Just saw this news on twitter.

Apparently the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is going to be "totally reimagined as a high-speed, hyper-kinetic adventure, in which guests will team up with Iron Man and their favorite Avengers."
I apologise if this has already been posted, but I couldn't see it.
I'm excited for this but still disappointed since it's just a retheming of a current attraction. If we get Guardians it'll be three in a row:
Star Tours (upgrade/semi-retheming)
Iron Man
Guardians
I think it's a great idea. RnR physically is an excellent ride and has always been far superior to SM and that's the part they're keeping. Backlot is the worst part of the Studios - whilst the right hand side of the park has flourished with the new additions, Backlot continues to feel half-arsed in the extreme. Turn everything there Marvel themed then build something new in the area too. Theme it like New York. Having the first proper Marvel area in any parks would be a massive boon for DLP.
I won't deny it, i'm not a marvel fan at all, it's not Disney in my opinion but then neither is star wars some would say. However, I'm not against a new area being built as a marvel land at the Studios, it is after all movie based and rather here than in the main park but I don't like the retheming of perfectly good rides and attractions, build more not replace.
On the one hand, I'm gutted my favourite ride will be changing but it is time for a refresh. However, first thing that needs looking at changing is Armageddon. After going on it again last week, it's just dull but could equally be changed quite easily into a marvel themed attraction.
I wouldn't have too many complaints about that side of the park being a whole lot of Marvel, but it is vital that Stitch and Disney Junior (which needs updating pronto) are kept for the toddler audience.
I can live with it. Keep the track as is, remove the Aerosmith theming and replace Iron Man and AC/DC. Key point is Keep the track As Is !!!
Any idea when this will be closing for the work?
I'm sure Armageddon will be on the chopping block at some point but I think it's a harder ride to change. Retheming a rollercoaster is obvious and will make it a big e-ticket. Armageddon needs a lot more thought imo - do they stick with what it is or completely gut and reuse the building? If they do, what can they fit in the available space.
ED92 say they've been told that the new ride will be ready for a 2nd Summer of Heroes in 2019 but won't be closing until after the summer season this year. Which feels about the right length of time for this style of refurb as the ride itself won't really be changing.
Also its another licence that they don't need to pay for like Tower of Terror they can save some more money.
This makes me so sad. No more love in an elevator, no more walk this way etc
I just pleaded on dlp's fb page today to not change TOT into guardians, this seriously has to stop

I'm sure they will listen ;D
Anyways. I'm very excited about the overlay. It's the first step in changing the whole back(parking)lot area to a Marvel land.
So it appears that this is going to happen in 2020, rather than the 2019 opening we were all expecting.
"As part of the transformative multi-year expansion announced for Disneyland Paris, the new Marvel-themed area at Walt Disney Studios Park will include a reimagined attraction where riders will team up with Iron Man and their favorite Avengers on a hyper-kinetic adventure in 2020"

It makes me wonder if they plan anything for 2019 then in terms of other additions, or whether all the Disney parks focus will be on Florida...
Small update... Rock'n'Rollercoaster is now being listed as open through to March '19.
This has always been my go to ride, literally, walk fast as/run there on day one of our trip. I'm a huge fan of this type of coaster AND an Aerosmith fan so yeh, it fits me well. Another Marvel deal? It doesn't fill me with joy, but, I love the ride layout itself so I'd probs ride it.
It has been said that although the ride it self wont change. The experience will change into something never seen before. Which gets me kinda excited.
Sorry to see RNRC close. But then again. The Aerosmith "brand" doesn't do much for todays youth. Marvel does.
With the timescale updates for expansions, I'm wondering (hoping) if the closure will be put back as it were to even later than March. However, I'm guessing I may never get to ride this fab coaster as Aerosmith colab again due to budget. This makes me very sad indeed.
