo.jpg)

Playhouse Disney - Live on Stage! is a brand new attraction opening at Walt Disney Studios Park as part of Mickey's Magical Party (http://https://forum.dlpguide.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4999), presenting the popular characters of the Playhouse Disney TV channel through puppets, sets and a live host. It is based entirely on the similar attractions in Florida and California, and will use their updated show which premiered in 2008, featuring the stars of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Little Einsteins, Handy Manny and My Friends Tigger & Pooh.

The theatre has been constructed in the studio next door to Stitch Live! at Walt Disney Television Studios in Production Courtyard, which used to house the Disney Channel CyberSpace post-show games area. The show will likely be presented in separate French and English versions.

Sorry about the translator:
QuoteMore seriously the rumour which had been launched by the Gazette, is confirmed.
Playhouse Disney will be born in the Park Walt Disney Studios!

The spectacle should be placed in the old studio of turning of Disney Channel.
This studio, larger that which be "worth visiting" and in which Stitch is settling, a few times were used to turn Zapping Zone.
It was not until there not worth visiting. But of the access will be especially arranged for the occasion.

The entry would be located at author of that of Stitch and the exit would be done, as for Stitch, by old Disney Channel Cyberspace rencovertit in post show.

Sounds good to me <!-- s:D --> :D <!-- s:D -->

I can't understand that translation at all... So what, it'll share the same room as Stitch, a different room? :?

The attraction is at MGM and DCA: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=xX6s2pe3T7g (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=xX6s2pe3T7g)

Great news if this is true. I mean, I can't think of anything worse to watch, but a lot of people really want these characters at DLRP for their kids.

I think it is basically says that they will be putting Playhouse Disney Live, probably the same show from the states, into the old Disney Channel building along with Stitch, but it won't be in the same room as Stitch. They will both have their exit where the old zapping zone/cyber-space mountain area was. I hope this helps

Perhaps Raptor could shed some light on this!

Wow, another addition to the Studios. Great. I'm not really familiar with Playhouse Disney- Live on Stage!, but is seems like a great fit with the Disney Channel Studios. Does this mean we can also expect Big Bear, Jojo etc in the future Stars & Motorcars Parade?

I think it probably will come over with the parade as it would seem a waste to only use the brand and costumes in the show, but that's just my guess

Same when Stitch opens maybe?

Why don't they build another building so in case of long queues for Stitch there shall be 3 other rooms.

There are multiple empty soundstages in the Disney Channel building.  None of them are used anymore for real recordings.

I'm curious if we will get the current MGM version of the show, or the newer one that will be performed as of next year? Not that I'm a fan of Playhouse Disney (I've never even seen it since we don't have Disney Channel in the Netherlands), but it seems to fit so naturally.

I was just thinking, both Stitch Live and Playhouse Disney will exit through the former studio with CyberSpace Mountain in it etc... what will happen with this room? Wouldn't it be a smart move to turn this into a shop or something? Especially High School Musical, Disney Channel and Stitch related merchandising would sell very well.

For anyone unfamiliar with the TV studios building, DLRP Today now has an accurate plan of it (//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/today/2007/11/04/playhouse-disney-live-at-the-studios/).

Perfect idea! They'll surely have trouble making that space a worthwhile postshow now that it's double the size without CyberSpace Mountain, and to be honest I think I'd prefer a Disney Channel shop anyway.

Post by: Anthony on November 05, 2007, 06:32:34 PM
No, probably not all of it! Did you ever go in the Art Attack stage? That was pretty huge - probably bigger than they'd need for PlayHouse Disney - and this third studio towards the back looks even bigger.

I suppose in addition to the stage and seating area, they'll need all the usual technical equipment and a proper backstage area for the performers.

It'll be interesting to see how they get people in and out of there. The old semi-circle gallery route could be possible, don't you think? (And then use some of the backstage corridors)

nice for the kids..its a show i have to admit to taking every oppurtunity to avoid in the states.. The thinking I suppose is that a lot of bodies can be taken out of the park public areas in one go which will be very neccassary if the park becomes too popular

Playhouse Disney will not be necessarily be added to increase capacity, if they want to do that, they just need to add a few more Moteurs Actions shows or use more trains on Rock 'n' Roller.  This show is about adding more offerings for families with little kids which is desperately needed to improve the WDS image.

Please be advised that if PDL! goes into WDS, it may not have Bear.

The old show at DHS and DCA consisted of Bear in the Big Blue House, JoJo's Circus, Winnie the Pooh and Stanley.

That has been ripped out of DHS, and the newly reopened show has Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, Little Einsteins and Tigger and Pooh with Derby.  The version at DCA will be closed when we go next month to do likewise.

No I am not sure about current programming in the non english speaking nations of Europe, but if the show were to match the UK's programming, then the new version of the stage show is more likely.

It's a real shame because I adore Bear in the Big Blue House, but they did stop making them 7 years ago.

The little Einsteins are cool, but I can't see how that would work in Playhouse Disney Live.

This is the theme park show, so don't expect it to be the same. Hopefully yours will be better for that price! (That's for 2 tickets, hopefully?!)

Looking at the WDTV Studios building, where do you think they'll put the entrance for Playhouse Disney?

Maybe on the right of the 'Walt Disney Television Studios' sign, so it balances with Stitch Live? Anyone who's been recently -- Is there any spare queue line space there now? I can't work out how they'll manage this otherwise.

Yes that was also my intention. The right side will make it balanced and the entrance won´t be to near at the stitch ones. Maybe they could use the queue under the walt disney studio sign for this in the future. Shouldn´t be to difficult to switch the stitch queue a bit to get room for this.

:stitch_bounce:  :stitch_bounce:

Except they won´t use the bear from the big blue house. Then every space for the sign won´t be a right thing for me

Edit: here's a photo.  The van has now been removed.

Here it is:  :)

Count the 'Disney Channel Cyberspace' as empty space along with the third stage. We still don't know which one Playhouse Disney will use. (I'd prefer them to use the third, if Disney Channel don't need it, because then the old cyberspace one can be used for a post-show or new shop, as suggested earlier)

Are the places marked 'Pre show area' and 'Channel playout' one single space now? It sounds like it from the reviews so far...

I don't think they'd be able to put an entrance on the Rendez Vous end without changing the inside substantially.

Post by: Riebi on March 05, 2008, 07:52:43 PM
hm I don´t think that they will remove the chanel outplay stations. Cause this will be very expensive. But maybe they will geht a way through this little white room top right. This room seem to be connect to the empty stage? Or can be connected. And so they has also room for a long queue outsite the building and a litte welcome room. Don´t know how the playhouse disney show is built in USA, somebody has a plan of this theaters?

I hope  too, that they wont use the post-show area. Won´t to have it back! Even now it´s empty they should do something after stitch. Cyper Mountain wasn´t much thrilling but much fun to create

Some inside information... A good friend of ours works at Playhouse Disney at Hollywood Studios in Florida and when he was doing the show a few weeks ago, an Imagineer and 2 people from DLRP Entertainment visited the backstage area to see how the show worked.  They said they were working on the show in Paris.  :)

According to La Rouquine at Disney Central Plaza Forum, construction has started inside the former Disney Channel CyberSpace part of the building. Fences have been set up and will be painted in a more fitting colour soon, to blend in with the surrounding area.

It's great to see that they are already starting construction now, while Playhouse Disney won't open until next year. Even Disney's Stars & Motorcars is almost ready to go. The same can be said about the construction of Stitch Live, which started quite early aswell. I still wonder why construction of Playhouse Disney will take that long? I mean, setting up a stage and a decor is all they have to do right?

It's pretty big.  I've been in it a few months ago when everything was stripped out. (What idiot would leave a backstage door open when I'm around??   )

Anyway, the studio's that host the show in the other parks aren't that big either.  There are no seats in those theatres, everyone has to sit on the ground.

Maybe our version of Playhouse Disney will feature seats afterall.

Just a little thought... when the WDS opened it's doors years ago, most people used to call the Disney Channel tour very lame. The Disney Channel has come a long way, and is finally turning in a must-see building. Hooray for The Disney Channel building! :D/

Where will the entrance and queue for Playhouse Disney go I wonder?

Stitch Live is already taking up the entire front of the building and is very popular. If PHD is going into the stage on the far left, then the entrance will have to be on that side of the building, facing CinéMagique.  And we don't want another show that CMs have to advertise with small signs on sticks.

Can't see how it's going to work, bearing in mind Soarin will/might eventually need quite a grand entrance there too.

Unless it's all planned in the Theatre District plans, and a new facade will be build between The Disney Channel and Cinemagique, with lots of space for queues behind it.

You're right, the entrance will be to the left of Stitch Live. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since I assume that the Imagineers, while developing Stitch Live about a year ago, were also planning Playhouse Disney at the same time. Hopefully they designed Stitch Live with a longterm vision so there is space left for Playhouse Disney's queue area. Lets hope so at least.

Yes that´s what I ask myself too. It doesn´t seem to be just the "small" construction inside the postarea of Disney Channel. A big stretching attraction sign could be one explanation for this!

They'll probably remove that tree and replace it with a times schedules board, just like they did with Stitch Live!

Which is not being used, by the way.

Wouldn't make sense to have 2 information board side by side.  The Stitch Live one just carries the Disney Channel logo, so they can perfectly use one for both attractions.

Good point. 2 of those information boards would even look silly side by side.

I expect the tree to be gone soon anyway.

Yeah I think so Kris. But is it really that smart to premiere both Stars & Motorcars and Playhouse Disney during the last months of the 15th anniversary? Wouldn't it be a wise move to postpone it until spring 2009 when the 15th anniversary ends? I guess that way it would have more impact.

They could do it like they did for TOT,which was to open it early at the end of one season (e.g. Christmas of the 15th Anniversary) and then officially publicize and open it at the beginning of the next (The Celebration Continues) :)

Yes! Hopefully the ugly speakers are next, then the horrible curb onto the grass which looks very low-grade for a Disney park.  The trailer there has also outstayed its welcome quite a bit. Moan moan moan...

But seriously, I hope this entrance is eye-catching but quite tasteful, similar to Stitch. I'd like to say I hope for a good budget, but I doubt that. It's just a shame Hollywood Blvd has made this corner look so utterly bad in every way. :(

There's enough space to still construct Soarin' in that corner. There still is the Mickey Mouse meet 'n' greet that can easily be removed. The show building would be constructed more backstage anyway.

Three former Disney Channel studios are currently being rebuild for the show.  At least according to the construction announcement outside the park, near Val d'Europe!

And according to La Roquine will the former Cyberspace Mountain only be used for the pre-show.

Maybe they should learn a second language aswell like most of us? Come on, most shows are designed to feature only a small amount of language so it can be understood by everyone (Animagique, Cinemagique, Tarzan Encounter etc.). Other shows feature television screens with translations (pre-show Armageddon, pre-show Honey I Schrunk the Audience) or headphones with different languages (Honey I Schrunk the Audience, Art of Disney Animation etc.)

Like I said in the Studio Tram Tour topic, maybe Disney can re-install the different languages at the trams, like it used to have a few years ago? Or get Spanish, Dutch and German performances of Stitch Live (since that show's target audience often isn't capable of understanding French or English if neither of the two is their mothertongue) next to the regular shows?

We saw the bear in the big blue house show in 2005! It was awesome! I can't quite remember if this was in Florida or Paris though... But still, we all sat on the floor watching the show, and then at the end all the kids did the conga around the room, so me, my brother, and my dad joined in. Our whole family is a fan of bear in the big blue house!

Sounds great with another stage show  :D but I would prefer Voyage of the little mermaid, Beauty and the beast or Aladdin instead  :D/ I liked playhouse in WDW, but still the others are WAY better   and would be something the whole family would love to watch (I don't think that's the case with playhouse ;)) Or what about something big, and exiting, like One man's dream at Tokyo disneyland: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rI88iPWk80 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rI88iPWk80%22%20onclick=%22window.open(this.href);return%20false;), off course in a smaller scale, and off course not exactly the same, but something like it would be lovely!

Thanks Riebi!

It looks like they might be doing what I expected, and adding an extra curve to the front canopy. I wonder if it'll be an extra queue for Stitch or the Playhouse Disney entrance though? Some members on DCP said the two pillars could form an arch... but I'm not sure now. They're the right height to hold an extra bit of concrete roof.

Something like this is what I mean...

The red bit being the extension and the yellow bits being the two entrances... what do you think?
Title: Re: Playhouse Disney Live on Stage (2009)
Post by: Riebi on August 13, 2008, 05:24:48 PM
I know what you mean anthony! Same here. I also think that the removing of the metallic plates around the concrete canopy leads into a longer canopy and not into a totally new structure. Also the pilars are not really high and should fit with this canopy thing.

It would also make sence to show the guests which building hosts playhouse disney. It´s more assembly(cal) to the area instead of having a totally diffrent gate to a attraction "in the building of stitch". It also would close the production courtyard a bit more. Maybe it could even be a herald to the theater district placemaking.

If they make something like a gate I think they would integrate it in this canopy to just have ONE walt disney televison studios building. A gate beside the WDTS could make a very  flighty  impression of this area.

The sign is up, as well as some sort of red and gold structure, similar to the one at Stitch Live!. Looks rather good in my opinion. :)

I like it! :) I've been wondering when we see something like this appear. I like how it fits in with Stitch and the rest of the area too. Well done!

Here's another, more close-up shot showing off the signs next to the sign :P

is it sad that at 22 years of age I am so looking forward to this!

I have a nephew who is soon to be one year old and when I stay with my sister these shows are always on, in fact sometimes I go around singing the Little Einsteins theme tune! I even have it downloaded to my computer!!  I love all the songs and theme tune of The mickey Mouse clubhouse! I don't think I will get back to DLP until the end of the year but I can't wait to see this and all the new attractions!! =D>  :D

A few photos from Sunday.  Mickey's old trailer has been removed and the wooden fences have been taken down.  Some kind of passage way has been build on the location where the trailer used to be.

What a Shame I enjoy that show! Hopefully Disney will revive one of their highest grossing stars! Even if it means we return to Christopher...  and Hand Drawn Animation... Although Darby and Hand Drawn would be sweet!

Nice to see some progression is occurring on the site...
Although I dare say from that Angle... That looks like a nice big site for work...

I really can't wait... And from the recent segments in the MMP Television Campaign... It looks like its going to create a rival of stitch... and a great area for parents to take a brief time out with their younger children, with both attractions there!

If anyone's going to DLRP soon or is reading this having seen one of the soft openings above, I'd be interested to know if they've re-recorded the original Little Einsteins and My Friends Tigger & Pooh using the British voices that Playhouse Disney UK used. Kids might be a bit confused if these suddenly have American accents.

Yes! It's so depressing that they had the construction stuff there and all that's happened is the fences moving back and another damn unthemed trailer.

Does a small berm and some trees cost too much for EDSCA?

We have Muppets....

Not in the form of Kermit and Miss Piggy...

But the Dolls of Tigger and Roo and those posted by TBB have chords/wires attached to thier hands and it looks like they are "controlled" from below... and to me that is the look of a muppet!

Thanks for the pics TBB, the attraction looks really really good! And the show itself looks awesome!

Its really weird hearing the songs from Mickey Mouse's Clubhouse in French, but not as scary it is for me to be caught singing along to it in English!

are all the shows -mickey mouse clubhouse, my friends tigger and pooh, little einsteins, handy manny all in one showing or is there going to be seprate showings for each??

Anyone know yet??

Your not the only person who I'm constantly reprimanding for that common mistake, Javey is a frequent victim to the wrath of Captain Pain.

Although I'd have to say I agree with you... More Pixar is needed in the studios (and Toy Story Playland should aide this) but then I could be saying that because I am Captain Pixar (according to Javey)

There are seats against the walls.  :)

Most digital camera's should have no problems taking photos during the show without flash, there's plenty of light.  Take photos when there's no movement, like when a song is just done and they pose for a few seconds.

Most digital camera's should have no problems taking photos during the show without flash, there's plenty of light.  Take photos when there's no movement, like when a song is just done and they pose for a few seconds.

Thanks for clearing that up Kristof!! :D  At least my mum can sit there and I can try to get near the front! :D/ . Also thanks for the photo tips and to Zanderstarz too!:D

Hi everyone

I am planning our visit in July and I would like to know if someone knows what time the show is in English. In the program it says "see language options at entrance". But has anyone been there and knows which of the shows below are in english?

tous les jours / daily
10:30, 11:15, 12:00, 12:45, 13:30
14:30, 15:15, 16:00, 16:45, 17:30

And is it something which changes or it stays the same during the whole season?

thanks
george

We went to the 1730 show in English.
Title: Re: Playhouse Disney - Live on Stage! (2009)
Post by: Anthony on April 24, 2009, 02:05:57 AM
So far it seems to be staying the same, which means the schedule goes like this:

French: 10:30, 12:00, 13:30, 15:15, 16:45
English: 11:15, 14:30, 17:30
Spanish: 12:45, 16:00

But obviously it could change.

It's incredibly annoying they don't publish the languages on the programme. There's no use whatsoever knowing just the times, since it's so frequent anyway and you're not going to want to see a Spanish show if you're French... Since the Programmes are weekly they surely must know the languages in advance.

Amazing, brilliant, fantastic show though - I don't think I even added my thoughts here, but it's by far the best thing this year and a real gem for the Studios. Perfect for the park, perfectly executed. The giant pre-show room is fantastic and I believe might even make this the best of all three versions... I saw it with an excellent American girl hosting, and a surprising amount of other people aged 20+ sitting on the floor at the back beside me, enjoying it just as much. I'll add the video to DLRP Magic.com sometime soon.

The bubbles, leaves and confetti are spectacular... do they really do this every show?! It's so... un-Disneyland Paris-like...

I am asking myself how long this will take till it goes away. I mean, those special effects like the leafs that are falling , cant fall forever. Those things cost money.

They do!

Speaking of things that dont last forever...the streamers held by the characters in the parade have been cut...maybe this is a hint at what the future holds for playhouse?

Yes but not all of it! I saw that kids and people where taking all the leafs and put as much as they can in there bag/jacket/pants or whatever. So they are losing some of them.

Disney DON'T (and CAN'T) recycle items that fall on the guests!
Evrything it's clean up and sobstitute whit new.

I work in playhouse and i can't assure that!
In my opinion, everything that a guest see it's only the 10% of the real costs.
Playhouse is the WDS studios show whit more personal than others!
It's one of the most complex show. There's a live singing actor, complex marionettes, Special effetcs, lighs, sourrounded live musiceffect, animation, a direction, and don't forget that no seats means children running all around in a theater whit a low stage whit 2 stairs!!!! It's hard for us to keep evreything safe.

;)
How much time?? Playhouse it's the only thing in WDS for 3-6yo target, there's families that see the show 3/5 times A DAY! that's not a joke, and don't forget: live show means evrything can change or added anytime whitout big costs ;)

the only one hard work is to keep inside the yellow line all the exalted kids  :P  and to explain and convince all the parents that they have to sit on the floor :D
The security is the hardest thing, we have no protection, a very low stage, two stairs to go on, and a very interactive show that make dance and run all the kids!!!!

In the main show, the rest of the work is to have fun and animate all the guest! ^^ :D/
I love it!

This particular host is brilliant, probably better than most kids TV presenters. And just wait for the "ooh!!" from all the audience (mostly the parents, to be honest) when Mickey pops up.

I must say, if I was 6 years old (or whatever the target audience is) I would love the show.

The puppets and visuals are brilliant.

Good idea to have separate shows for each language!

Surely we wouldn't get this kinda show in the UK, seems like a Health and Safety issue with the presenter walking on a stage with lots of gaps.

We saw the show at least 3 times a day (english, frensh even in spain). Little one loved it sooo much. She didn't care about the language.
I explained to her, what is happening the first three times and then she remembered it the next shows.
No language barrier.

Just looking at the latest programme on dlp website (it goes up to 4th Feb so just 2 days before I go).

I've noticed it says that Playhouse Disney is on 29th/30th January only.  I'm not sure if this is going to weekends only or if it's closing, anyone know?

I'd been hoping to take my 3yr old there as we missed it by a few weeks our last visit.

Title: Playhouse Disney - Rebrand on the cards?
Post by: ICHAPMAN on February 07, 2011, 02:39:39 PM
Hi All,

Disney recently announced that it will replace/rebrand the "Playhouse Disney" channel in the UK to "Disney Junior" in May.  This will also be followed in 23 other EMEA countries throughout 2011.

Is the "Playhouse Disney" attraction strong enough to stand alone, or will DLP have to consider a rebrand of this as well?.

When we go this year, I hope that we are not treated to the swizz of a show we experienced last year.  We went in Feb and got into the auditorium.  We (My wife, my 3 Year Old and myself) expecting to see Mickey, manny, the tools et al., but we got the opening segment with the live person and Mickey and then everything stoppedand the audience were requested to leave, with no explaination whatsoever.  Thankfully for my son the Stitch Live in english was a couple of minutes from starting so we went on that instead

Funny that the puppets seem to use bicycle handlebars and brake levers!

As mentioned above, the Playhouse Disney channels across Europe are now beginning their rebranding to Disney Junior, starting in the UK on 7th May and ending Belgium on 6th December (what a great date to choose!). This surely means a revamp of this show to the new Disney Junior Live on Stage format seen in Anaheim and Orlando can't be far off now. But I wonder if they'll want to do it this year, or could it wait until 2012 and be an extra 20th addition? The Studios really needs one...

I got the 6th Dec date from Wikipedia, which was just updated yesterday with 2nd September!

It would make sense for DLP to save the new show for next year, but that depends how much say the channel has. They'd probably rather see the new brand sooner. Anyone on the inside heard anything?

It is very expensive actually, besides the design and management costs, there is the licencing fees for the characters, the vocal recordings, the scoring of the music, the recording, editing etc.

Many people think that just because it is a Disneyland, the park can use everything that Disney has ever created. In fact DLP isn't owned by TWDC and so they have to pay for everything, like music, characters, voices, movies and other stuff.

But this is why in many cases the fireworks and night time shows are so poor at DLP. Steve Davison, WDI show god, is too expensive for DLP. So he produces the amazing shows at DL, DCA, TDL, TDS, and sometimes Florida, and Paris gets the rediculous Enchanted Fireworks and the hub show.....

That's true, but it is an in-house account. I'm working in a company with many divisions and they are handeling it the same way, but it isn't shown in the annual report. ED SCA is a company in which TWDC holds 40% and so TWDC can't be considered as the mother company. ED SCA stands on its own, while the two American resorts are part of the bigger TWDC.

Yep - Wishes in Florida, Illuminations, Tapestry of Nations, Believe There's Magic in the Stars, Remember Dreams Come True, World of Color, Fantasmic in TDS, the Soundsational Parade, the Water Parades at TDL and HKDL, and so many more. We really could use his magic in Paris.

At least ED SCA wants a closer relationship with WDI and a senior Imagineer, Tom Fitzgerald, oversees now the European Resort. Maybe that helps to bring some continuity to DLRP.

Firstly he should sort out all the mistakes made in recent years and then should create a masterplan for the whole resort, for DV and of course for the parks, especially WDSP.

I loved this show. The puppets were wonderfully made (easily the closest thing to "real" versions of Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy in either Park), the sets were very impressive and the live presenter we had was really enthusiastic and fun. The touches such as raining glitter etc were magical for young children. My kids were perhaps too old for the target market, but both clearly remembered watching the playhouse Disney shows a few years previously and got into it. As a big kid and lifelong Henson fan seeing a live puppet show of this quality was great. And such a coincidence we happenned to watch the show on the very day of Minnie's birthday - fancy that!?  :-"

I don't think the show needs to be changed, but the book theme could easily lead to certain sections being taken out or added over time. Personally, if they add a Bear in the Big Blue House or Elmo section that would make my day.
Title: Re: Playhouse Disney Live on Stage!
Post by: Chris_Crayola on September 03, 2011, 10:59:16 PM
They won't add Elmo as doesn't another theme park own the rights to that, i seem to remember them being part of Royal Caribbean or another cruise line???

So my take on seeing this again after two years is that now it doesn't fit with the current channel - and new fans will not know who "my friends tigger and pooh" are as the show was dropped, (and i've not seen bear in the big house lately either), little ones will soon start asking where are the characters they know! But the show is still fun. lots of kids were on their feet and the bubbles and streamers are still a mega attraction for a bundle on the floor! :D
Title: Re: Playhouse Disney Live on Stage!
Post by: Scissorsboi on September 04, 2011, 11:12:58 PM
Disney parks won't get Elmo in any attraction as they don't own the rights. They DO own The Muppets, but the Sesame Street characters are owned by Sesame Workshop, and are currently licensed to the Busch Parks, and Universal Studios Japan.
Title: Re: Playhouse Disney Live on Stage!
Post by: samuelvictor on September 06, 2011, 04:05:00 PM
Ah yes I forgot Disney don't own the rights to Sesame Street Characters, although I thought several Sesame Street branded DVDs were released by Disney. Reading my old post back I've no idea why I wrote Elmo rather than Sesame Street, much as I like the little guy I preferred it in the 70s-90s before it became focused entirely around him!

My kids haven't watched Playhouse Disney for years so I don't know what the current show roster is, but surely if the TV station has changed it's name and shows the stage show should be updated slightly.

However, it may be easier and cheaper (and longer lasting for Disney) to convert it to a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse show. Those puppets were the best, and even if they stop showing the show, it's just classic Disney characters anyway!:)

Considering we've not even managed to change the name of ours (because YAY for brand awareness..), I somehow doubt they'll go the extent of doing a new show. They'll most likely let it rot away for enough time that people start to label it a 'classic' attraction. Much like Animagique, which I now only view for warmth in the Winter chill.

The storyline is going to stay the same but Winnie the Pooh will be taken out and replaced with Jake and the Neverland Pirates, plus the name will be changed to Disney Junior, but apart from that, not much change. Apparently its a rights issue to do with Winnie the Pooh.

It's ridiculous how outdated this show has become. The US shows get updated almost annually and ours hasn't been touched since it opened.

Report from Character Central (www.charactercentral.net (http://www.charactercentral.net"%20target="_blank"%20rel="nofollow)):

Quote"Disneyland Paris fans have been hearing rumours across the internet for a few weeks now that Jack Sparrow would be setting sail from the parks after a long running stint there, in October this year. Pirate fans need not despair though as rumour has it that Jake from the Neverland Pirates will start appearing, as well as Sofia the First, over at Walt Disney Studios around the same time Jack goes away."

Hey, what's a few years of waiting?

They will be in the pre-show of Disney Junior Live on Stage for 'meet and play' - the main show will remain unchanged.

This what we were told too, after completing a satisfaction survey with a cast member after the show.

The show will stay the same, with one song change(?), but the pre show is being updated.

My four year old loves the programs on Disney Junior. He will love to see this show but he doesn't speak English or French. But is this show any good if you do not speak English or French.

It's easy to follow. If you can translate it for your son and explain to him, what is going to happen, he won't have any Problems.

I think your son will just like seeing the characters on stage and can follow enough without understanding all the script.  Am sure he'll be up and dancing and clapping etc

Just having a search through old topics, I'm trying to find out if the Disney Junior show has changed since it was Playhouse Disney.

Has Jake replaced Winnie on stage or is it just a pre-show thing?

Can you still meet Sophia before the show or was that just for the launch?

Sorry if these questions have been asked before, there's all awful lot to search through!
